My friend who lives in Lake Placid used to ski jump a couple years ago. Not sure if he still does or not. I went up to visit him once and watched him jump. It was insane in person.
That video is ridiculous too. I can't even imagine being in the air that long. Crazy.
Do anyone's schools even have teams? I'm from a small town in NH and we've had a team for a while. It's my first year doing it and it is super fun. You get an adrenaline rush just like when you are about to huck off a big jump. We only hit the K38 and I think there might be one town that has a K50.
Last night I was jumping like 32 or 33 meters. And the distance is measured from the lip of the take off to the K-spot of the landing which is essentially the farthest down you can land without hitting flats and that is 38 meters
