Skiers vs snowboarders..

i know a lot of people on the east coast from both boarders and skiers and they agree w/ me on this but i was wondering wat u guys think.. do u think that its wicked stupid that skiers hate boarders and boarders hate skiers?
 
yea it's really stupid, and i really dont see it happening that much anymore... sure those assholes who don't appreciate the other sport are out there, but it isn't as bad as it used to be/could be...
 
i really hate the whole rivalry thing. i ski with kids that snowboard and i snowboard myself sometimes. i dont even see why there is a rivalry
 
I think there used to be a rivalry, liek back in the day when i skied when i was younger snowboarders were like fuck you skiers and now a lot of the snowboarders at my mountain went to twintipping, and since twin tipping is moving kind of in the snowbaord direction there no more animosity. People jsut chill now and hit the jumps.
 
a boarder rudely dropped in right as my freiend did. the boarder cut him off and, being the noob that he is, he went straight up the wall and came back down the same way. it ended in my friend crying for like half an hour, making the pipe [more] unusable, and us having to leave early to get him a cast for his broken wrist
 
ive never had a problem with boarders, cept with they join newschoolers. "skiing's online community" no snowboarding in there.
 
Well I'm a snowboarder, and my buddies that I ride with are all skiers. In my opinion newschool skiers and snowboarders get along fine. I'm even crossing over to skiing this season, I can't wait.
 
i fucking hate it cause at one hill in my area we are all cool with each other and like cheer eachother on and stuff but at another one its all 6th and 7th graders and they are the coolest little bitches but they all suck and dont know what they are doing and dont understand the term drop so yeah but we figrued out what we are going to do this year about htat
 
dude, i think for the most part us skiers hate on boarders because we wont admit that they are cooler than us... but yeah, for me, theres no rivalry no more. i think they get along just fine.
 
mostly boarders get along with skiers, but every once in a while some wise-ass comes in and rags out on skiers because he thinks its cool. these people usually suck.

I remember once, this guy in the park was dissing skiers because we cant do feebles and stuff. this guy then proceeded to do a sketchy 50-50 to fall-off-the-end-cause-he-didnt-pop-off.
 
in the south there is still rivalry becuase nobody knows anything about skiing, and there arenbt many people throwing down so its mostly toursists or beginners and they come up with no knowledge of anything and they naturally dont like each other.
 
i cant believe people persistantly create threads of this nature. heres how you abolish this attitude... stop talking about it.
 
no...some snowboarders just dont have a fuckin brain... like this one time i was straighting it to the chair lift and there was one path there, there was 3 feet of pow on the sides and the ground was flat, so this boarder crashed and just sat in the path and he saw us coming from a mile away, i yelled at him to move and he just sat there... but are all snowboarders stupid? no.... are all skiers stupid? no, some are.
 
i totally agree its so wack when one another hate we're all out thre pushing it theres no need for hate also the new article in like skimag hating on boarders is lame
 
I respect skiers, skiers respect me...I would have just as much dislike towards a skier who was being a dumbass as I would towards a snowboarder. I ride with a bunch of snowboarders and skiers, and there is really no rivalry.
 
The "rivalry" is over. Snowboarders and skiers get along fine...hell, there's more of a rivalry between "oldschool" skiers and NS'ers than there is with snowboarders.
 
depends sometimes i hate on snowboarders because of what they do such as park rat snowboarders go on this one lift on a powder day but can't ride to save they're lives......i hate that, i shouldn't but i do.
 
its all the same... its just witch weapon you chose to slay the hill... but on both sides there are arragont assholes who loathe and dispiese the other

Yeah this topic is beat..I ride with all boarders and if it wasnt for chasing behind them all the time, I dont think I would have ever progressed so fast
 
Boarders are, for the most part a lot cooler than skiers nowadays are. Most skiers are park rats and have no sense of the soul of the sport.
 
i agree with the people who said the rivalry is over. there used to be one with shitty skiers being too cocky towards boarders or when a boarder was too ignorant to realize where skiing was or where it would be heading. now, not only pros are progressing. as we all know, kids in your local park (and probably you too) are progressing like mad. snowboarders were bound notice, and they are definitely starting to notice skiers who go bigger, are more steezy, and shred balls to the wall 24.7 Skiers have earned respect among snowboarders just like skiers have respect for snowboarders who respect the sports of riding. so its all good, i think most kids are down with each other now cause we realize how fun it is to find a perfect patch of pow or ride out switch from the last feature(s) of a park to the lift no matter what youre riding on
 
I'm a lvl3 ski instructor and a lvl2 board ... I have no problems with either, AS LONG AS THEY DON'T CARVE ALL THE SNOW OFF MY FAVORTIE RUN... not that beginners really try to get to the stuff I ski... but if I pay for a lift ticket I want to not have to hike to get to the good stuff
 
In my experiences, anyone who has an “us vs. them” mentality; its personality related and not equipment. I also think the media likes to report on “drama” between the two groups, b/c it sells copies and ads.
 
there's no rivalery between skiers and boarders but there is one between skiers and bladers but that's another story and i don't want to get this thread back
 
i'm the only skier in a big group of snowboarders and i've gotten a bunch to switchto skiing this year. rivalry gone.
