Skiing is rolerblading on snow

you know seeing this vid makes me think, could you design a set up like that on snow?
Think about it, higher walls for the bowls to keep speed up, but you could have rails on the top just like that skate park, you could pump to keep your speed up and have alot of nicely shaped rollers, wouldn't go huge but can you imagine the tech lines that people could through down. and guess what snowboarders couldn't do it there's no way for them to keep their speed. Poles not allowed either

yea, it teaches you soo much. i learned switch fives cause of blading. you know its people like the haters on here that make inline gay. it would be sick if people just realized how much similar it is to skiing, if more people did it the cooler it would be.

lol its probly already been said on here but im too lazy to read, but skiing came before rollerblading as did ice skates so really, if anything, rollerblading is copying those too sports

considering the fact that skiing as been around ALOT longer, I would think the topic should read:

Rollerblading is skiing on concrete.

Just like

Snowboarding is Surfing on Snow

not

Surfing is snowboarding on water.

think about it, we are basically skiing on two narrow snowboards, the board/skis make almost the same movements to carve. they both flex similar, feel similar on rails, on jumps, basically skiing is snowboarding but forward and snowboarding is skiing but sideways. you ever notice how fast skiers and snowboarders pick up the other sport when they try it out? i had never snowboarded in my life last year, and out of like 100+ days skiing, about 10 of those were on a snowboard, and by like the 7th day i could hit 50 footers, front board down rails, do 5's on a 30 footer, etc... and my friend who snowboards skiied on those days and he could also hit the same 50 footer, and do 3's, switch ups, and 270's off, and almost on.

now i got a friend who rollerblades and he cant ski for shit, and ive tried rollerblading and i suck ass. i have to say that snowboarding overall feels much much more similar.

skiing does get thing like basic switchups and stuff from rollerblading, but if i have to come to a conclusion we have a mix between rollerbladings technicality, and snowboarding style, and it makes something really unique. but in the end we are on BOARDS, and skiing is always gonna be alot more similar to snowboarding than it is to rollerblading.

being able to snowboard makes it easy to learn to ski, I definitely agree with you on that.. But the the thread creator was talking more along the lines of doing tricks and stuff. And while you're right, having snow experience is definitely the quickest way to learn to ski, being able to already do spins and balance on rails on skates transfers over to skiing much better. I used to snowboard and rollerblade so I couldnt really tell you which helps more than the other, but both me and my brother started snowboarding at the same time, and while we both learned how to ride, carve etc. pretty much at the same speed, I was learning spins and rails much faster than him bc I had rollerbladed and he hadnt. I think just being athletic and doing any of the sports (snowboarding, rollerblading, skateboarding, etc.) is going to help you

I didn't know a sports cool level was determined by how big of a trend it is. Are you f-ing serious, "if more people did it the cooler it would be." The fact that it is not some huge trend, and that people doing it are in it for love not cause it's some cool trend, make rollerblading much more cool than if every high school student did it cause it was on MTV.

rolllerbladin and skiin are really similar, rollerbladin is a great thing to do when ur still waitin for snow sept fallin when it comes to fallin, concrete or snow

Its only as similar to rollerblading as you make it. You can roll around popping directly off your feet and doing step ons to rails and shit, sure its like rollerblading. Or you can use your noses and tails to pop from, or slide on, Doesn't really seem like rollerblading too much anymore , oh and that thing about riding powder too..........

That is Jeff Stockwell of san clemente, CA... nowhere near snow or else he'd probably be skiing too

Skiing has a lot to do with rollerblading, i rollerblade in off season as a way to keep up balance agility and quickness.

Just take a look at some of the niggaz that rollerblade in adition to skiing; mike nick, nicky adams, the D-structure guys, David Crichton, i think mike wilson did too... and also peep this;

Chris haffey - prob top rollerblader in the world, from san diego, decides to try skiing;

i think its funny how every thread about rollerblading turns into a bunch of kids posting rollerblading video's trying to prove that its cool. its kinda pathetic, like they need our respect and approval to be happy with themselves. and it ends up making people hate rollerblading more.
im fine with rollerblading, as long as your havin fun i dont care what you do, but that still doesnt mean that i think it looks cool, or that i would ever do it. i personally just dont like it.
and it gets really annoying when people try to associate it with skiing so much, i agree that we do get some influence from rollerbladers, especially the more technical rail stuff. but overall skiing is much much more similar to snowboarding. still fuck that, we are our own sport, its just gay when people think they have to make it into something else. like last year i heard some kids hiking this rail and calling different switchup and 270 variations wierd rollerblade names, like shit, if you wanna rollerblade, rollerblade, if you wanna get some influence from it then fine, but they are totally different sports, be creative and make up something new.

Agreed, there is something wrong with you if you can't take at least a little joy in watching any sport. Hell I even think scootering is cool to watch sometimes. I give props to anybody that can toss their body or slide shit no matter what kind of wheels they're using.
