But seriously. I have met him. Twice actually, and he was a dick both times. And someone who truly loves to ride will do it at any time, not just when he can ride the park by himself. Is it really tha bad to take laps like everyone else? No. All the other pros do it.
 
if we all took the opinion that the media wants us to have on shaun white then we would all love him. hes the medias golden boy snowboarder. when it comes time for the x games he is all they talk about. thats why everyone hates him, because he is an attention whore. he does everything for money and recognition. every other skier and snowboarder does it for the love of the sport. everything about shaun leads me to think that he does not do this for the love of the sport AT ALL...

Although he is quite good at performing athletically impressive aerial maneuvers with a snowboard attached to his feet while dressed like Freddy Mercury, I do not enjoy watching him snowboard.

DId you even read my post? Because your response has nothing to do with my statement. I'm not hating on Shaun because it's the cool thing to do, I'm hating because of how he represents snowboarding. You're right I am jealous that he's fucking bar rafeli, drives lambs, flys out to tahoe in his private jet, and hangs out with rockstars. Congrats on his success. i can give two shits about throwing dub 12's and boosting 18 feet out of the pipe, because guess what you can't either.

Let me reiterate why I dislike shaun because you clearly didn't get it the first time.

I don't like shaun be cause he's a poor representative of snowboarding to the general public. To me skiing and snowboarding are stupid fun and even more fun when you ride with friends. Watch how shaun reacts when he loses, does he run up and congratulate the winner like tanner does, no he storms off, class act man. What does Shaun do when Red Bull gave him a special project? he goes and build a private super pipe in the middle of nowhere. What does Travis rice do he creates one of the greatest comps ever and invites all his friends to session it. I would much rather see guys like travis rice and torstein get more public exposure over shaun.

Im gonna agree with the guy saying shauns a dick for closing down a certain part of the mountain just so he can ride.I am got a pass to northstar this season and i will be pissed if i make 20$ drive up there and see that the park is closed becuase of him.
 
I'm on the northstar competition team and all the money spent on that pipe/closing down the mountain/the pipe foam pit, comes out of the northstar park budget, so instead of just maybe throwing down $50000, which is nothing to him, he makes the northstar team suffer by not allowing the public park to be bettered.

Also, he had a transworld shoot last year, and about 180 people lined up in the trees of the run and snowballed the living shit out of him. It was so bad that now whenever he rides, he rides with security gaurds, i swear to god.

but that sucks with the whole park situation. start pooping on the lips before he does each run. and by lips i mean his lips.
 
shaun white is easily the most hated winter sport athlete out there. no doubt about it. skiers AND snowboarders hate him cause he is a fucking douche
 
Shaun White is the snow sports equivalent of that popular kid everyone hates but no one has a real reason as to why.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and ask if anyone has a valid reason to dislike Shaun White? So far these seem to be the common arguments:

"He misrepresents snowboarding"

If you're the type who wants the snowboarding industry to thrive, get used to phony marketing. Want to know what a thriving snow sports industry looks like? REI and the Ellen Degeneres show. Not fucking heshers or soul carvers because the rest of the world doesn't give a flying fuck about them. They want a Johnson & Johnson branded "face" on the Today show, not some random guy with a far out style.

"This one time he wasn't nice to me/a friend"

Just because you were on the wrong end of a game of telephone where your brother's roommate's cousin said he didn't enthusiastically kiss his ass when he bothered him in public doesn't make it true. True, public figures have a responsibility to the public, but when you're that big can you really blame the guy? I'm sure if hundreds of little fuckheads bombarded you in the lift line you wouldn't be a bucket of laughs yourself.

"He dresses funny"

I agree, but genuinely getting upset because of how other people dress is far worse than dressing like a fairy.

"He doesn't do rails" or "His style sucks."

Some of the best riders in the world couldn't care less about rails. Who gives a fuck. The great thing about snowboarding is that everyone has their own style. It's not a reason to hate a dude.

So I ask, does anyone have a valid reason to hate Shaun White that isn't complete bullshit?
