Scientists cure cancer, but...

That's fucking amazing if it's true, but I have doubts. I can't believe our media is so corrupt that there wouldn't be a little mention of this if it is true.

Well i researched a little bit and it's not completely bogus, but that article exaggerated quite a bit. DCA has shown promise in simple cell-line killing tests. I guess there is Phase 1 and Phase 2 of testing. If a drug shows promise in Phase 1, there is about a 10% chance of FDA approval. Since DCA has already been used in humans it can probably start in Phase 2 testing, so the chances are higher. Once the drug is tested on humans, then we'll really know if it'll work.

hopefully its true

iv herd of this before. if its true that would be amazing, is it parecetomal that docent have a patent? some guy will be kicking him self cos hes loosing out on the largest produced drug in the world

It's BS, there was an exact same story a few months ago but it was 'Scientists cure cancer and don't tell anyone'

^^^ prob just means the drug companies would miss out on all the side line drugs that will make there money because if they had one wonder drug they cured everything the the drug companies would loose money

I bet they've had the cure for a long time now.. they just don't wanna give it out because people in hospitcals make money... less sick people.. less economy

its not that hard to believe. there is already a drug that cures obesity, but it's illegal to prescribe in the US because of the FDA.

that's cynical as fuck...I don't think it's a credible report. The media isn't aware of this because this dudes website is about as credible as The Onion

really? you would think the positive outcome's would outweigh the negatives...i mean are severly obese people really "alive" in a sense?

Hmmm... I'm undecided on this. DCA does do what the article says, but I think the reason it hasnt been released to the press is not due to drug companies in a massive conspiracy... Its because there are hundreds of other things out there that are potential 'miracle' cures for cancer as well. To date, all of them have had massive side effects or limited functionality.

The problem with DCA is probably two-fold. One, it probably has various side effects on parts of the brain and other organs, as its a small molocule that can easily slip by membranes. Two, it works by inhibinting an enzyme that inhibits mitrocondrial function.... there wouldn't be an enzyme to inhibit that function unless it was needed for something. Last, DCA probably still wouldnt work on all types of tumors and cancers. Cancers are by no means universal in what can mutate and what can form. Thats why its almost impossible to create a cure-all-cancer drug.

Dont be so hasty to jump to conclusions. There are perfectly good reasons why DCA and many other drugs havent hit the market yet. Besides, if it works so well, why hasnt someone just made the substance (its relatively simple in terms of biological compounds...) and market it themselves?

Yeah, about that....

We're completely fucked if we get a cure for cancer. Overpopulation would destroy our species in a few generations unless everyone gets fat and dies of heart disease.

Oh don't worry, we have hundreds of other ways to kill ourselves. Smoking, obesity, AIDS, bird flu, climate change, war, nuclear weapons, and I'm sure they'll find a new deadly disease one of these days. Overpopulation should not be a reason why we don't cure cancer.

Yeah, my science teacher preaches about how people should ideally ban all medicines and cures of diseases, so the world doesn't overpopulate.

He's a prick, but it's probably true to some extent.

We're really just helping natural selection by using antibiotics. Most of the antibiotics developed in the 1970's are obsolete because bacterial strains that break out in hospitals are usually immune to the drugs. Mutations of genomes are infinite, drugs able to kill bacteria are not.

yeah, i've heard that, and it's kinda sad but true. Diseases will take over the world (by killing all the humans)

yeah i think this is bullshit if they found a cure they would get a patent and sell it really high to a drug company so they could sell it higher.

yeah its the caddies. RBF is fuckin sick though. just bought "our live album is better than your live album" and its fuckin sick. 2 discs and a dvd for 20 bucks!! fuck yeah

First off, it's not bullshit. Well, not complete bullshit at least. The chemical DCA, which is this "miracle drug" it talks about, has shown some cancer-killing potential but it has to be tested on humans before we know if it'll really work. And you can't patent it because it is just a chemical compound. It's like if someone tried to patent sodium chloride, or H20, or oxygen. You can't do it.
