Skiing with twin tips/freestyle skiing is getting too big.

What they ski only affect you positively, in that there is more money in the industry. It doesn't change what skiing means to you or how you ski.

word...

there is a definate correlation between skis and skiing ability

if you look at kids skis and there in perfect condition and no edge dings or core shots or anything....its kinda obvious

park rats and backcountry skiiers have skis that are noticably roughed up for lack of a better term.

oh and yea they are kinda gettin more popular wit adults... younger adults anyway

but my dad uses my old chronics all the time and he loves em. im prolly about to just give em to him cuz i think he skis em more than i do lol

lamest thread ever. why the hell would it piss you off if someone rode twins? oh shit because free-skiing isn't as underground anymore? fuck well then i guess all you fagots better quit and find something else to do because if you are pissed off about someone riding twins you probably are skiing for the wrong reasons.

^ nah man i think a lot of these kids have the shits because when they first got into newschool skiing, nobody had twins, nobody could rip the park up..now there are sooooo many people claiming to be newschoolers, filling up the parks etc - the industry has lost it's coreness and vibe - unfortunately the industry is changing

and its a GOOD THING! $$$ being pounded into it, means that it will actually go somewhere, more companies will start up, more psponsorships, more $ into R&D = better quality products..need i go on

i see it this way. im not that good at freestyle yet but ive been trying a lot. but i mean i was skiing with some kid who had some twin tips too and i wanted to go in the park, and he was complainin like 'dude ur seriously gonna do that rail that goes up like that? thats ridiculous its like impossible.' i mean its cool to have a lotta kids with twin tips if theyre gonna be willing to actually use them. but its the kids that have em just cause they think theyre cool if they do, and that racing skis are for fags.

I would never say it is getting Too Big. The bigger it gets the better money-wise. Though i agree that it's very annoying seeing kids running around thinking they are fly because they have twintips and they won't even bother to learn anything on them.

i honesetly done care...i mean were i ski there are the solid regulars that i no can rip and do some sick stuff and go for rails and stuff and there are the weekenderes/vacationers that also can rip. if people like twins good for them and they can use them if they want and if there gunna talk smack then slap that cunt in the face but $$ is good so we can get some dope new skis and stuff

ya I wish less people were into freestyle skiing. That way the ski companies would sell less skis and make less money so be able to sponsor even less kids that deserve it. I wan't our sport to be "core", who cares if 90% of skiers we consider "pro" barely even make enough money to make ends meet

Your dad is the man. Im trying to get mine to hit some rails with me, but last rail I hit I broke 3 ribs and that deterred him from it haha.

who fucking cares u guys just wanna feel like ur the hot shit or something cuz ur so core and u can be like o yea i twintip im the the freaking OG. face it, 99% of us here dont deserve to have that sort of recognition, and 99% of that 99% only care about wat they wear and ride on anyways

i heard about this new freestyle skiing and heard they use these skis that have little tips on the tails. what is this fad about?

man, y'all are all whining about this.. there is not a single skier in my whole school, probably not even on my side of the county. hell, i'd be surprised to see a single freestyle skier in the who goddamn county.. i live in fucking south carolina. there aren't even any snowboarders here.

but while i'm on the subject if anyone in the Greenville, South Carolina area is into freestyle pm me or something cause i'm dyin over here. i've posted in the regional but still, let me know if you see this.

I think expansion is a good thing. I'm sick of the fact that skiing gets so little sports coverage, and there's only one major 'freeskiing' magazine, I want the industry to grow to the size of snowboarding because it's better for all of us.

On the subject of riding twins, nowadays I'm getting too old to be a park rat and don't venture in there much anymore (esp. not after a serious hip injury a few years ago), but I ski all mountain/BC and ride twins. Why? 1) They're better in design than carve skis (who wants something that's fucking 60mm underfoot if you're not racing??); 2) it supports the industry; 3) I used to snowboard so I believe fundamentally that every ski should have twin tips, I don't see why they shouldn't. I hope that in 20 years twins are the dominant ski available, and shitty directional carve skis are the ones that are hard to find.

if 100 kids across the country buy twin tips from a ski company, and that allows that company to sponsor 2 or 3 more kids that deserve it, thats just fine by me.

i think that the majority of people that are concerned with freestyle skiing's growth are just gapers that are worried they wont stand out or be original. well guess what, you're right. bummer guys. but seriously, shut the fuck up.

i agree the only problem with freeskiing being small is that no one knows what you are talking about and what freesking is but yeah it sucks cause now kids who don't even have a passion for skiing are on twins and they suck and it isn't cool. Kind of like all the gaper snowboarders that do it just cause they think they are cool cause they boarding

WTF?

hey lets find something else in skiing we can hate on.... oh wait, not enough people are skis, oh wait people aren't using poles, oh wait there are to many twin tips? R U SERIOUS?

exactly what I was gonna say. just more money for the companies to put into making better stuff and give back to their riders... unless you are racing I dont see why not rock twins? I mean there's some sick all mountain directional skis or whatever you want to call them, but there's so many really nice all mountain twins.

exactly. And when Im old as shit and cant hit jumps or rails anymore I'll still ride twin tips just cuz its fun to ride down hills switch

Is this really a post? WTF, who cares! Why do you care so much about other people skiing and what they are skiing? I think it's awesome!! Maybe they are not good enough just yet to be doing park, pipe, switch or whatever else. Grow up and stop caring about what other people are skiing on!

I feel like you might be afraid that if more people start skiing park/twinies then more people will be getting good at it, just like any sport. That would suck because then you would have to step up your game to be set apart. Granted the gaper to good ratio is high, but who cares, if you are that special chances are the gapers won't even be hitting the same features as you.

I was up skiing yesterday on the christmas day and i saw his 4 or 5 year old kid on a pair of fisher twins, i never even knew they made twins for kids that small

who cares..

stop caring about whether people think you're core cause you ride twins. stop caring about people that ride twins and don't hit the park or ride switch.

just get out on the snow and have fun, thats what its all about!

I have two pairs of twins....one will see about 50 feet of switch riding a day, the other is used for touring. I guess I'm contributing to the epidemic!

But seriously, let people ride whatever they want--if this hasn't been pounded in enough yet. The only reason I have twins is because they were way cheaper than the skis I actually wanted, and I'm broke. Ski for fun, not for image.

This seems like the entire "you're not good enough for your outfit" thing. Who cares if they ski with twintips? It doesn't matter, just because they ski with twintips doesn't mean that they do park. Could I then argue that if you're not landing/taking off switch you're not using your twintips properly and therefore shouldn't have them? Besides, can freestyle skiing get too big? Bigger sport= bigger industry= more money= more contests = more opportunity= more room for more pros. Aren't we all doing this because we like it, not to be different? If thats not the case, I suggest you find a new sport.

yea soon park city will be like 3:1 gapers to good skiers.. of course you are good at skiing but man the reason i quit snowboarding was because it was played and EVERYBODY and their BFF's had to have one, i think it's gonna be the same soon and thats just fucking ghey and on top of that theres is enough money in the industry right now it is surviving right?

You quit snowboarding because it was 'played out'?? Why don't you just go out and concentrate on having fun in the mountains instead of what everyone else is sliding on?

at my mountain, its liek 5 to 1

but that makes u feel better skiing, cuz u stand out more

but not in a bad way, jsut different

snowboarding is hugeeeeeeeeeeeee at my school. theres only like 10 or 20 ppl that ride twinnys and only a handful know what there doing with them. i dont have a problem with people riding them its just people that think there hot shit cause they have them and ride down the middle of the park not hitting anything.

I can sortof see the contreversy here

I saw a begginer on a pair of the new seths

It made me troubled that they werent getting the snow or skiing that the deserved

I didnt tread on it though

From the companies point of view, they dont care

From the skiers point of view, they shouldnt care

From the communities point of view, it might cause an up roar

Powder magazine was right

Skiers are afraid of change

Twin Tip skis are for everyone

let them ski 'em don't knock anyone for skiing a twin and not riding switch or hitting jumps

there are tons of big mtn skis that are twin and some of those riders will never ski switch

look at snowboarding, all have a twin and 20% know how to ride switch

it's better for the growth of skiing and the sport to move forward

G

If theres more money for the companies to put on comps then I the good out weighs the bad, in every sense. Look for the silver lining, when 'er a cloud apeeeaars in the blue, because somewhere the sun is shining. Stop getting pissed off.
