Reflektor - Arcade Fire hype

Yessss, so excited! Which one is your favourite song(s), from any Arcade Fire album I mean?

my favorite is the suburbs hand down, and if you haven't watch, "scenes from the suburbs"

Amazing short film that goes hand in hand with the song, understanding the song is actually way easier after watching the short film.

The suburbs was great. They really know how to put together an album, not just a collection of unrelated songs.

When I saw them live a few years ago and they played the Suburbs I actually started crying. Haha Ive never done that before, and I have never understood people who start bawling their eyes out at shows, but it was so powerful I just couldnt help myself. The lyrics are among the most beautiful ones I know, and the short film is a little piece of beauty too. Have to say my fav song is "Laika" or maybe "Rococo", but yeah "The Suburbs" gets me every fucking time.

From Funeral either Rebellion or Wake Up

From Neon Bible it's Black Mirror

From Suburbs it's Suburban War.

But I love it all haha.

Pretty much exactly what I imagined when I heard James Murphy was going to produce the album. Very LCD Soundsystem-esque which is only a good thing

So ficking pumped for this, single didnt blow me away, but I know the album will. The awesomeness level of all you guys in this thread has just multiplied by a billion.

And another album for which I am not that psyched for the song, yet I am very excited for the album itself.

Well this has certainly changed, listened to reflektor over 300 times already... Fuck. But damn that's a good song.

Ahhh that song is great too. Loving the video also, is it some black Orpheus movie? All the youtube comments were just weird spam

i was in brooklyn the night of their show, but tickets were running like 250 each, that would have been amazing.

I am thinking that this album will kind of be a bust for me. I liked normal person but all the others were just kind of meh for me. It wont top modern vampires on my album of the year list that for sure. But thats just my 2 cents.

I normally don't like arcade fire but that song and the interactive video were pretty sick. props to them

Mandatory, "YOUZ NEVA HERD OF DESE GUISE?" Seriously though, how have you never heard of them before? I mean, they've always been one of those bands that doesn't seem to get much for airplay, but you've heard about or of them. Maybe it's just a Canadian thing.

Personally, I feel like their new stuff has some of the same sound of Sam Robert's album Collider. I'm digging it.

Majorly appreciate that, downloading as we speak.

& is the "video" behind this teaser just the entire showing of Black Orpheus? haha

I prefer the A side for sure. Definitely some duds on the album for me notably Porno and Supersymmetry. Favorites: Here Comes the Night Time, Normal Person, Reflektor, Afterlife, actually basically most of it haha.

Overall: Funeral>Suburbs>Reflektor>Neon Bible

Yeah that's kind of how I feel too except neon bible tied with reflektor. There were a few songs I really liked on neon bible like intervention and windowsill and antichrist television blues.

Kind of disappointed with this album. it just drags on for so long and there's at least 3 or 4 songs I would have left off. Porno and Reflecktor are both great but I'm having a hard time getting into the rest of the album. I'm guessing it will start to grow on me eventually but I pretty sure this album will go down as arcade fire's worst. They need to cut back on their arrangements a bit, a 10-piece band is not needed and that many different sounds just makes everything sound cluttered.

I'm actually starting to agree with you. I've given it probably 10 listens since it leaked and it's definitely not as bad as I initially thought. The rhythm section throughout the entire album is awesome. However, it doesn't even come close to funeral. Solid album, I take back my first comment.

Yah funeral is such an anomaly though. That is the best debut album of any band in sooo long.

Reflektor is good, really different but really fucking good. Just like they did with neon bible and suburbs, they switched it up and fucking killed it.
