pretty much what the title says. would be kinda nice if a lot of us contribute and show us around in the respective hometowns. like where it is, how the skiing is there, what you can do in summer, some info about the town and maybe some pics.

could be one of the top-40 threads of all time or not, you decide.

ischgl-ort.gif

i'll start off. i am from ischgl, austria (paste into google earth: 47° 0'50.05"N 10°17'46.13"E). its in the western part of the country (where the mountains are). the elevation is 1377 m (~4100 ft) and the mountains reach up to 3400 m (+10k ft). around 1200 people live here, but in winter (including tourists and workers), the number goes to about 20000.

4.jpg

so, tons of bars and clubs (regarding the size), hotels, restaurants and so on. actually, ischgl is kinda famous in germany/austria for its nightlife (as evidenced by dozens of ischgl-nightlife-documentations in tv).

pistenpanorama_ischgl.jpg

skiing is kinda sick. lots of slopes and lifts which bring you to the backcountry without hiking. and if youre willing to hike 10-30 minutes, possibilities are literally endless. its still a secret, ssshh!

the park has about 10-15 rails/boxes and over 20+ take-offs. kickersizes from 6 ft to almost 50 ft, everything public. nice little chill out area at the bottom.

cliff_3_gross.jpg

very nice are the concerts. there are 4 major bands playing every year (opening, ending, easter and one spring festival), mostly in the ski resort. die toten hosen, jimmy cliff, sportfreunde stiller were the best ones imo, but pink, alicia keys, tina turner, rod stewart, jon bon jovi, ronan keating, pussycat dolls were also here and the list could go on and on.

in the summer... good question. well, the whole tourism-thingy is tuned down to 10% or so, so its very chill and calm in town. mountainbiking (yes, its me in that pic, on the very right, "working" my ass off as a guide) and hiking are obviously the main activities. we have some downhill tracks and if youre willing to push your bike, you can ride another techy singletrail everyday for at least two weeks. and for XC/marathon biking, its the fucking heaven.

so now, you know more than you need about my hometown, maybe someone else feels lazy enough to present his. i would really like to see some towns from all over the world.

no? i mean i could look up whistler, or Are in sweden or whatever, but if someone who lives there describes it, i think it would be 10 times better.

That was shot in my backyard by my uncle. It was fucking with my dog.
I live in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada right in the middle of cottage country. Probably 100+ lakes in 2 hours drive.

I live right outside of a town w/ bout 400 ppl in it, in Michigan, U.S......."vertical drop" of the hill i ski at (bout 20 minutes away) is bout the same (400 ft), not much powder if any, icy most of the time, and i fuckin love it. Cause "hey", im skiing arnt I?

Central New York State. It has its ups and downs. Our ski hill is a prestigious 500 vertical feet. Some years we get blasted with lake effect, others we get shit, like we did this year. Only seven runs, gets super boring, so it requires you to be creative basically all year. As a result, our park boys are great. Here's some pics:

Aside from skiing, there isn't a ton of culture. Mainly big stretches of wilderness, with the occaisional quaint neighborhood, redneck roadhouse town, and a couple "cities" that are really just rotting ghettos. Here's our "city", Rome:

Casper Wyoming

Great skiing four hours south of me, (colorado) and four hours north of me. (Jackson, Montana) There's zero culture here, besides the fact that someone pissed off the Indians, and there was a fort something here that did something 150 years ago. The nightlife a year or two ago was limited to cruising around downtown, starting trouble, hanging out at the only late night hipster coffee shop, and getting trashed at bonfires. But that's even simmered out these days.

Hogadon

HogadonTrailMap-Lge.jpg

twentyish runs, 600 or 700 feet of vertical drop.

Weird fact about hogadon is that the lodge is at the top of the hill. kinda nice to be able to finish your cheese fries, throw on your skis at the front door and go. i don't know any other hills that are like that.

the bump you see above is a pretty good summation of our park. two, maybe three always sketchy 15 foot tables, a couple shotguns, and a peanut box. this year they went hog wild and threw in an up flat down. our park crew blows, but it's better than nothing.

hint: when trying to achieve an enormous multi-page thread, make it something that people can respond to very easily..

i live in spokane, washington.

heres a picture.

looks like a big city, but its really not, we have a fair bit of old time conservatism going on here, and a grip of rednecks and what not.

this is the truck i drive, i know 3 people with this exact truck within 5 minutes of my house.

It's a pretty dope place. I love it.

yo hit me up when you come through! York needs more NS'rs and less boring tourists.

the area here is rotting because of the 3 prisons we have within 20 miles of each other. all of the scum of the state get sentenced to prison, and their scum family moves in and waits for them to get out. its too bad that they don't go back because our area is being ruined. Theres a lot of great italian restaurant in our city with some amazing dishes that were first made right in it years ago. Zip code 13501 (the scum bucket of a city of utica) had the highest teen pregnancy rate in the country like 3 years ago. i don't know how high it is right now, but i don't imagine that it has changed much.
