Considering when i picked it up, my expectations weren't to read another Freeskier, Powder, SBC Skier, type of mag, I knew that this mag was marketed to a different segment of the skiing population. Ie. somthing like 13-18 year olds, and have a bit of more of a lifestyle aspect to it.
I thought the busy wacky graphics were something fresh, and kept me entertain visually. All the select photos i though were pretty sick.
I thought the interveiws where a little bit more laid back then normal, and weren't so stern and direct to the point. It sounds like a couple buddies having a conversation. And i actually enjoyed them. Gave the interveiw a bit of a different spin on things.
The thing i enjoyed the most and i think was the point of the magazine was it was entertaining. Not so much informative.
Levin's little add space, and alot of the little articles were totally jokes, and i found myself actually laughing out loud.
It's one of those magazines that sits on top of my toilet, and no matter how long from now when i pick it up, it's going to grab my attention, and entertain me no matter what page im on. Rather then something like Powder, which i would read sitting down in my chair in the corner of my living room without the tv on.
So for me i think it hit it's target market and goals. They made an extremely entertaining funny mag, with some sick skiing pictures in it.
Cause sometimes even i get bored reading through some of those long ass articles in Powder, or SBC Skier.
Obviously, we had different expectations when we picked it up. But it met mine, as it was suppose to. I think Harv did a great job. (and im not even in that age bracket).
And when i said go ahead and submit an article to you, it wasn't a challenge. It was merely the truth, if you don;t have time you don;t have time, i wasn't mocking you, i actually think if a NS member could whip up a good article about some/any aspect of skiing, Ski-Time would be into it.
