Oh please. I'm in Alaska and Sarah only got the job as governor for 2

reasons: 1) We had an unpopular incumbent (whom she beat in the

primary) and 2) her Democratic opponent was someone who already been

governor twice. We didn't vote FOR her as much as we were voting

AGAINST the other guys.

It's been proven up here already that she does not know what she's

doing. And NOW she's a heartbeat away from the presidency - which will

probably happen as the stress and pressure of the presidency will kill

McCain, who would be the oldest elected person if he wins.

If incompetence makes you excited, then I guess I know who you will be

voting for in November. Gullible and foolish people like you is exactly

what McCain is hoping to gain with this foolish choice.

I really do have to point out the hypocrisy of republicans in respect to candidates service records. Kerry and McCain are even in my eyes on their honor and willingness to serve their country, but the way Kerry was disrespected in 2004 made me sick. Really shows you how party lines divide this country so irreparably deep.

3) The Clinton years have proven to be the lowest unemployment and strongest economy since world war 2. Under Clinton and Greenspan our national debt would be zero this year. That surplus was burned up in year 2 of Bush. Small government lower taxes my ass.

4) Bush told the american people that Iraq would last less than a year and cost 100 million dollars... We are now over 1 trillion dollars into this thing.

5) The list goes on and on do some research on the Heritage Foundation the Haliburton contract the countless claims of war profiteering.

And McCain voted with this administration 90% of the time. His party stood behind bush at every turn. Why do you want to continue down this path? How can you look back at the last 16 years and not see the obvious advantages between Clinton and Bush? Our economy is near collapse, our energy supplies are in danger, our rights are being trampled (patriot act), and our moral superiority over the rest of the world is nonexistent (water boarding etc), just to mention a few things.

And the sugar on top a vice president nominee that is so inept that she does not know what the bush doctrine is and stumbled through an entire interview not answering one question. Thanks but no thanks Palin.

And this shit might just work. Fuck bush got elected twice. America apparently loves someone leading this country of less than average intelligence.

And the sad part is because people like Carl Rove young people like yourself along with a lot of Americas still stand behind these people.

It wasn't her pastor who said that either. And no, her pastor is not insane. If you saw the interview they had with him on TV, he seems completely normal, even tempered, and not judgemental at all.

I never said that I liked Palin. I never said that I liked Mccain. I never said that I liked Obama, or Biden either.

I think it's important that if there are going to be threads like this, that the majority of what is posted be accurate. Believe it or not, there are people on this site whose only source for political information is NS. So yeah, if someone posts something, and I know it to be a rumor that's been twisted, I'm going to try to clear things up.

If you don't like Palin, fine. If you like Palin, fine. But at least get your facts straight.

America wants to see and hear the fluff, not the actual issues at stake. Sadly, the majority of American citizens have become mindless idiots. Just watch some of these people at both candidates rallies, it's pathetic. Waving big signs screaming for a presidential candidate? That alone shows how skewed Americas views on politics are. The whole presidential race has turned into a beauty pageant. It's completely wrong, and I have a feeling that it's just going to get worse. American needs a HUGE reality check right now. As a country, we need to stop and look at ourselves and re-think our views and people need to re examine why they are voting for their preferred candidate. Obama, McCain, and Palin are all image and all talk. Palin most of all. Is this lady really fit for office? Who the hell is she? Why her? What has she done? Why wont she let herself be interviewed? Why isn't she talking about any of the important issues? I see and hear more of her than Oabama and McCain combined now. You know why? Because she puts on a smile, looks good, and boosts ratings.

And lets not forgot Biden, where the hell has he been? He is just as important as Palin. Oh wait, he's not important because he's not a pretty woman from Alaska...

i think although mccain served this country his failure (being captured) shouldnt be a large part of his campaign. knowing mccain was a pow actually deters me from voting for him. if i had been captured and tortured i know i would be harboring a deep and powerful hate inside of me and i wouldnt like someone with those feelings making key decisions in a time of war
 
Palin is in the spotlight because she came out of nowhere...people are intrigued. Many people had never heard of her before a couple of weeks ago and want to know as much about her as possible, whether it be legit, or just rumors, people want to hear about her. Everyone knows Joe Biden, and so far there's nothing that the media can use regarding Joe that will bring more ratings than Palin.

and now I'll attempt to answer some of your questions:

1.) is this lady really fit for office?

- What do you mean by fit? She's the governor of a state, that has been enough for quite a few people to get into office. I guess it is a matter of personal opinion, although I think people should check their hypocrisy if they say she's not experienced enough while simultaneously wearing their Barack Obama shirt.

2.) who the hell is she?

- She's the former mayor of a town in alaska, and the current governor of alaska (2 years).

3.) why her?

- Mccain needed something that would take the spotlight off of Obama, that would get him back in the race. Something that would make him look like he was a candidate for change as well. Someone who would bring life back to his campaign. At the same time, he needed a woman, so that the women who were voting for Hillary, who felt scorned, and still wanted to vote for a woman, had a new candidate to go for. He chose the most qualified woman he could find, and took into consideration the issue of energy/oil...and Palin happens to be a female governor in the state that holds the majority of our country's oil/natural resources.

4.) What has she done?

5.) Why wont she let herself be interviewed?

- because the mccain advisors do not think that she's ready. They don't want her to mess up or say something that they'll get flamed for. Also, this controversy is kind of over, because she is allowing herself to be interviewed.

6.) Why isn't she talking about any of the important issues?

- she is. If you don't think that our economy, energy resources, and foreign policy are important issues than I can't help you out with this question.

All I was saying is that this election is getting pretty ridiculous and that I really don't believe it's about the politics anymore. I don't consider myself Liberal or Republican, I'm very moderate.
 
I understand that you were being sarcastic, but every person who comes into this thread or others, who has a pro-obama, and anti-mccain/palin stance, just spits off a bunch of rhetorical questions, questions they're just regurgitating from the media, as a form of bashing, when all of the questions have reasonable answers, and if someone wants to challenge any candidate, they should come up with something substantial. Rather than "who is this bitch anyway"....crap.
 
you know and I know that the McCain Palin collaboration, if elected, will be a fucking disaster. If you know about politics, which apparently you do, seeing as you seem to have a serious enthusiasm for editing statements, if these 2 are elected there will be inconceivably terrifying implications. You might want to make things look as accurate as possible, but in this case, ignorance may be bill and we need to do anything we can to avoid these 2 in office. McCain wants more wars, I watched a video of many of his recent (last year or so) speeches and in almost all of them he says "I know you don't want to hear it, but I'm calling on all of you to serve for this country, there will be many more wars"
 
See, I just wish that when people posted statements like this, they ellaborated a little more. What is it about the potential Mccain/Palin administration that is terrifying to you? If your answer is that you think Mccain will lead our country to more war, then fair enough. But if there are other things you're insinuating please clarify.
 
Pesonally, it's that he says "fight with me" all the time and has an uncontrollable temper. I don't want that in someone who's going to be leading the country into the coming years.

No, it's a big deal because Palin, and most all republicans who must pander to the evangelicals to have any prayer of being elected, is a proponent of "abstinence education" vs. sex education. Perhaps if Palin had stressed the importance of safe sex and birth control instead of warning her daughter against the certain damnation of her soul for having premarital sex, another CHILD wouldn't be on the verge of giving birth to another.

Seriously guys, we're on the verge of creationism being taught alongside darwinism in public schools. The outlawing of abortion appears to be imminent.

Economic policies aside...is this what people want? How anyone in good conscience could vote republican in this election is baffling to me.

Let's face it... the quaint idea of "small government" is no longer evenly remotely tied to the republican party. Furthermore, it's an antiquated concept that in know way is practical in today's climate. I respect the fiscally conservative. I respect the idea of people being free to do as they choose without unecessary governmental involvement. Unfortunately, unjustified costly wars, and the eversteady erasure of civil liberties ala the Patriot Act represent neither of these cornerstones of "conservatism".

I'm so distraught over these latest polls that I can't even string together a logical argument...ahhh

yea i dont think its the main issue here but technically it is possible because there are 2 islands withing 2 miles of eachother, one belong to US and one Russian so she makes it sound different but it is very possible

McCain's campaign also tried to insinuate that McCain, in his role as a member of the Commerce Committee Actually made the BlackBerry happen. Not true, at all.
