think about it, we are basically skiing on two narrow snowboards, the board/skis make almost the same movements to carve. they both flex similar, feel similar on rails, on jumps, basically skiing is snowboarding but forward and snowboarding is skiing but sideways. you ever notice how fast skiers and snowboarders pick up the other sport when they try it out? i had never snowboarded in my life last year, and out of like 100+ days skiing, about 10 of those were on a snowboard, and by like the 7th day i could hit 50 footers, front board down rails, do 5's on a 30 footer, etc... and my friend who snowboards skiied on those days and he could also hit the same 50 footer, and do 3's, switch ups, and 270's off, and almost on.
now i got a friend who rollerblades and he cant ski for shit, and ive tried rollerblading and i suck ass. i have to say that snowboarding overall feels much much more similar.
skiing does get thing like basic switchups and stuff from rollerblading, but if i have to come to a conclusion we have a mix between rollerbladings technicality, and snowboarding style, and it makes something really unique. but in the end we are on BOARDS, and skiing is always gonna be alot more similar to snowboarding than it is to rollerblading.
