Skiers a not pussys like snow boarders

no offense to snow boarders but when i was watching the extra features on the pull dvd it to a skier to hit the 90ft jump before the snowboarders would this happens all the time at my mountain the skiers are always putting there balls on the line first maybe this means were just retard compared to the snowboarders but i think skiers have more balls

have you ever seen a snowboard movie? like, a jib film for instance? blows skiing out of the water, snowboarders have been doing way more intense stuff way longer before we have the balls to try to grind a rail... the snowboarders at your hill probably just suck
 
Word...snowboarders fuckin' throw it down. You'll always find the little bitchy ones that won't hit shit, but for the most part, they have been killing it for quite a bit longer than skiing, at least in the park aspect of riding.
 
snowboarders jib way better than skiers cuz snowboards shape allow for that while skiers can huck bigger stuff cuz they can go faster and its way easier hitting a 90 ft table on skis than on a snowboard
 
There's no correlation at all. It depends entirely on the attitude of the individual athlete.
 
people who rip on snowboarders are gay.... i dont see why we can't all just be friends :) we all have to share the mountain you can't compare skills of a snowboarder to skills of a skier... its two different sports just in the same "arena"
 
dude i ski with 1 skier and like 5 boarders. whenever somebody lands/tries something sick, they get their props. boarding and skiing is basically the same, only more 12 year olds decide to snowboard "cause its cooler"
 
snowboarders arent pussys.

when you crash on a snowboard, your completly fucked. you dont pop out and hte board just twists and turns, it hurts like a mother fucker.

skiers can pop out. makes life alot easier. even if you din is way up if you fuck up its possible, maybe even most likly that your gonna pop out on a 90 foot jump. theres no way in hell a snowboarder is gonna.
 
Bro, it doesn't matter if you have skis or a snowboard on your feet. When you fuck up testing a jump, you will get fucked up.
 
dude it's cause snoboarding is "cool" but skiing is slowly makeing a comeback, that is atleast for were i live

 
Where my home is, skiing is still seen as the most uncool thing ever. If you have twin tips, you are an outcast.

i wonder why so many people come on ns and bring up the idea that skiers go bigger than snowboarders and snowboarders are pusssies, suck, are gay etc. do they think that since this is a ski site we will join them? snowboarders are sick, i love watching really good boarders rip it up like skiers too. sure as someone said above, snowboarding has a higher percentage of pro ho's and posers but the real boarders are sick. snowboarding has been tearing it up longer than skiing too. i was watching a warren miller film the other day and realized that i enjoyed watching the boarder parts much more than the skier's parts. they were more relaxed, had more style, and just in general let it go. i couldn't stand watching some of the skiers pop turning down the steeps and making perfect continuous turns. i was almost yelling at the television screen for the skier to just let it go. i can see where boarders get their ideas to rip and hate on skiers. ahhh, only if we could all see the progressing aspects of each sport and the connections that lay between the 2 sports. its phenomenal. each sport borrows from one another.

the boarders at my hill are lame. but you really can't go sayin that boarders don't go big. because they are right there along skiing in the big mountain and jib stuff. plus boarding in pow is like no other. you can't get the feelin in skiing
 
i don't think soo. While we have taken more time to get to rails, look at our progression on them. The switch ups, the spins on to rails, and off. Ive seen snowboarders try to copy the switch up after seeing some skiers do it. We may be a little bit behind, but we are getting there. I dunno about you, but when i watch a ski movie, i get alot more pumped them a snowboard movie......except for True Life. That was such a sick movie.
 
They are different sports, its hard to compaire. Look at how gay snowboard racing is compaired to ski racing. . . there are certain aspects of skiing that allows for certain tricks and vice versa. Both are sick in their own right, it is all about the imagination of the rider.
 
The ONLY downside to snowboarding is traversing and flats. Outside of that, snowboarding is a more natural way to slide down a hill.

Skiing's body position is a fairly unnatural stance, which is why we offset our turns by leading our downhill ski infront of the uphill ski (essiential creating a snowboard stance).

However, the ONLY reason sonwboardign appears to be more progressive right now is that the first generation of kids who grew up from a YOUNG age on boards have established themselves as pros.

The Shawn Whites (who started at age 4-5) have a HUGE advantage over older guys who learned after puberty.

We will see skiing take HUGE leaps forward as the first generation of skiers born into newschool take the stage. This will occur in about 5-9 years. I figure the next big thing will be some grom born in 2001, learned to ski on twin tips and whose father/mom was into newschool skiing as well.

My son should be hittin the slopes in two years...watch the fuck out

ok , lets take it from a snowboard standpoint.

speed. it is way harder to get speed for a feature(jumps) on a snowboard. because there ar no poles to correct your speed mistakes, you need to know how much you have to pump, crouch, etc. and if you come up short first time, its a gnarlier crash. thats why most people speed check first. alot of the pros you see hitting huge features have tow ins from sleds. speed is most likely the best reason. its really tough and has alot to do with not hitting things aka bigger tables.

there is also the possibilty that the riders at your hill really suck.

 
Im a skier and that is a stupid f*cking thing to say about snowboarders. If you watch any major snowboard movie they kill skiers with there back-cuntry booters with size, tricks, and style... but skiers are still killin it in the back-cuntry.
 
boarders don't have that big of an advantage in the backcountry. especially off huge cliffs. i'd like to know the highest drop off a cliff by a boarder. i bet it doesn't come close to jamie pierre. (even though he did land it horribly)
 
yea boarders are cool, but skiing gets no respect at all where i live so that is frustrating. just readinbg this thread has gotten me so pumped to go out and try some new stuff on skis.i want to go really big on all the jumps and just try new stuff, i dont care if i eat it really badly, i know how to fall.

I just know that I would rather have both feet out front on a 15ft huck...

But when done right, I think freestyle airs on skies look better...
 
yea its the opposite where i live. skiing is life and boarders are just lame and a nuisance. they weren't even allowed boardin there for the first 20 years or so (the hill's only been open for like 27 years)
 
the reason boarders don't huck huge cliffs is because they can't land in the backseat on their ass the skiers can or else they will snap their back legs. also, progression in snowboarding is directed more towards style, not huge cliff hucks or ballerina spins.

not saying that skiers are all huckers, both sports have their kooks as well as their sick riders.
 
i think it takes more balls to do urban on a snowboard. except for ythe whole nuttage factor, its a lot easier to own youwrself on a rail snowboarding than it is skiing, i think. or its easier to escape disaster on skis, becuase you have poles for support and you can put one foot down to break your fall sometimes. then again trying to do that could hurt you, but ive seen skiiers escape major wipeouts on urban. when you snowboard and you mess up you are pretty much fucked.
 
well i have actualy seen a snowboader poping out but i dont think it is a common acurance the guy riped his binding of his board. preaty dam funny
 
i agree there are way more posser snowboarders then skiers and the balls part well it is way easyer for skiers to kill there balls off a rail then snowboarders

 
agreed...

snowboarding is so sick. snowboard jibs have gotten so insane the past couple of years. state of mind has some crazy riding in it. and that double corked shit over chads is ridiculous. Skiers are ill too, there's certain aspects of each sport that are "better" or "harder" than the other, so just respect both.
