Shooting At Va Tech

I can't believe why someone would even do that, RIP to everyone but the shooter.

Also, i ask who's seen "bowling for columbine"? That movie was creepy, and the magnitude of everything this time would be even worse.
 
They closed that dorm and police assumed it was an isolated incedint. If you watched the press conferance when the pres answered these questions thousands of people go to campus every hour to get to class where were they supposed to go? how were they supposed to be informed until they got to class? Police didnt expect the shooter to return.
 
ya but you still got to spread the word even if they thought he wouldnt return. One interview i saw a kid called the school and asked what was going on and the school just said proceed with cautiong to class, then he heard gun shots and saw a wounded kid, i guess thats ok. I personally think they handled it very wrong, i mean if there was a shooting mile away from the whitehouse the W will still be sent to his secret hide out, pure laziness.
 
There campus has 100 buildings, thats alot of people to get rid of. Also, like I said, alot of people were en route after the shootings had occured, there was no way to notify them. I think its EXTREMELY ignorant to think anybody would be lazy about a situation like this they felt they handled it correctly and didnt expect a shooter to return (which, how likely was that? The ideology going through their brains is probably if he wanted to kill alot of people he would do it, not kill 2 people leave come back and kill 30 more.)
 
I go to Columbine and it's terrible hearing that this keeps happening around the world. When I heard about this my stomach dropped because this is truly terrible and affects the whole community and gives a bad name to the school for a very long time. I'd just like to say that Columbine is a great school and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else but Littleton. I send my thoughts to the whole town of Blacksburg and hope this is the last time this ever happens.
 
Who has ideology of killing even 1 person? All im saying is that if i were like a faculty member i would be having kids call kids, emails, raido, fuck get a bullet proof vest and be screaming through a loudspeaker stay in doors. They could have canceled class, ya 1000 people would have to be turned away, they might be pissed, but at least they have their lives.
 
i agree, my neighbor's cousin was shot in the head at columbine and i saw the effects of that, i cant image someone doing that

Its more then 1000 people, and this campus is HUGE what are the cops going to do make a perimeter around the school and tell people? And how are people getting bullet proof vests pulling them out of there asses? You or I have no idea what happend in there so we cant say what they tried/didnt try as of yet but whatever it is it is DEFINANTLY not the police/atfs/fbis fault for not acting quickly enough 15 mins is NOT enough time to prepare for something like a mass murderer killing 30 people not knowing how many are in there killing not knowing what guns he has or ANYTHING.
 
No i agree with you, you and me have no idea what went on. I just said the bullet poof vests because i think schools everywhere should be more prepared for shootings. Not meaning the students need to have them but like faculty meaning principals and shit. I agree the police did there job. If I were to point the blame finger it would be at the School. I think the school should have sent out phone calls to RA's or like teachers after the first two students were shot, just to notify them that kids got capped.
 
I sure as hell know that his situation was that he should NOT have been in possession of a gun and had some mental problems.

I'm not for a ban of guns, but it's way too easy to get a hold of a gun in the US, the procedure is minimal. Combine that with outside factors like mentally unstable people, violent environment, culture and whatnot, and in the worst of cases this is how it all ends, 33 deaths.
 
Until you figure out whether he owned the two handguns that he used (HIS name on the license), it's pointless to argue that gun policies in the US are too lax in THIS situation.
 
Back to gun control, what would have happened if a couple of those killed had a conceal a carry permit? I think if more responsible people went through the loops and conceal and carry was more widely accepted things would be a lot safer. The world is just spiraling downward because of paranoia. People are slowly starting to give up their rights because they are afraid of what might happen to them.
 
Freshman Erin Sheehan told the university newspaper she was in German class at Norris when the gunman peeked in twice "like he was looking for someone" and then started shooting.

The students tried to blockade the door, but the shooter -- dressed in "a Boy Scout-type outfit" -- made it inside.

"I saw bullets hit people's body," Sheehan told The Collegiate Times. "There was blood everywhere. People in the class were passed out -- I don't know maybe from shock from the pain. But I was one of only four that made it out of that classroom." (Watch students react to shooting )

The remaining students, about 20 of them, were dead or injured, she told the newspaper.

and now ive been informed of a completely different friend from a neighboring school district who i may know being shot twice.

i should clarify. my one friend still has yet to respond to me and is an engineering major.

the other girl was shot twice but is still alive and doing well according to 7_springs.

One of my best friends from HS was gonna go to VT for this semester and be in the engineering school...pretty glad he ended up staying here for the time being
 
damn, im playing columbine in lacrosse tomorrow, as for the VA thing i really cant beleive that a person could be so terrible to kill 32 people, i just dont understand some people
 
dude you are stupid. they had almost an hour before class to be informed. it is rather simple to inform the dorms about that. come on now....
 
Inform 9000 people eh? They sent emails phone called people everything they thought the situation was over and done with, and thought the shooter left campus (with evidence), why should I bother arguing with some 14 year old punk anyways.
 
there is a rumor that the shooter was a chinese exchange student but its not confirmed. the ski team from there trains at my hill. prayers and everything go out to them
 
there are actually a lot more than 9000 people on campus((which is kind of contradicting myself)) but anyways. all they would have to do is have some security guards go to each dorm unit and inform it wouldnt be that hard at all. and yeah they sent the emails and 9:07 according to the news, about 20 minutes before the shooting while kids were in class. and im not some 14 year old punk either, get your facts straight.
 
How would they have alerted the school? An email? Not very many people check their email before class. Especially at 8 in the morning. Phone calls won't work. There's 20,000 students. I think this was handled as well as it could have been. You can't just shut down a college that size. These huge campuses are public places and there are THOUSANDS of unlocked doors everywhere that can't just be locked immediately. The only person to blame is the shooter. This is a tragedy.

a friend of mine is a freshman at v tech and she was in the hallway when she heard the gunshots. good thing she booked it the other way.
 
This is terrible. But think: we'll be hearing about this for decades, there will be non-stop coverage of this for days, it will be at least present in the news for weeks investigating what should be done about gun control, school security, who to blame, how to make the police and administration response efficiency better, but 34 people were killed only yesterday by a bombing in Baghdad, and no one has thought twice about it. 36 were killed on Saturday by a suicide bomber, 8 on Thursday inside the Parliament building, and those were just the ones that made the news. I really mean no disrespect to the people at VA, but hopefully this will put some perspective on what is going on in Iraq as a result of our policies.

how can people like that even exist? how can anyone be that evil? if you're fucked up enough to even kill yourself in the first place, do just that: kill yourself. don't take the promising life of another for God's sake. what kind of satisfaction does someone get from this? it's absolutely absurd! what kind of a person doesn't have the common sense to get some help if they're seriously thinking about suicide and mass murder? i try to not hate. i try to love and respect everyone, but there are some who are not people because they are the devil. so to the killer, if there's wifi in hell: FUCK YOU.
