Shin bang cure

dont know what theyre like on the spk's but on my boots theyre a little plastic shim thing that velcros to theback of the liner to give you extra forward lean

The SPK's have something like that, but they have one made out of hard plastic that's bolted on, and then a fabric(or something) one that's attached to the plastic one with velcros.

But how would removing them help?

Nobody's mentioned it but the only thing better than just never landing/skiing backseat (which is impossible), is working out your legs and getting stronger. The stronger you are, the less prone you are to it. I got shin bang very bad when I was younger, but haven't gotten even a little in years.

i struggled with shinbang at the begining of the season, i had it so bad i went to the emergency room and had to use cruches for a couple days. I found i would ride with my boots too loose and the only thing you can do is take as many days off and ice them until when u move your hand up and down on them and apply pressure you wont feel any pain... the only thing you can do is tighten your boots and use booster straps

LOL SUP GUISE I CUT OFF MY LEGS TO CURE MY SHIN BANG, NOW LOOK AT ME GO~

also just make sure your boots are tight enough. i never get shin bang. i landed backseat yesterday off a DOWN RAIL of all things, and i could barely walk today.

fucked up my shins gotta wait it out for a week i think i bought my boots a little too big... i guess pack it with socks will do

I think for me liners are the problem. After skiing this weekend I have deep purple bruises on my shins with lines running through them. Looks like a seam or side of the tongue or something has been causing a hot spot from hell. This is in custom fit technica agent 120s with custom foots beds and boosters. I buckle my boots tight, no slop. I have done everything I can on these boots to make them fit nicely except custom liners and I think that is the final step. After going through this, the full wrap design of the intuitions makes a LOT of sense.

my custom work has failed, footbeds, good idea, but the ankle support things caused massive anle pain even after the third adjustment, gave me some how some nasty toe jamming, and the shinbang got worse. there goes 25 $.

do you really honestly think that's funny?

my best friends little brother lost both his legs and almost all of his fingers when he was like 1 year old, because he had a severe type of meningitis and it was treated too late because the doctor messed up on his diagnosis. If you had really lost a leg would you be happy if someone laughed at you because you had?

if you are being serious, then I say loosen up. He wasn't directly laughing at ppl who don't have limbs. Look at it in the context of the thread. "I have shinbang. ouch my legs hurt...I guess I'll just have to cut them off" Its a joke bc obviously you wouldn't do it. If the thread was "I had to get all my limbs cut off" and someone made fun of them then fine, that would be fucked up.

seriously. What help is this?

This was a thread on what to do to HELP shin bang get better, not what to do to prevent it.

Sometimes shit happens and you get shin bang. Like this past saturday, I was hitting up a three line, came over the first knuckle to get some speed and got hit with wind, lost speed and cased. Fuckin wrecked my shins. No I wasn't backseat nor do I ski backseat. Shit happened.

And to everyone replying with "full tilts" shut the hell up.

This works. Tried it this weekend with an ace bandage rather than atheletic tape and didn't get shin bang once. I also tightened my boots a little tighter than normal

sorry, forgot to finish that thought. i didnt tighten my boot properly and that happened. lol i look like a fucking tard now. my bad

i had some pretty bad shin bang at the start of the season and i could barely walk. you just gotta take a couple days off or just work through it. ive found keeping your boots tight is the best thing you can do but having strong calf muscles will def help. lots of stretching too

get a boot that has a racer fit. toes will be smashed a tad but they will perform well.

not ahuge fan of racers but it seems to work.

the new spk pro has a rubber toe to eliminate this. rad idea.

word.

oh fuck sake evryone says full tilts are awesome. ive had FT booters since christmas. but nowadays i ski once and then have to take 2 weeks off. do i need more time off? will booster straps work?

PLLLLLLLLLZZZZZZZ HELP ME I WANA GO SKIING!!!!!!!

Shit I just got the ill moros hoping it would reduce the shinbang that i get just about every time I ski. Are Dallbello boots actually going to make it worse or does it really make a difference?
Everyone talks about full tilts and booster straps but what makes them work?

YES! I have 4 eliminator pads, one for the front and one for the back of each boot. They significantly help along with a regiment of Biofreeze, ice, and advil.

I coach and teach five days a week and my legs get brutalized. I even have been riding the ace of spades boot from nordica, it has a gel toe pad and vibram backing plates and soles, but these boots hurt more than my old teneighties. Gathering from everyones input, I need to shave my shins, tape my legs, get some superfeet, wear and extra pair of socks maybe and put mouse pads in my liner. Oh and medicate.

Do be honest, I think this really helps. For some reason if I have shin bang, taking like 5 laps on a challenging/steep run, something that gets a good burn going in the calves helps a lot, not sure why it just does. Yesterday I had it bad around 11, skied some steeps and by afternoon in the park the bang was all but gone.

ya tried this and first of all it didnt help at all and secound when i took the tape off it ripped all my hair off and hurt like a bitch. this did not work at all snitch!

because it is firm elastic, it has the ability to keep the tongue consistently pressed against the shin (one of the causes of shinbang is not having the tongue against the shin).

it doesn't cure shinbang for everyone because there are multiple causes of shinbang, but it does address part of the problem.
