Re-torn ACL?

I've torn my left and right acl's previously within the past few years(both reconstructed from my hamstring), and I think I might have re torn my right one, either slightly or fully. The thing is, it doesn't feel as severe as my previous tears, and I didnt feel or hear a pop when I fell. I skied for a good 3-4 hours after my initial fall that hurt my knee today because it felt fine about 5 minutes later after stretching and taking the lift up, but the pains started coming back a couple hours later after a hard impact from landing on hard-packed snow, so i went back home shortly after.

The thing is, my knee isn't nearly as swollen as my knees got after my 2 previous tears, and I don't really feel any pain. The only time it feels a bit sketchy or painful is when walking downstairs. But then again I'm taking into consideration that the graft wouldn't really have any blood inside of it to swell my knee up with since its not exactly a natural ligament, and also since its not exactly a natural body part, that might explain the reason why I'm not feeling as much pain as i have from my previous tears.

I'm definitely going to take a break from skiing until I see my doctor first. But has anyone here ever re-torn a previously reconstructed acl before? Am I just worrying too much?

That sucks dude, vibes for you, I know a kid who tore it a second time and got it diagnosed and just kinda rebuilt the muscles himself

well, you've managed 2 out of 2 already so you seem to have a knack for tearing them. what did you do that you think tore it?

Re-tore my ACL (hamstring graft) 16 months after first operation. Knee strength wasn't where it should have been, my fault. It wasn't as bad as the first time. I did hear a pop though, Less pain, less swelling.
R.I.C.E. and as you already know, the doctor will tell you whats up.
I feel for you man.

it is a real ligament. it will swell if you damage it.. trust me.. i'm 4 knee surgeries deep and 3 ACLS (1 left, 2 right).. Sounds like it may be a meniscus issue? Does it feel unstable? All the times I've done it, I knew exactly what was going on, and it would give out on me when I was walking. Often when you tear it, it hurts more if it's partially torn. Hopefully you didn't tear anything! I feel for ya...

That sounds more like MCL, or dislocated knee cap, which I just did and your symptoms sound exactly the same.

Ive been in and out of orthepedic offices for a month now... just had a torn ACL and meniscus verified by an MRI....

From what Ive read, damage to the meniscus is very common in knees with impaired ACL function (Injured, previously blown out, still healing)

As you may know the meniscus is the lining casing your knee joint absorbing impact and acting as a source for lubrication... I had meniscal damaged after my knee felt healthy, but actually had no ACL whatso ever and thus continued to fuck up my meniscus resulting in a continuous pop, and lesser range of motion... the injury was no where near as severe, but shouldnt be ignored...

My surgeon said a meniscus can only be repaired in persons younger than ~25 within about 2-3 weeks, so dont delay!

My advice... take the season off and get your knee 100%.. 2 previous tears sets u up for another one if youre not 100% rehabed and that could fuck shit up for LIFE..

good luck man

thanks, ive been hearing this from a lot of people, and i actually just saw my doctor yesterday and he said the same thing too. he told me its probably just some cartilage torn and definitely not a torn ligament which made me so happy to hear. im just getting an mri anyway to make sure
