SAGA+LDC+TREW+FD read up

thats a good idea, i wanna see how a 900 dollar magic suit holds against saga, ldc, trew or FD

Where do you live?

I also think I would be a great candidate to test shit out. So far this season, I have gone through 2 pairs of skis, EP Pros, and ON3Ps. after I broke my EP Pros, I had to rent some skis, I rented Rossi S7's, and did quite a large amount of damage to the skis. I also just received my hellbents, and made half a run, and the skis sidewall is peeling off.

So if any companies are willing to send me skis to test out, I'll be willing to test them. I also ski everyday of the season, I tour a ton, ski big mtn, bc, pow, and a little bit of park.

So i'll give an unbiased opinion as well.

Its just a name, and it's old, I haven't changed it for several reasons. I wasn't even going to be skiing on K2's until I destroyed 2 pair this season.

No hate intended but if you're going through skis like that your going way to hard on your skis. I rode my dads hellbents for 2 months when I was learning rail slides (rails, not boxes) and I ABUSED those bitches and never ever had a problem with them. PS I'm 6'4 220 pounds so I'm not easy on skis.

Not to hate on Salomon but I got the G suit and I'll put a little review out there. It kinda sucks. My jacket has been used for about a total of 25 days, and the pants about 20.The big metal S on the pants fell off about a week ago while I was walking through the lodge. I was walking back to my table and there was a big gold S on the floor and Is tarted freaking out (not really). And the material of the suit is not very durable either. I don't abuse that shit at all and there are little holes popping up everywhere. The jacket on the other hand, feels a little thicker and the fabric feels different so I give them props for making the jacket better but the pants are just falling apart with barely any abuse and use.Again not hating on Salomon, I'm just putting a little review in. And also not to jack this thread I just didn't think this was thread worthy and this was a kind of review thread for this guy so I thought I'd put some input.Just saying haha.

My totally unbiased opinion is that Trew will kick the shit out of this test.

But props for doing it, and I'm eager to hear results as they come in.

Too hard on skis? How is that possible? I've been in the park for 3 runs this season so far. So it's not me being hard on them in the park, its me just skiing. I am 6'2" and 210 lbs.

I really don't see your point.

What's the situation with TREW? I'd be interested in hearing a detailed review on their outerwear.... don't really like their jackets, but if their pants are as durable as they claim, I'd be willing to give them a try.

guys patience, this is not going to happen over night, and its going to happen somewhere else aside from this thread. also considering the only stuff that has arrived at my casa is the saga gear. (which is still holding up tough to normal skiing) you all think this is a walk in the park for free ski gear, but when you add the factors that maybe i had a job or two and it was christmas before i introduced this idea, maybe cut me a bit of slack here. thanks though im glad you are all keeping updated. expect a blogish thing in the next couple of weeks at least on the saga gear.

thanks!

saga commited, trew commited, LDC commited as well. FD is out.i have only got saga stuff already put about 20 days on the saga stuff. a few ski companies will potentially join later on.

There reason for not joining was that they have no more, and now they do

also they coulkd have gave him a pink suit which they had, or maybe one of the brown suits they had.

They should have just said they were not interested which was the real reson insted of their lame reason that they were all sold out

now kids no name calling. if FD couldnt do it for whatever reason thats up to lesh and his company. there is nothing saying these guys had to do anything. just props to people whom think its a good idea, now hopefully i can do a decent job with this or ill probably get banned from the internet or something.

Yo just as a note can you go into note later on about how the suits compare for backcountry use (i.e. having a pack with avalung, beacon, etc.) Also can you just stop at 3 companies and go in depth with those 3. I know you ski a shitload and I know you will have a longer season than many of us else where but you cant reasonably expect to test 5-6 suits in depth in a matter of a few months. And honestly id prefer if you didnt let other people test the suits, it adds in too many variables about how the suit will be used.
And also regardless if Trew outperforms, goto their website, 1 of their jackets cost as much as a complete Saga suit, I would expect it to be better.

I really want to say that you're one lucky dude, but thats doing a disevice to you. Smart move man, have fun with all your pretty suits.

i have a FD suit, and compared to my friends saga and lethal, its twice as warm and holding up just as well. FD is not a joke they are a great company with insane customer service. Maybe you should have thought about why other companies could afford to give a suit away but FD could not. The other companies have been around for a while and are making a steady stream of money. FD on the other hand has just started up, and i don't know if you have read but Lesh started that company with ONLY his own money. They are more worried about making it as a company right now than trying to prove themselves, that will come once they have financial security. I can assure everyone that FD is not a joke and have by far the sickest, warmest shit i have ever warn/seen. Don't talk about shit that you know nothing about.

comments like these is exactly why i wanted to start this gear review up. people get their stuff and literally have no idea about anything, just that it kept them warm or dry so its gotta be the sickest shit ever. it happens with all of these guys. thanks!

really now? I have a FD suit and compared to my SAGA it is not up to par. Its not twice as warm at all and the waterproofing is nowhere near as good as my SAGA

please everyone try to forgive me for the double post. Im still living in the 90s and have dialup so it was taking forever to send.

same deal here, interested in these for sure, i plan on getting either saga or LD next year so this thread may decide my outerwear fate

Trew sponsered our highschool team and i thought that was super legit just another way to get the word out. I also couldnt help purchasing a full saga suit the second pre-orders were up. So i have a full trew suit in adition to a full saga suit. And i really dont think you can compare them on the same level, trew is designed to charge through anything. I seriously dont think i could rip my pants if i tried. But it also cost near 800 for the suit. While saga is the sickest looking outerwear ever, by far, also it is pretty much half the price. Saga does have great waterproofing, fit, and style. But its way thinner, which is great because you can wear a jacket down to your knees and its weightless. But the suit is only going to stay prime for a few years though. So its totally up to how much money you want to spend, how much you ski, and weather you want to look like a total G. I dont think they similar at all. If you want to get something that last forever(thats still looks good) for a price or if you want to look like a total thug and maybe get a new suit in a few years. But hopefully smuggs finds a better way to compare them, because you really have to factor in the price.

i wish this was done before i got a new suit this year, choosing between such sick suits was hard as hell with different opinions. sick idea man. cant wait to see the results

My threads. Such a sick idea man, kind of interested in these companies, just wondering if any will hold up to the backcountry.
