Skichuting is gay!!

They talk about progressing those lines so much, and opening up possibilities, but, they aren't really. Perhaps if they were to drop a large cliff, parachute themselves, and then when they are like 20 feet from the bottom, cut thier chute, and then land and continue to ski the line. That would be amazing.

skarachuting is cool, i hate watching 11 minutes of it over a video. all im waiting for is MSP to make mcconkeys skarachuting the last segment of the movie. then it really wont be a ski video. if skarachuters actually skiied good lines maybe it would be better. all they do is line up a big cliff drop their poles and jump off the shit. pretty repetitive and not at all as cool as watching hugo or someone stomp as massive cliff.

i think that everyone should stop using the word gay as an insult..what are you 12? but yeah it is stupid, im sure its a crazy rush to ski that shit but its like, circus skiing, yknow?

yo, dont say something about something if u have never tried it, who knows, it looks sick and meybe it isnet as gay as you may rhink it is

Agree about the guys talking about opening up new lines but the skiing part before the jump is never interesting, besides Roner in The Dream.

About it not being safe, uhhh ok. Did you see Roner almost slam into the wall in Soul Purpose? McConkey talks about smacking into a cliff wall and tumbling down losing all the skin on his hand in the new SBC Skier.

yeah, i definetly am not a huge fan of the ones where they dont even ski. It takes the whole point out of it. but that one line that erik roner gets as the last shot in the tangerine dream is definetly really sick and should be respected. it was a gnarly ass chute and there would have been no way to ski it without a parachute

^^ ski chuting has as much to do with skiing as urban rails do!!

but you dont see anyone saying doing urban rails is not skiing...

hypocrites...I would rather watch some crazy line on the eiger followed by a 2000-foot cliff than some skateboarder wannabe jibbing a down rail infront of the arco arena

ahhh, the old guard...What would the real wayne wong think?

Here's the problem with what you're saying: No one is bothering to ski a line into a ski-base jump. It's always the same thing; short non-tech straightline to get enough speed to clear the few rocks that could possibly get in your chute's way at opening, into some stupid sized cliff, throw your poles, pull the chute, and float to your landing, where you take off your skis and do what, exactly? Hike back up? Uh..ok...sure...sounds like fun, but do it on your own time thank you. I don't need to pay $30 for a ski movie, only to see you fucking around with your parachute. You're not actually doing anything related to skiing. You're not using any balance skills, you're not using any skiing-related skills at all, in fact. You're just BASE jumping with skis on...so, are you trying to "progress" BASE jumping, or skiing? Seems to me like it's neither, and it's actually just a stunt.

Why not just BASE jump???

Ski-chuting is kinda like mixing cereal with steak. Two things that together you would think add up to greater than the sum of its parts, but in the end add up to less because they just don't mix.

Who the fuck cares who has "the scoop on the bizz" in an opinion like that man... like most people with imagination said..... falling that far would be fun as fuck...... but watching it a thousand times is boring...

I love at ski movie premiers, the first ski chute drop everyone starts yelling like he's gonna ski away, then he pulls the chute and everyone realizes they were duped

Actually people get fucked up all the time. The girl I'm hanging out with works for strong parachutes and she jumps almost ever day. She's a swooper (which is some crazy shit, you should check it out). Anyway, she has had a few friends die, and a ton of friends who have been very badly injured. If you think basejumping and skydiving isn't dangerous, you're misinformed. It's the same with skiing. Some aspects of the sport are safe, but if you think dropping a 90 footer isn't in some way dangerous, there's something wrong with you. One more thing. If you haven't done it, you have no right to talk shit.

i dont care if ive done it or not..its gay and shouldnt be in SKI movies..it should be in skichuting movies, right next to the gay porn movies

haha i thought u were talking about skeetshooting where u shoot the clay pigeons and i was like double tea EFF! haha

^stepping onto a rail from a short inrun or ledge and landing on icerink snow/concrete has less to do with skiing than what shane and JT are doing...

just playing devils advocate cause I HATE hypocrisy....

well, i think that they both include about the same amount of snow, but rail slides actually involve engaging your ski and making contact. Parachuting involves no skiing skill.

I think a couple shots would be ok, but an entiere segment like shane Mcconkey's part was rediculus

when people mention anything along the lines of skichuting is gonna revolutionize skiing i wanna punch them in the nuts....its cool but not cool enough that skiing should be based on it

no one claims that it is going to revoutionize skiing - well maybe it will for those who are skilled and lucky enough to be able to do it...I know it would totally change my outlook at skiing and what is possible, while also opening the door to bigger airs and more confidence on big mountain terrain....imagine, if you can pyche yourself up to huck a 2000-footer, why not spin off that huge ass 50-footer at your local hill...its all about commitment and confidence, and if that is what you learn from skichuting then IT DOES revolutionize the sport for those who do it....

and I still stand by my words that skichuting has AS much to do with skiing as urban jibbing does

a 2000 footer is just gay....you can only do it with a friggen parachute...skichuting is a form of basejumping, not skiing, even tho you have skis on, it doesnt do anything for skiing except make stupid people happy
