Really Fucked up thing happened to my friend at world tour finals in norway

Soo my Friend Cory Zila was in Norway for the last stop on the world qualifying tour.he called me this morning and told me this story...

. he was sitting in 4th spot and had to get top 29 out of the 100 field to qualify for next years world tour (not ifsa the real new world tour)

soo they made them hike this massive face and cory ran 97th out of 100 people... and had to site there for 4 hours.. soo he does his run then drops abot a 50 foot plus air lands and his ski comes off he eats shit and almost slides into a crevasse .. and died.... well 2 or 3 hours latter he looks at his bindings... some one has changges the din setting from 17 all the way to the lowest setting.... soo he crashes.. gets 30th place. just missing out on qualifying for next years world tour ( he got 5th on world qualifying tour only top 4 made it) soo some one sabitaged his ski.. so he wouldnt qualify.. hence risking his life... I never thought in a millon years shit like this happened .. what would have happend had he had fell in the crevasse and dies casue some asshole fucked with his skis?? if we cver catch who did this.. dam hes gonna get beat down.. what do you guys think ? has any one else seen ,heard or had sabitage happen to there skis while competing or is this a 1 off thing? I could imagine it happening in Alpine .. but big mountain.. your putting your life on the line skiing gnarl shit who the fuck has the nerve to mess with peoples equipment?

and who ever did it almost got him killed and he broke is collarbone.. Id love to find the dude.. but who knows who did it?? have you ever heard of anyone doing shit like that?

he waited at the top of the venue for 4 hours and fell asleep so I assume some one did it when he was passed out waiting for his run
 
Dude must be an intense skier if he rides at a 17 DIN, jesus. Sooo fucked up to ruin his run and endanger his life for a competition when the guy is clearly a better skier.

Did he say anything to the judges?
 
^ It would bring the issue to light, but it's not like the judges would be able to change placings or anything.

yeh corys from mammoth, thats who i usually ski , travel and film with,. but this season we did different shit.. he kills it and this is really fucked up.. the judges siad if you cant prove it they cant do shit which i think is bogus.. If that happened in motor cross. or f1 racing people would get banned..

ok lowest din if you have 17 is probably 10. if your ski comes off on 10 you messed up, my skis have come like once and i ride a 9. and i wrecked so hard.....

and i feel like is there are 100 people ontop of a mountain someones going to notice someone rolling around with a screw driver around other peoples skis. doesnt seem like a true story. its gonna take at least 7 minutes to lower the spring down from 17 anyways.
 
For big mountain i feel like 10 isn't that high at all. I ride park and I have my din at 8.5 and I'm only 120 lbs and my skis come off occasionally. Not often, but on a hard fall they will.
 
ive seen people huck 60 foot airs in touring boots and fritschi bindings, stomp. your skis comes off on a straight air you didnt land right.

nobody on the big mountain circut would do that. nobody.
 
I dont suppose you've ever seen a binding before have you?

My job is in ski rental, i set the dins on peoples skis. He could have changed the din from 17 to 8, or whatever the hell it went down to, in about 60 seconds.

Did it occur to you the fact he rides a ski with a din setting of 17 and is trying to gain entry to the world freeski tour, and is also being called, by some people "the next seth", may mean him and you ski quite differently. If you stomp a 50ft cliff at speed, and your din setting does not match your ability/weight/boot size, then yes it will come off.

You have no idea what your talking about mate.:)

 
and yeah, who ever did that is a complete dick, if it wasn't bad enough they were sabataging his position in the competition, they were also endangering his life. the epitemy of "not cool"

my sister had this happen to her, except she was racing, and she was a J4 (12 years old). Pretty fucked up... we found out later that she wasn't the only one who had it done to her, 3 of the other top girls did as well, all of them fell and didn't finish the race. Some people out there have no shame...
 
this random kid tried to do that to my binders at a mogul comp two years ago... I caught him in the act tho and gave him a nice cracked goggle lense
 
racing i can see this happening.... so gay. just use steroids if you are going to cheat.

but in a venue where all of the athletes know there are SERIOUS consiquences if you fall, which all of the athletes have probably seen....alot of these guys have probably seen someone die..... i cant see someone doing this to someone else. all people talk about about the comps in the US is the family like vibe and support at every event.
 
this is correct, but changing a din of 17 to 10, means it needs to be on a binding with a range of atleast 7. this is pretty much every binding. what the hell do you think would happen if rental techies took 7 minutes to change the dins on skis. itd take 2 days to kit up your average morning rush of punters.

not hating man just pointing out the flaws in your logic, which seem to be many at the moment.
 
wow sorry to hear that man thats really a shitty situation. hope your boy heals up fast and good luck to him next year. time to add checking your din to your routine before you drop
 
Dude how scrawny are you? most of the bindings i set are at like 8, but i have set bindings at 14-15 etc. to. there not that much stiffer, and they are only really noticably any more effort when tightening, as you are puitting pressure on etc., there is hardly any difference when loosing the tension on the springs

this is getting pretty off topic anyway

point is, who ever did it. needs shooting.
 
yeah because high speed racing crashes are a fun and happy experience for everyone and almost never end up in injury............................riiiiight.

I'm sure someone could have changed "the next Seth's" din while he was preoccupied when you were blowing him.
 
thats so messed up. i cant believe this would happen in skiing, baseball and football sure, but skiing?
 
everyone has overlooked the fact that this could be a mistake on either cory, or the bindings part.

the binding could have broken, i dont pretend to know how, but is it possible that the force of a 50ft stack when the bindings are cranked way up could have broken the binding, and the little line slipped from 17 to the bottom therefore making cory think they had been altered? - i dont think thats a ridiculous suggestion.

i'm not hating or anything, i just find it impossible to think that someon would do that. the risks are already ludicrously high, all the pros understand that. also, those guys seem to have some of teh most amazing camaraderie.
 
shit dude, that fucking suuuuucks. maybe his bindings just got messed up but thats just a toolish way to cheat.
 
Yeah that is definitely possible, but one would assume that aussiepimp posted this quite awhile after the incident. By then cory would have had time to check his bindings, if there was nothing wrong with them then the possibility of them being tampered would be worth considering. That being said, if the top 23 qualified, it seems like if it was a fellow skiier, sabotaging one guy wouldnt be enough to move him up to qualify, or it wouldnt really matter because he could get into the top 23 anyways. I guess unless they like got there score was 24th so they went up to the top and changed his din right before his drop lol...~
 
Yeah thats definately a possibility but there are douche bags that would do this in every sport. The guy knows he can't win on talent so he sabotages someone else that can actually go somewhere in the sport.
 
thats exactly what i was gonna say, all the racing leagues usually have a couple super competitive parents who spend hours waxing/tuning the kids skis, and i wouldn't put it past them to do something like that.....well i'd still be surprised as fuck but i'd expect it to happen more in racing then in freestyle.
 
The reason I wrote this thread was to find out weather or not people had had this happen to them before or heard about such things happening? You have no idea how much effort goes into qualifying for the new world tour, theres over 100 people trying to get on it and they take 4 people of the world Qualifying tour.. the amount of money and effort that cory put in and missing out by 1 spot, dislocating his shoulder, and almost dying,. is fucked.. now he must do the whole world Qualifying tour again, costing him and his sponsors ( which in reailty dont pay for much as its extremley hard to make money in big mountain untill you are a big household name) is alot of money and effort when in reailty he should be blowing up... and making a bigger name for him self.. skiing for some is a carear and shit like this has a big effect on that... this isnt about name dropping .. go snowblade your self of a cliff

if you dobt corys ability then read the febuary freeskier issue , where they asked Cody Townsend who he thought were the top 3 next big things.. in big mountain .. corys listed as one of them..

and for the REcord.. this SHI T DID HAPPEN. The kids not an idiot, he skied Junior olympic down hills, and was the Skier X salomon Crossmax junior champ like 3 x he knows how to tune his skis and set his bindings... sugesting that some one would fuck up like that is ludicrous.. and who ever did this will get there karma.. as some one said before if people do it in Alpine racing, and at small reginal mogul comps off course when there is a world tour spot on the lien maybe someone is dirty enough to do that.. as for the family vibe at comps. this is true but this was in Europe.. same shit but there are dirty people in every sport. weather its a family enviroment or not., we know and ski with alot of these people and in a million years you wouldnt expect any one to do it.. but it happened.. soo such is life i guess... but the affect this has on certains peoples life as a skier is enourmous..
