Realistic Zombie Survival Game

i've only played arma 2 so far (it took long to download) but goddamn this thing looks realistic, it also has so many actions i need to rethink how i'll bind my keys :P

my regular fps lay-out ain't cutting it in this game :)

hope to install OA and the Dayz mod tonight or tomorrow ....

this this this. BF mods are free and tons of fun. Check out forgotten hope for BF'42 and maybe Vietnam? THere's another really good Vietnam mod as well that kicks ass

Last year it started at the end of June and lasted about a month. The prices are incredible. And the longer you wait to get this mod, the more polished it becomes. It's only been out for a few months and so it has issues with bugs, but there's a big patch coming next weekish.

Defintly a fun mod. I was playing it a lot last week, stopped for finals.

Just a warning, if you go to any major cities you WILL be killed by a sniper and WILL have your precious baked beans stolen.

thats it, im getting this ASAP just because of how awesome this would be. or horrible. funny no matter what.

lol, i need to put a fan on my pc to keep it cool :/

might need to clean up some background programs to keep this running smoothly ....

any tips on how to start out in the dayz mod?

i keep dying within the first 15minutes and my screen is always blurry except when i aim my gun ... arma 2 graphics run smoothly, so does this has to do something with hunger/thirst ?

also, how do i get my body temp down ?

and goddamn this game gives me the heebiejeebies! the sound of the zombies is terrifying :P

i think i sounded like this guy when playing for the first time ....

Off/topic, but I just changed to Chrome, and for some reason all symbols on my keyboard with or without Shift have changed places...

+ became -, * became \, ^ became % etc... Please help.

A few things:

-don't trust anyone

-always have two of everything (food, water, bandages, etc.)

-avoid major cities for the early part of the game. They offer great loot but are filled with heavily armed players who will kill you.

-when you pull zombies, find a nearby hill before shooting them. Zombies are slowed down a lot by hills.

-if you're in a city when you pull zombies, find a building. Zombies slow down entering buildings.

-If you pick up a rifle, don't use it unless you absolutely have to. The sound draws zombies from all over.

-probably self-explanatory, but always crouch when you see zombies.

-generally just stick to scavenging smaller towns and buildings early on. They're safer and offer good loot to start things off.

-If you get a compass, always go north.

yeah, i figured those out too, just had a pretty decent character with crossbow/hunting rife and a 45 revolver but in the end i died because i ran out of ammo ...

so i'd suggest to stock up on ammo instead of food and water since those are (relatively) easy to get but ammo is difficult (especially the right kind)

also, zombies have a hard time entering buildings through small doors, so if you're being followed, you could sprint into a building and headshot the zombies when they try to come through the door ...

you can save a lot of ammo this way ...

@mikko i paid for the game, still had some on my paypal and didn't feel like wasting hours on trying to get a torrent/keygen to work :)

Fucking PayPal! As you know well... I tried again for the Humble Indie Bundle but still no luck. Fucking PayPal.

Have a link to buy it? I have some extra cash in my paypal.

How smooth do you think it would run if I was using it on my virtual machine?

it's 30 on steam, just finishing downloading it myself, actually. and dtf, get steam, but i have no idea about the vm thing, sorry.

Have fun. I've got to play once. Every time I try to connect to a server I get the common "creating character" problem. Still trying to figure it out.

Just found a shit ton of food and an AK with a red dot sight in a radio control tower, I need a map badly though.

>mfw it's night time on my server

you have to buy it, multiplayer won't work without buying it and thereby the mod won't. you can't really beat the system with steam, unfortunately. and to whoever asked, its like itunes for games, just google it and download. also they have amazing specials on games sometimes.

ugh, i've spent the past couple hours trying to get this shit working. all the servers i try to get on boot me, give me errors, connection fail, or give me a long string of files that something is wrong with. i bought it on steam, installed dayz with the dayz install tool, and i get a lot of error messages for missing files.

you need to get arma2 combined operations pack (includes Operation Arrow) in order for the dayz mod to work.....

there are download links on their website or you can acquire it through Steam...

and for the people playing at night time, until you have NVGs, better play at day imho.... find a server with a different timezone to play :)

Yeah, compare a high budget and heavily scripted "Press X to kill" game to a survival mod of an army game. GG.

works fine on mine if i turn down the graphics a little ...i think with a clean harddrive and all background crap closed and a cooling fan that's still 100% operational i could run it in high quality as well....

i have an intelcore i5 m430 2.27ghz processor

4gig ram

and a nVidia GT 230M graphics card

and run it on 64bit windows 7

i have a 5.5 on that windows index thingy

330m gt nvida card

4gb ram

32 bit

and I'm on boot camp because this probably doesn't work on a mac

would that work well for this game or need super graphics and all ...??

and just need to buy ARMA II CO right?

alright thanks! I'll still try it cause it looks really sick. I'll prolly just turn the graphics down like I am a mod and I'll close every shit on my laptop as well haha +k

Running on a 2.30GHz VISION Technology from AMD with AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor

3 gigs ram

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics card

also on windows 64bit windows 7 and I'm still struggling.

I'm even overclocking it as much as I can but my problem is connecting to a sever.

Would try again tonight but don't feel like playing at night. Shits scary.

dub post but do you get the creating character error cause thats what ive been getting all the time. Apparently its a common problem. Still struggling with it. I was able to play 1.6 but I havent been able to play 1.7 yet.

ahhhh, i was just having a little lunchbreak and while playing i stumbled upon an abandoned airstrip, as i go up i find a dead bandit with an assault pack containing an AK, an m1911, plenty of ammo, food and water, just as i'm switching backpacks my game freezes and i get an error and the game shuts down :o

fml !

haha suckksss in which server are you playing? I'm gonna create one in the same as yours if the timezone fit with my time( im prolly gonna play at night so I need to play on another server as eastcoast)
