RIP Ryan Hawks

You know, I've never read an eulogy where the deceased wasn't touted as the happiest and kindest person in the world and how everyone loved them.

Still, it's a dangerous sport and it's sad to see someone go.

A little bit of a harsh description of his passing, wouldn't you say? Not to mention there's already a thread on him dude.

Anyways, what a tragedy. My roommates and friends out here in Tahoe knew him from back east and were reminiscing about how great of a person and skier he was. Horrible to see these things happen.

i am deeply saddened to hear this. i watched his backflip via the Tour's live webcast. It was really a huge huck ... maybe 60 feet or so. he seemed to touch down with his feet first but then crash. it looked like soft snow but you can't tell from a webcast. after his crash it looked as if he immediately tapped his head - a signal that he was ok - but then rolled over on his stomach and lay with his head in his hands facedown. the competition then stopped for quite a while as the ski patrol attended to him and took him off the mountain. when the comp resumed, the commentators mentioned that he was being air-lifted from the resort.

this is very sad. i wish his family, friends, and the freeride community the best.

We just had a freind over last night that told me about this. Ryan was a friend of her's in college, a really good person she said. Rest in peace.

S. SHREDI. INP. PEACE
