Skiing with twin tips/freestyle skiing is getting too big.

I just think it’s a joke how people think that it is the

equipment the makes the skier having twin tips does not mean any thing if you can’t

ski. I have been skiing for a long time about 15 years and I just got my

first pare of parabolic skis and twin tips. I have been doing jumps,

tricks, hucking for a while off moguls or cliffs because there were no parks.

Up until last yea I have been skiing on 190 or longer straight skis

and last year a use 177 that were still straight. I can do some tricks and I have never been

afraid of jumping huge air and just floating above all of those idiots. Then I see them on the lifts those are like those

are some long skis how can you do any thing on them. They are just Morons plain and simple.

im not doubting your skiing but you do realize shaped skis or "parabolic" skis have a completely different technique to them right? Im not trying to hate or anything, but as an instructor, i would just like to point out to a certain extent, the "skill" of a skiier is evident in how much effort or lack therof rather, that one must use to ski. With straight skis, you must use a much greater amount of effort to initiate a turn. So bottom line is, to an extent, equipment does make a difference.

Now different models of a similar time periods skis ie this years thrusters versus this years ar6's might not make that big of a difference but going from shaped to straight skis is a huge difference.

I am just saying that I can do the same tricks as people on shaped skis. Yes there is big difference in shaped to straight but the does not make the rider.

there are still wayy more boarders than skiers in our age group anyway, but there are posers out there. but if they just happen to have twin tips, i dont care, most skis come with them now anyway.

i agree, i don't like seeing every little joey riding around on a brand new pair of juvys, but i think it's good for the freeskiing industry, and maybe the little punks will grow up to shred the knar.

living in colorado i know exactly what you mean. but i just skied my first day in europe today and i only saw like 3 other kids with twins. its weird. the scene over here has not been exposed at all.

i think that getting skiing exposed to the masses will only progress our sport. the more skiers there are the larger the talent pool is and the further our sport will go.

Can you really blame them? We have made the mountain look so much cooler than boarders. It's about time. Now the lame boarders have switched and became lame skiers.

its gettin huge

butt as long as they arent in the park just snowplowing down

cutting everyone off its not that bad

they just gotta be out on the easy runs out of the way

i agree with that. nobody in my school skis and its pretty cool, but it would be nice to have some other guys to talk to about skiing. all i hear in school is boarding, and theres hardly anyone whos good at it either.

then whats the point of "progression"? what do you see/hear all the pros talking about progressing the sport. making it known, putting comps on national tv. all that is showing people what it is and its called progression and other people like it so they buy twin tips. if u want progression to happen in skiing, then this post is contradicting...

All the ski patrol at my hill have twins but they don't do any tricks or hit rails. I think that soon most cruiser skis will be twins.

More money in the industry=better skis ... hopefully

i originally bought my twins because i preferred the way they looked, and the way they ride. It just felt easier, and all my friends were saying that i actually skied better on them. I'm not a full on park rat, but i like going in there sometimes, and at least having the option of landing switch. Its just my preference.

The one part that pisses me off is going up the lift with some 8 year old kids who are making fun of my skis because they are the original fujatives, the red/black ones. Some people need to stop being so damn materialistic, i bought those skis because i liked them, and i still have them because they are perfectly fine, and i don't feel the need to drop a shitload of cash to buy a new set up each year.

amen to that...but i thnk this thread should b done bc everyone just keeps repeating what everyone else said but with differant words

God forbid someone buys a ski with a tip on the back because they like the way the ski rides. Those same people have been skiing since before most of you were even born, and now you come on the scene thinking you know everything and they're such idiots for riding your skis. So ignorant.

Word. If a bunch of gapers on twins are giving you crap, stomp a perfect mute 540 (or something that you know you can nail without looking like a fool) and show them what newschool is all about. Maybe that will shut them up.

In a few years the trend part of it will die out. Hopefully the only real change will be more money into the industry, but I can almost guarantee it won't be such hot shit to be on twins 5 years from now.

Part of me says yes, and part says no... I technically only started sking freestyle this year, but thats only cuz i could only buy twin tips this year, ive been saving towards them for 3 years, (after you can get an actual job, it helps you with money a lot over side job w/ the neighbors), and i'm looked down on by several people that are very good (the only one i know of in my school) because i can't mute or throw backflips or cork 5's yet, and they assume im like 90% of people who ski on twins and are new to it (aka think i go around everything in the park)

but the fact is i've gone from straight airs to being ale to japan and 3 in only 17 days of skiing, but i have to say i do hate the fact that people do ski straight through, or dont even enter the park at all

alot of twins are great skis even out of the park, so what if people want to ride them? its not like theyre stealing something from us, its always going to be easy for people to tell whos serious about skiing and who just has alot of cash to blow

i was just in snowmass and just like hiking the park and shit and so many times i saw kids with twins and i'd stop to watch them and all they would do is go straight on boxes and go off the tiny kickers with no air and no grabs or spins.

too me its kinda like being that kid that saved up all his shit to by skis and boots and rips or is at least dedicated to the type of skiing his skiis sugest, and then seeing this rich-ass who has all new shit and sucks and doesn't even know that he is skiing on twintips---it might sound like the green eyed chuubba got me but thats not it--i juus wish people respect what they ride and do us a favor..""if your not gonna use it LOOSE IT!!""

im sure you could tell whose for real by whose throwing down..... or attemptimg to.... you will be able to tell the difference.....

does it really matter what other people ride and what they use their skis for, as long as you are happy with what you have, other peoples business is up to themselves

word, im the only skier at my school that skis park, theys a couple of racers, and some kids with twin tips that 5050 on boxes, but i dont ski with them i have a bunch from another school like 10 mins away from min i ski with but more at my school would be more fun

well this is exaclty like snowboarding was...they had one tip turned up then they just startred making them with two tips cuase it was easier. im sure race skis will never have a twin tip on them or carving skis but for all mountain skiers and freestyle skis they might just start making them with it on them like snowboards regardless of how u ride or waht kind of ski it is....on the other hand an all mountain cruiser might get affected if a twin was on it and someone tried to ride switch

Who gives a shit? I ski to have fun, not watch all the gapers and sit around being frustrated with them. If they cut you off or do some stupid shit that actually affects you, then get mad and let them know. Mor people buying Twins = more and better Twins being developed and manufactured = lower prices on better skis. And also just generally more money into the sport. I don't know about you guys but I think it would be nice if there were more events televised than just the X-Games. Maybe events with actual skiers/or people who at least know what they're talking about judging and announcing. Stop bitching and ski.

seems to me like alot of people on here think it isnt cool as soon as it becoes more mainstream... why cant you just like it and not give a shit?

there are only like 3 decent freeskiers in my school, me and my two friends. a ton of other people have them, and really nice ones too, like chronics, and silencers, but they never ride park

i didnt used to care until the other day when I saw an older woman walking up to the lift at Snoqualmie with a pair of last seasons Lizzies (ghostly woman graphic). When I saw that I cringed and thought about stealing her skis so they could have a better home.

when i was at mad river i saw an old woman (60+) in a retro pink once peice and 08 ar6's. i wasnt mad or upset, just jealous

What does it matter? like really. I love twin tips because they're funner to ski on and i love to land sw and hit jumps sw. why the hell cant others? so what if they dont tear up the park like most of us. even if i didnt ride park i would still have twin tips. so hate on me for that then
