Skiing superstitions?

Anyone else have them? I get tons of new gear every year but I refuse to replace my old bent 25$ poles from a few years ago because I think they are good luck. I overrotated a big backie on stadium at alta a few weeks back and I ended up losing one of my poles.

The next day I went skiing backcountry with some friends and borrowed a pair of poles and my ski randomly ejected (never happens on my racebindings) I started rag dolling above cliff bands and stopped over a 40 footer above crust/rocks. I nearly died and the line I skiied before that I majorly fucked up on and almost ate a bunch of rocks going machspeed.

I freaked out about my new found badluck and I went back to the place I lost my pole a few days later and there it was sticking right up out of the snow just sitting there perfectly straight up in the air. I've been skiing awesome ever since.

Yeah I do that too, I made a thread about that not too long ago and most skiers do. I was more refering to luck equipment, not washing your ski socks shit like that

before i drop i always tihnk about the girl i like watching me it just gets me pumped.. And call me gay if you want but thats just my thing i like to do!!

i carry a brown bandana in my right pocket under my jacket in my hoodie. i dont wear it, but i had it on when i won my first rail jam. i always ollie into a drop in, i always crack all my toes before i put on my boots, right foot first.i always get teh snow off my feet before i drop in.i refuse to use different poles...mine were 10$.i do like a toe tap thing where i hit teh ground with my toe then heel on my right foot then toe and heel on my left foot

i think i have ocd now that i read this

lol... i kind of have some lucky charms you may say. Some raggidy old hemp braclet i never wear anymore that broke, i keep it in my right pocket. i also haev a super old ghetto hoody thats ripped up from skating in the summer that i got from my freestyle team a couple years back... i think it's lucky too.

My left boot goes on my right foot and my right boot goes on my left foot. It's kinda painful and I'm not sure it's very lucky though.

I dont know if its good luck, but under my jacket i only wear a t-shirt and a longsleeve, the few times i wore a sweater i was skiing horribly, and i always wear a neck warmer over my mouth and under my beanie

i do that to. and ive got a favorite pair of socks. well 3 actually that i always seem to ski good while wearing. they are also the most comfy in my boots

I always leave my camera at home if I want it to be sunny because EVERY time I bring it up to take some pictures the light is terrible.

I swap out my lucky pole grips onto every new pair of poles i get. They're old and sketchy looking, but i can't ski without them.

YES... never last run call is a no no.. i have not skiid with people who call it, i also have to have the ski with the most graphics on the right side. Just weird... and if there the same i have to make on have more "mass" with spray pain or whatev.

Last fall I broke my leg and tore the dorsal ligaments in my ankle. I had surgery on it to repair the ankle and they used a long screw to hold two bones together during the healing process, when they took out the screw they gave it to me. I keep that screw in my wallet and with me at all times, maybe not really a good luck piece, as if I dont have it with me it's no big deal, but I carry it to sort of remind myself what I went through and whatnot.

I always listen to only 1 or 2 epic songs all day, and so far, its worked, and I never crash when jammin out.

i always wear a longsleeve button up shirt when i ski and i hardly ever wear a fleece even though my jacket is only a shell. I think my poles are lucky too, i've had them for like 3 yrs and i havent fallen bad at all with them and they've never bent. Kerma poles are sick...

I don't do anything at all really. The only thing that I do is NEVER call last run. Or even try to think it because thinking it is just as bad as saying it.

yeah dude that sounds exactly like me

and i always wear two pairs of socks

if i dont, i end up eating shit

except for today, i wore one pair of socks and still threw down my first cork 3

I put on my left everything first. Left boot, Left Ski, Left Glove. It started just as habit but now I'm comfortable with it and don't wanna change it.

Oh shit. I just got new poles because my other ones were bent at like, a right angle. And then I kept fucking up on this handrail that I should have been able to get in less than 5 tries...and yesterday, I was unconcious. And now I can't walk. And my new pole got bent (they are those dope new Scotts, so that's not supposed to happen). Maybe I should start being superstitious...

calling last run is definatly bad luck. i was skiing snowmass and we decided we were done for the day and said we were 'going top to bottom'. sure enough, halfway down i found this jump i had been trying to find all day. i ripped of it, got tons of air, landed completely in control, but it was hard enough to still snap my ACL. right now i am 2 weeks and one day after surgery.

no regrets though, it was a hell of a trip. after a day off to ice my knee and asses the damage, i decided to still ski 9 more days, hiked the highland bowl to the peak 9 times, and was doing 360s my last day there.

moral of the story, dont call last run, but still rip everything you can. because if you are charging and skiing as hard as you can, you won't regret your injuries as much. the only thing that sucks is that i have to wait a year to ride my AR5's, my Motherships, and my Mike Nicks again.

sorry for the rambling, i just took 4 vicodins, and they are kicking in quite nicely.

RIDE OR DIE BITCHES!

Thats why I pretend my last run isn't my last run even though I know it is. I say ok two more runs and that means last run. But the actual words are never said. :)

i always make sure noone touches my skis before i ride and i always have the same poles.

-bang

-skiing is dope

uh I clank poles before dropping in, I pray before trying something new or something potentially dangerous other than that, nope

I have a left and right ski

I clank my pole

never say last run if some1 says it I'm just gonna do nothing.

I have a 'best' set of underpants that I always jump best in! Confidence comes in the smallest things.

Also listen to a load of Madchester tunes before you go out on the slopes, get 'The only one I know' or 'Jesus Hairdo' stuck right in your head for the forthcoming day!

i have a right and a left ski, marked with a sticker on the right toepiece,

and i also bet chocolate with my friend if i land a trick. eg. " i bet u a chocolate bar u wont't land ur 1st 5!" sais friend. i go and stick my 5

i always wear some baller shorts under my ski pants, for some reason im alot warmer when i wear them

i have to have music blasting especially the first time i try stuff. but other than that im going to say i like to chew gum when i ski. It gives me something to preoccupy me with so i dont get freaked out.

this isnt superstitous but its something i do everytime i go skiing

i put on boxers and a pair of basketball shorts, then i tuck a tee-shirt into those to and pull up the boxers and shorts like up to my mid stomache, then i put a basketball jersey on *not tucked into boxers and shorts* then i add another pair of baasketball shorts and tuck in the basketball jersey, but i dont pull these shorts way up high, just to my waist, cuz the jersey is long enough to tuck like that

I HAVE NEVER had snow get down my back or anything like that in this system, its water proof for sure.

My bro and I always listen to "feeding the addiction" by suicidal tendancies when we are getting ready at the car
