possible? i just fractured a bone in my arm 2nd day out in the park and my parents got me a ski trip to ny for xmas next week, is it possible to ski with/any recommendations?

i skied with my arm broken all last year. Just dont take stupid/unecessary risks that could screw it up more. you might have to tape your pole to your hand though.

if its a whole arm cast thend ont but if its like a small one go for it...i skied with a broken collerbone nfor a few days last year and its fine just come off the hill if ur hurtin bad and dont do anything stupid

its not my wrist its my forearm just the muscles in the wrist ae strained. i've decided i will ski next week but while im at it i have a few more questions:

1. wrist gaurds, r.e.d sells them do they work?

2. any excercises/physio things i can do to strengthen and speed up healing?

Fibreglass casts are pretty bombproof. When I tore a thumb ligament my surgeon told me I'd be fine to ski.

i ski with a cast which goes little bit above my wrist because i tore ligaments in my thumb (skiersthumb) and it works pretty well, i can do the same things i did before - but when you have a broken bone you should be really carefull, because i don't think it's good to fall on your broken bone

Come to think of it, good story for you...

I used to ski a lot of dryslope here in the UK. I was having an off day one day and sticking to easy 3s and 5s. A young kid asked me what was up and I told him I just wasn't feeling it. "That's nothing" he told me, "check this out", then pulled up his pant leg. He had a broken ankle and had put three pairs of socks over the cast and put that stright into the shell of his boot. And the kid was throwing smooth 3s, I swear. Gnarliest thing I've ever seen on skis.

i broke my scapula once in mid season. i jjust put it in its sling, put it under my jacket, and skied no poles the rest of the season

I skiied VTO last yr with a broken wrist(two days prior)cast and no poles and got second.

also it's perfectly ok to ski with splints/brace/sling whatever you want as long as u tape up good and are smart about it. you probably won't even notice cuz you'll be havin a great time.

go have fun.

well lets just say none of us would look down on you for skiing with a sling. just take it easy and dont do anything you cant handle.

i skied in a sling all last year and it wasn't a problem until a fell on an urban rail and only had one arm and then dislocated my other shoulder

i have a cast the goes up to my elbow and i skied yesterday. i cant wear my left glove so i just put a big ski sock over it and skied without poles. everything worked out fine but i was much more careful about what i did

if you want to do tricks you might not land, you just have to learn how to fall without landing on that arm. like pull it in to your chest, make sure you don't put it down.  i've skied with broken wrists, thumbs, etc.

I have broken my wrist the last 2 summers and continuted to play hockey with a cast on. I'm postive you could ski with a hard cast and not do any more damage to your arm. Those casts are really bombproof.

unnessecary risks i meant like dont go jump off a 40 foot cliff because it looks cool,

ski within your own boundaries

i broke my collar bone a few days before i was going on a ski trip last year, but i still skied with my arm in a sling inside my coat for like a week......when i got back the doctor was like pissed at me, he was callin me dumb and shit, it was kinda funny, but also really stupid becuase if i would have fallen on that shoulder i would have had to get surgery

jea i did it like 3 years ago over x mas break. wait shit that was 4 years ago.
the cast helps sooo much, haha i would fall and not feel a thing

i gots me a broken collar bone and i plan on skiing tommorrow. ive been out for 2.5 weeks though.

sounds good, i wish i had one of those bomb proof casts all i have is a splint (half of a cast basically) so i'm going to be cautious but i really want to do park.

what would be safer 20/25/30 foot jumps or various rails? i'm thinking i'd be more comfortable with jumps.

casts are fine to ski in, just dont fall too hard cause you can break your arm really easily at the point where the cast ends, but other than that your good to go.  For some reason people freak out when they see you riding with a cast, but i really dont know why.

i was skiing with this kid at holiday valley last night

pretty good threw down som nice 270 outs and just screwing around on this wide box
