Skiing workout plan help

Hey guys, I am having a little bit of trouble in finding good workouts to get ready for the ski season. I want to work on balance a lot but I am doing the normal stuff like cardio and stuff but does anybody have an actual workout plan they could tell me. +K for good answers

Do crunches, 6 inches, and in and outs until your core feels like pudding.

Stand on 1 foot in the shower with your eyes closed for a few minutes every day.

Pushups are always good.

Stretch every morning.

I don't exercise, because i'm that fucking cool.

I'm obviously kidding. Just lift some weights, jog, ride a bike, squats, crunches, and pushups are pretty much the essentials.

i bike all summer, and for workouts i do core exercises, some push up and pull ups. pretty simple, but it seems to work

a little late to start training dawg ski season coming in a month and a half....anyways get your ass to the gym and talk to a trainer get on a workout plan. Ignore the tramplinei bullshit and other crap NS will spew out to you. You need to get in the gym start pumping some iron getting the cardio on.

Compound exercises...squats, dead lifts, over head military press, bench, rows, chin ups/pull ups, dips, lunges, leg press, and lots of core exercises. You want a well rounded body, I would generally avoid isolation exercises like bicep curls and tri work outs (with some exceptions)

I would do lighter weights rather than heavy weight for endurance rather than bulk strength or you could switch it up (ie light weights for a couple of weeks then one week heavy weights and then couple weeks light weights...just try to vary your plan).

I would also be doing a bunch of cardio: sprints, swimming, endurance running, cycling, trampoline.

If I had to choose to do only one exercise for the rest of my life it would be SQUATS. Squats rape your body working so many muscles at once pending proper form.

Just do squats bro...and dont be a pussy about it....Throw 2 plates on each side for a warmup and increase from there. Squats are the shit and give you a nice butt and bitches dig that shit.

So far this is what I got:

Squats, trampoline, biking, tramping, stand on one foot in the shower for a minute, swiming, curling, sit ups and shit. What else?

Thanks for the input, this is a good thread.

Cycling is a great leg workout, so is running.Yoga is good for just about everything including balance.

Slacklining if you want to have crazy good balance.

Funny that this thread popped up, I was actually just thinking about how I'm going to get in shape for the season.

Compound excercises are good, squats, deadlifts, planks... Do additional excercises to work your stabilizers such as on a bosu or balance board... Do excercises inbetween to keep your heart rate elevated such as jump rope, burpees, mt. climbers, plyo jumps...

Sample routine: In order 3-4 times

Weighted Squats

15 Burpees

Walking Weighted Lunges

2 min jump rope

60 sec planks

Wall sit squat with feet on upside down bosu

30 sec mt. climbers

CROSSFIT For functional strength! Just go to there website and give it a shot. We've started doing it for the in season of football, it's great.

Yep. Exactly the way I work out. Do this, you'll get ripped and minimize the threat of injuries.

And eat well ! Fruits, vegetables, good carbs and lots of proteins. Try to sleep 8 hours and drink a lot of water directly after returning home from getting fucked up.

this soundsl ike the most miserable workout plan iv ever heard in my life. Your already to late for ski season its october. Join a gym. Start doing a weight lifting plan. Work in cardio and don't forget abs.

bodybuilding.com

rounded back dead lifts

quarter squats where your knees go past your toes

plyometric bench pressing

heavy squats on a bosu ball

twisting crunches...but only the way you spin naturally.

Run downhill with a weighted vest on

Remember to load as much weight as possible on the bar, and start at maximum intensity, no need for a warmup because you are strongest at the beginning.

Ya, im starting to realize how working out effects my performance on more heavy duty skiing so I didnt know when to start working out. So when is a good time to start working out? like before the ski season for next year

Plenty of good suggestions, but incorporate the following AFTER you have done a bunch of leg stuff (i.e. when your legs already feel like Jell-O).

Stand on a bosu ball. Have a friend get an elastic cord or something (gyms will have some sort of elastic rope around). You hold on to one end. Your friend then pulls in various directions and to different degrees to try to throw you off balance so you have to step off the ball. Keep your balance. I find this works great for stability. Bosu ball in general is good. Do some jump squats on it, so much better than just flat ground.

I Started doing squats today, hoping to keep it up. I want to be able to keep going once I hit that wall in a mogul line, or get right back up to speed when I have to suddenly dump some in the trees

Basicly......all i've ever done to get ready for the season are squats, calf raises, lunges with weights, and cadio up the ass. If you want to know if your ready try to do the air chair for 30 mins. If you can do it then your not going to have any problems through the season.
