the reason you are getting shin splints is cuz you arn't landing right. you might not realise it, but I will guarantee that you are landing slightly back seat. this is what causes shin splints. I had them so bad a few years ago that I could hardly walk, and I couldn't ski at all. it sucked. I went to physio, and that didn't do a thing... then I tried ski boarding, cuz I couldn't ski... and I learned to land jumps on those things cuz if you land back seat you fall on your ass - so I learned to land on my feet... then I went back to skis, and I haven't had and shin problems since.... so yea... just learn to land your jumps... ski boards are the best thing for it... oh, and landing fakie doesn't hurt the shins either.
