Sarah Palin: "You can actually see Russia from here in Alaska"

Do you mean authority over your president or about the Iraq situation? Because if you mean Iraq I think Europeans have as much authority over it than Americans.

well yes the islands can see each other on a clear day, but the mainlands cannot...I mean does that really count? What a ridiculous statement to make in regards to a fortified foreign policy.

Kenya? what is that a joke?

You cant be a puppet if your the commander and chief (even bush was not a puppet, he was just an idiot) A puppet gets their power from the puppeteer and TAKES ORDERS. Hamid Karzai, is a puppet.

The Democratic party was not the source of Obama's popularity, or fund raising. Nor would they have sway over him if he was their countries leader.

Theres a reason they call them 'Conspiracy Theories' (FYI its because they're all totally unscientific bullshit)

Facts only please, not just outlandish anecdotes.

Looks like you don't actually have a point, but thanks for playing.

We're all fucked anyways.. Why do you guys get so crazy about pollitics? I dont even watch TV, but I know that whatever happens is going to happen. Everything that is going on right now is going to blow up in our faces 20 years down the road anyways.. I dont see how a different president is going to fix what has already been done. If anyone has watched End Game they will know what I am talking about. Sure its a biased movie but still it is hard to deny what is going on.

Haha, I like how I don't like McCain so you assume I support Obama. I don't. But he's not just a pawn of his party, he's a pawn of "special interests" as well. Just as McCain is and just as Palin is to McCain. But I'd like to know where you heard that Kenya thinks he's a puppet. My good friend just spent all summer living there and they love Obama so much they went as far as calling him Obama and he's a white ginger kid. They love him there.

someon posted this comment to an article at cnn.com. it reminded me of ns

McCain is like a skier on a mountain of moguls jumping from lie to lie without conscience. While little miss thanks but no thanks Palin follows him going downhill on her showmobile, running over anyone that crosses her path. These liars have been exposed in the media. And their lies will continue to be exposed during the debates.

So much foreign policy experience, she doesn't want anyone to see her use it.

NEW YORK - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin,

who has not held a press conference in nearly four weeks of

campaigning, on Tuesday banned reporters from her first meetings with

world leaders, allowing access only to photographers and a television

crew.

CNN, which was providing the television coverage for news

organizations, decided to pull its TV crew, effectively denying Palin

the high visibility she had sought.

The campaign told the TV producer, print and wire reporters in

the press pool that follows the Alaska governor that they would not be

admitted with the photographers and camera crew taken in to photograph

the meetings. At least two news organizations, including The Associated

Press, objected and were told that the decision was not subject to

discussion

(Associated Press:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080923/ap_on_el_pr/palin_leaders)

My assumption is that the campaign was just trying to avoid the inevitable embarassment of their VP candidate being unable to identify nations that AREN'T visible from her back porch. Can hardly blame them.

hey lets look at the bright side, i bet she can speak off the cuff about how many states there are?

ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh we've been to 57 states...

I'm not even going to bother pointing out the correct context of that, only say that that has to be the forty thousandth time that, when confronted with the abject failure of Sarah Palin as a politician and a prospective leader of this country, a republican who is at a complete loss for any means by which to defend her, changes the subject to what he thinks of Obama.

Desperate much?

dont you see, Barack is running for PRESIDENT, Palin is running for VP...

if you want to argue foreign policy it should be McCain vs Obama....

misguided much?

i am just 100% sick of EVERYONE portraying Palin as a "dumb bitch"

there is a 70% chance that McCain will die during his term, leaving Palin as President. therefore, she is of MASSIVE concern.

You literally have the memory of a small furred mammal. Perhaps a dog. You have said that on this site at least a dozen times. I, or someone else, has responded to you, either by pointing out that VP is still an important position, that McCain could very easily die, leaving Palin as president, or simply by pointing out that it doesn't matter what she's running for, she's the one we're talking about here, stop changing the subject because you can't defend her. That last one applies very nicely here, by the way. And yet, you keep saying the same things over and over again, as if they're fresh and new. What is this, amateur hour at the Sean Hannity school of debate? Learn to read. I'm not even talking about the democratic ticket. I'm pointing out that the bottom half of your ticket, which could easily become the top half, is completely dead weight. And you have zero response to that, so you change the subject to one of many tired wingnut memes and tabloid-politic trash because you have no response, no counter-argument, no ground to stand on in telling me that I'm wrong. She's simply useless. And nominating her was simply irresponsible.

first off, SHUT THE FUCK UP about me having the memory of a small mammal... i know you are "God of the universe", but really STOP.

second, a dozen times? really?

i agree, she is not qualified to be president, ok? GOOD?

but you dont have a crystal ball(or maybe you do?) to tell you if McCain is going to die...

i love how when ever someone talks about obama being inexperienced the debate ALWAYS turns to Palin... (not necessarily you)

again, my main issue is EVERYONE on NS calling her a dumb bitch, and i know i have seen those EXACT words.

oh sorry, i should have said AT LEAST a 70% chance he will die before the end of his term. of course that statistic only factors in age, not his personal health or other variables.

lol. did anyone watch his interview with palin? i assumed it would be total pandering fluff, so i didnt bother watching it

this thread is about Palin though...NOT OBAMA. so you're the one switching the debate in this case.

and, imo, she is a dumb bitch. i'm not going to change my opinion of the woman unless SHE proves otherwise.

well YOU CANT make an anti obama thread when there is already a active political thread, just ask JD...

only ONE political thread at a time, NO MATTER THE ISSUE BEING DISCUSSED.

Political threads on NS aren't "about" anything in particular after the 10th post... it just turns into a shitshow. Consequently he can talk about Obama if he likes. The thing I find incredibly desperate and amusing is that he thinks repeating right-wing talking points about Obama counts as a counter-argument to what's wrong with Sarah Palin.

well since we are only allowed to have one political thread going at a time, why not bring up Obama's inexperience.

He is the one running for President not Palin.

Plus, if you were to add up the total foreign policy experience of the both tickets, the republican ticket would win hands down.

with mccain a step away from deaths door if palin is president then she will actually ruin the world

the humans will actually be dead

I love too how democrats argument is soooo dependent on the death of senator McCain. People live to be much older....it is just such a pessimistic view.

ie ":well if Mccain dies then we are screwed if Palin is President"

how about this for a try.....

if Obama is elected then we are screwed. He has no experience period.

Well I'm in a library, so I don't get CNN here... but even if that's true, I hardly "fail" for pointing out that before the one you're saying just happened, there was a month and a half long period where he didn't hold any press conferences. See how that works?

dear god give the woman a break. She's under so much stress like everyone else envolved and will probably make mistakes while speaking on occasion. Honestly, its kind of sad that people are so desprite to dig up all the dirt they can on her in 4 months. Its a lose lose election and you all know that. we either end up with another bush who supports mad money printing or a boarderline socialist backed by a lawer who will drive our taxes through the roof and will proceed to drive the country into chapter 11. honestly, we just need someone who isnt stuffed full of shit, unfortunatly, people like that never kiss enough ass to get too far in politics.

^I like how you don't discriminate: you've managed to blindly stumble into honest belief of BOTH parties' negative talking points about the other side.

Haha because Palin deserves a break why? Every candidate VP or Presidential should have their closet cleaned out publicly and fully by the time election day rolls around. Unfortunately for her, she's got a lot of shady things that aren't making it easier. Attach that to her endless sarcasm and you get her current situation.

The Argument Against Idiots:

Joe Biden vs Sarah Palin

How to win the argument de jour with logic and facts

The issue:

'Joe Biden vs Sarah Palin'

What the liberal whiners say:

'You conservatives are all tingly over this Sarah Palin, but there is no contest between her and Senator Joe Biden'

'Joe Biden has 35 years experience in the U.S. Senate. Palin was a beauty queen runner up and town pastry chef in EarWax, Alaska!'

'Joe Biden is a statesman. She can't compare to Biden when it comes to those kinds of qualities'

'The fact that John McCain picked a woman from EarWax, with 2 years experience running a state with about 600,000 people in it, shows his amazing lack of judgment'

Your winning, logical, reasoned arguments

1. You got that right! Palin has energized the whole country. Biden generated all the excitement of a bathroom bowl brush. Sarah Palin is a true conservative who has taken on corruption in her own party. Joe Biden wouldn't even condemn the Moveon.org attack on General Patraeus.

2. She was Miss Alaska runner runner-up. But she also served as a two-term city councilman and two term mayor in Wasilla, Alaska. And if we're looking for change in Washington, why pick a guy who's been there for 35 years?

3. Right. He was very statesman-like when he said that Barack Obama was the first, sort of bright, mainstream, articulate, CLEAN African American who was a good-looking guy and that, that was a fairy-tale, man! Or, when he told the Indian-American reporter that his state, Delaware, had a fast-growing influx of immigrants from India? And that you couldn't go into a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts in his state without a slight Indian accent? Is that the kind of statesman you're looking for?

4. Joe Biden thought McCain's judgment was pretty good just a couple years ago, when he said that he'd be "honored to run with or against John McCain because I think the country would be better off". Now that this wonderful "statesman" is running against John McCain, all of a sudden his good opinion of McCain has radically changed. Statesmanship or typical partisan politics?

^Nice cut and paste job there. Where's that from, the fox news forums? Here's a little game: try forming your own opinions instead of ingesting them from some fringe website. That was just pathetic.

hey i never siad she was fit for the position. And in this day and age cleaning out that closet really isnt that easy. Obama and McCain are getting all kinda of crap dug up, the press as well as the opposing party is gonna get a hold of any chance they can to bash the canidates

really though george washington would probably want to bash all of our faces in right now because he hated party politics in general

Dude he does have his own opinion, these facts just happen to bring it out. You cant knock a guy for posting facts that he finds on another website,,,,or is that not allowed now either.

That's better referred to as "editorial" than "fact" (it's obviously very selective in the information it offers and the tone in which it's offered, which is why the "logic" thing was so funny), and yeah it's allowed, it's just pretty sad that people are willing to let others do their thinking for them and are unable to express their own viewpoints on things.

Obama has the same presidential experience that McCain has - zilch. I love how we all think that the job of the president is best assumed by someone who's reacted to past situations in some way or another in some manner they like best. It's bullshit. A modern country needs someone who can think on their feet and demonstrate composure and adaptability to new situations, not just some monotonous robot who's been lucky in the past.

If he does have his own opinion I would definitely like to read it, I would value it much higher than those "facts" that you speak of that happen to be the opinion of Glenn Beck. I see so much shit posted on this website as "facts" from that fat ass it's absurd.

no... a modern country needs an executive who is familiar with procedure and policy as well as situational protocol...

2 of the 5 principles of politics:

history matters

rules and institutional procedures are significant factors in policy outcome.
