I don't give a shit what the old heads who take up 85% of this website think, saga is not core anymore. Throw that shit out along with the old skate brim helmets and tight ass pants.

Ok fine take i guess, i get ur point. Saga WAS core at one time. Saga WAS the entire game for a while. However it is unfortunately dead. The last 3-4 years of Saga was not it. It was so bland and flavorless and quality went down by a lot. it really just put a bad taste in all our mouths

For decades, jiberish has jumped on the hype train of whatever skier was relevant that year, and sold their products thru hijacking.... Especially kids that didn't know how to say "pay me"....

Saga having gone out of business and having such a significant impact on freeskiing means it’s just about the definition of core at this point and will seem only more so as time goes on. Give it ten or twenty years and old pieces might be looked at as fondly as 90s patagonia is now, except that it’s even more niche because it really only ever was a freeskiing brand.

Saying the brand isn’t core because a handful of normies got their hands on it doesn’t make sense. I see dopey ass tourists riding armadas all the time and never think, hm Armada magically isn’t a pillar in freeskiing history anymore because this dork bought a pair the other day. And just because the styles that Saga went out on aren’t competitive with the trends nowadays doesn’t mean the brand isn’t core, nor does it mean that those trends won’t make a comeback at some point in the future. Cringe all you want but skittlecore will be back eventually, first ironically, then seriously.

I mean those are all sick skiers but I think for Dope its more about the amount of followers they have rather than the skiing. Dope isn't core because they don't give back to freeskiing besides (hopefully) paying athletes for exposure. They don't even have a team section on their website.

Jiberish made a movie or two, sponsored a ton of edits and helped support film projects. Same with Saga where the brand clearly gave back to the culture and tried to further it.
