Sending more troops to iraq

theres already a thread but i think a slight increase wouldnt hurt, the iraqis do need to know that we arent gonna do it for them though.
 
I dunno, he's going against the advice of everyone. It just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Flooding Iraq with 20,000 more soldiers...it just seems like he's putting more lives on the line. Why does he insist on going against top generals, the Iraq study group, and millions of Americans? I feel like I don't know quite enough about it yet, but from what i have read and seen it seems like a poor decision.
 
war is dumb. i like bush, but he is sooo damn idealistic to think that he can send so many people to die in a foreign land, when he doesnt even know what iraqis want. just some lame manifest destiny shit.

and why do leaders get into an argument, kill tons of soldiers, meet, settle things with signing shit, and things go back to the way it was before war.

Why not send 20,000 more troops? Its the best decision he has ever made and I bet you by fall of 2007 Iraq will be neutrialized.

Are you trying to tell me that by sending 20,000 more soldiers in no less than 8 months everything in Iraq will be just peachy? Put down your crack pipe sir, it's fucking your brain up.
 
Lets face it. No matter what we do at this point, it will only lead to more supposed failures. We have dug a hole to big to get out of with 20,000 or even 200,000 troops. Bush painted himself into a corner. The only "peace" that will come from Iraq is through their own civil war and an eventual creation of three countries with their own respective ethnic majorities, thus propagating the situation of ethnic rivalries that have dominant in the middle east for centuries.
 
Uh, newsflash, there AREN'T 20,000 more troops to send. He's going to have to send reserves over sooner while simultaneously keeping the guys already serving over there in Iraq for longer than they were supposed to be. So yeah, misleading terminology. Also, no one besides Bush seems to think this has a point to it aside from getting more Americans killed. So, solid plan, people die so the president can look like he didn't back out without one last push. That should comfort their families plenty.
 
^exactly, we dont have the troops and a lot of his top generals didnt support this surge of troops to Iraq, so he fired them.

the larger the target the easier it is for people to make an effective suicide bombing. think about it more troops more resistence from people who dont want american soliders and politicians telling them how to run their country. what makes the american form of democracy the best?

because millions of Americans don't know what the fuck they are talking about...how many Americans died in WWI and WWII. How many in Vietnam. How many in Kereoa. In every war we have ever faught in there have been lives lost. Thats what war does, and the fact that we have lost what 3000 soldiers? A small fraction of 130,000 i would say. I have spoken with multiple soldiers that have come back from Iraq, officers and enlisted, and all I have heard is that its war, shit happens, and everything is not what the press plays it out to be. They have all said that yes, there are some issues with the plan of the US government but it is not as out of control as the press plays it off to be. They have told me they were shocked when they came home and watched the news for the first time. I have a friend who works as a high ranking military officer working for the Surgeon General and is in charge of nearly all military and civilian hospitals in the region and he has told me many a time not to listen to the press and to always call him for any questions.

However, as with any issue there are two sides, and both those sides are always know to overexagerate in one direction or another. I just hate it when people watch the 6 o' clock news and think they are experts on the subject. (I got done ranting and realized that i have deviated from the origional post so dont take offese to anything I said)
 
they will send in more troops and make a final push and then probably pull out and leave some green baraide people in iraq to train the iraqi police, just like vietnam.

South America is not the most stable place we could take troops from. Also we have written obligations to some of those countrys to have a certain amount of soldiers in said countries.
 
Well personally, I don't see why he isn't sending 200,000 more troops. Why not just send every US male between the ages of 18 and 40 over to Iraq?

This is getting to be absolutely ridiculous. The US should become isolationist again. We should keep naval forces on patrol around the world, but bring back most ground forces.

wat u mean leave it to an australan, if u havnt noticed we have sent troops to iraq as well. our government isnt part of the solution at all.

but atleast we dont force our political beliefs onto other countries. eeast timor for example, we freed those people for an opppressive regime but then we let then set their own system up. he had no political influence on how that government was establsihed. and nor should america with how iraq's government is created. the main reason your still their is to secure oil for a few more years.

bush said in his speach, "the situation in Iraq is un acceptible for american citizens" like most of you really give a shit what happens in a country on the other side of the world. your government cant even run your domestic health care properly, y would the american public care whether or not Iraq is running to the same democratic beat as the "land of the free"
 
How can you make that accusation? Obviously a lot of us care about Iraq or else there wouldnt be such a big controversy on how shitty it is over there. Sure, our country has plenty of its own problems, what country doesn't, but that has absolutly no bearing on whether the american populous cares about not fucking a country over.

What I dont get is some people want this war, but dont want to be on the battlefields fighting and dying for whatever the cause is.

 
Since every other country on the planet seems to hate what the US did with Iraq, why don't they do something about it? There is a huge problem in Iraq and since everyone seems to think it's Bush's fault why don't they go in and do something about it? (I'm not talking about individual people, I'm talking about countries)

Personally I think it's a good idea. The armed forces in Iraq don't have full control over insurgents, and by sending 20k over violence will DECREASE, saving more lives of soldiers and civilians and establishing a more civil enviornment for the Iraqi's who are afraid of going against these insurgents in fear of being killed.

Yes, I admit single handedly fucked over a country who fucking hates my guts. I personally took on an emeny who I can't even tell is an emeny till a IED goes off and strap metal is flying. All by myself, I sniffed out IED's and located terrorist hide-outs and neutriziled them. Also, by lonesome, I helped hundreds of sick and hungry Iraqi's. And by helping them (by myself), I have proved to them that America is not at all that terrible. Isolated and alone, I captured Sadaam and hung him. FYI, he's killed thousands of people with chemical weapons and FYI, that is again the NATO rules. I also recieved 3 purple hearts, medal of honor and a navy star.

No need for the fuck off but all i say is do you really think the Iraqi people give a fuck you helping them.I bet most of the kids that run up to your humvees begging for water and a source of nutrition would hope you would get the fuck out of the country or die. At the end of the day Saddam kept unity for both the Christian and Mulsim religons in the country now all there is ,is civil war.You just dont understand politics and religious movements only what you load into your M4 carbine and predator missles which normally hit a civillian home rather then their actual targets.

Please enlighten us, although you yourself have failed to mention one of the largest groups (Kurds) and have given no hint to any knowledge to the former political structure of Iraq or what the future political blueprint is designed to achieve.
