Republican takes Ted Kennedys Senate Seat

Yes! Finally. Those damn democrats have been ruining everything for too long. Maybe this is a step in the right direction. If only mccain and palin were in the whitehouse right now we'd be set.

ask someone else, because you have no argument with me.

i think the government should GTFO of marriage. they should off the same legal protection that a current heterosexual marriage is afforded, too two consenting adults. (regardless of sex)

/my pollyannaish view of the world.

this will probably come as a surprise to NS but my aunt has actually been living with the same women for 20 years. i have essentially two aunts. and while i could never imagine them getting "married" (whatever that means) i could see them entering into the legal equivalent of marriage today, should it be something like i outlined above ever happen.

it gives up the democrats "super majority" a filibuster proof majority. in reality it means nothing. republicans never had a "super majority" during the bush years, yet still managed to pass whatever the hell they wanted.

democrats are incapable of doing anything well. except maybe shooting themselves in the foot.

i should say IMPLEMENTING it. i often agree with their ideas, but putting them into action is 95% of the time an epic fail. i mean seriously, coakley? that was the best candidate the dems could find? my dog was more qualified than her.

honestly, scott brown didnt win this, martha choakley lost it. how the fuck do you spell massachusetts wrong? how do you say you dont want to go outside and shake hands? im glad about the overall outcome, but people again voted for scott brown because its the "cool thing to do" not because of his political agenda. for fucks sake, if i asked any of my friends they would have no idea what his position is on shit, theyd just say coakley sucks! i hate ignorant people.

or even if they didnt vote for him because it was cool. it was simply because he was slightly less shitty than coakley. itd be nice to actually have an election with candidates you WANTED to vote for. not just didnt want to vote for less.

I disagree. I think you could have had a fantastic dem candidate and Brown still would have won.

This election wasn't really about Massachusetts politics or who was a better candidate (though from the debates alone, it was quite obvious the better candidate was Brown). This election was about people unhappy with the senate and current administration. Massachusetts would most likely have elected a republican regardless of who was winning because the majority of people, even in this insanely liberal state, do not like what they are seeing in Washington.

everyone is always unhappy with the current administration, because the system is messed. we are looking for change overnight, and the founding fathers set up the system to make slow changes to resist a sudden political revolution. the administration is incapable of sudden change, plus the dichotomy in politics hurts the ability to come to a sensible agreement. and dont even start me on big buissness and lobbyists.

Well looks like our country won't go bankrupt now. Thanks to Mass for saving our Bank Accounts, by gridlocking the power of that crazy man in Washington.

Thank baby Jesus the American people are waking up and putting a stop to that nego in the White House. Now maybe he can put a stop to all those goo backs who are coming in here and taking my jerb. I don't want one more cent spent on trying to improve America, unless it is spent on bombs and guns, support the troops!

Obama is a Socialist.

well lots of poor and unfortunate people are very hardworking, and often are fucked from the time they are born, this is undeniable... essentially republicans are there to make sure that those who have money and "property" will continue to have these things, while attempting to put up, or hold together barriers that will keep the majority of hardworking poor people from moving up a class.

well from my perspective what i said is a major component, not saying if its a bad thing or not, and what you said is just a typical bullshit rhetorical phrase trying to make what i said seem useless.... its unfortunate that unintelligent remarks like this can have such a huge impact on decision making.

Actually, one of the hallmarks of the Republican stance IS the maintenance of class structure. Jus' sayin' ya'll.

Scott Brown son! First time I have ever felt enthusiastic about voting in my home state. His campaign was ELECTRIC!!! The dems in DC are cowering now that they know the people don't like it. And all this bullshit about the voters not knowing what they voted for: BULLSHIT! They don't like what's happening in DC. How else do you explain a Republican winning in a state that hasn't had a republican senator for 30 years?

and, given the overuse of this vid on ns, some of you may still find it funny.

embed, the button isn't working for me.

Quoting so the video will show up. Glad you feel electric that health care will now stagnate in the senate and nothing will get done.

but recall the last election where some dem won in an area thats been republican for decades. it has nothing to do with republican or democrat, if you are an incumbent, you should be TERRIFIED, people are sick of the bullshit. they still dont know who they are voting FOR, they just know who they are voting against.

Maybe we can get enough new people in that they can actually pass some term limit legislation. That would do wonders to get these festering douche bags out and control lobbyist control.

HA. they are still power hungry blowhards, thats the thing. its not really NEW people. new body, same old thing

Just for a little bit of a scale but the last amendment to the Constitution that was past in like 1997 I think was to make it so that if the salary for COngress members (both the House and Senate) are to be raised when you are in the middle of your term the increase doesn't affect yours until you are re-elected was proposed the same summer that the Constitution was ratified.
