Short term car camping is the best. All of the benefits, few drawbacks. I'd advise you to:
Bring two pairs of socks, long underwear, ect. Nothing worse than cold stuff you used the day before
Try to find somewhere to dry out your boot liners and mitts- hand driers in lodges do the trick.
Have your mom (be thankful you still have her to rely on) make you a few sandwiches for lunch. If you have a camping stove (if not, look up coke can alcohol stoves, super easy to make), I'd do spaghetti-os in a can for dinner, and oatmeal for breakfast. Cheap, easy, and quick.
The worst part is going to be finding something to do from 4 (when the mountain closes)-9ish (when you want to go to bed). Try to make some friends places that you can go to and hang out (less likely if you're still in HS) or load up an ipod with podcasts, bring a headlamp and a book, ect. Alternatively, find a coffeeshop with free wifi, grab a cheap drink and browse NS/whatever.
Good Luck!
