Rant About Whatever

hands down worst thanksgiving of my

life. my mom has end stage cirrhosis so i have been visiting everyday off and more since we got the news. watching her die has been exhausting. yesterday when i got home my mom was waaay off. turns out in addition to liver failure, she has cancer again. 2 brain tumors and one is bleeding so she had a stroke yesterday. no one had any idea about these tumors until yesterday. so now she is on a DNR order and we are bringing her home for comfort care for her remaining days. slept on a hospital bench next to my sister last night. kinda nice that my sister and i both made it down to see her. when the ambulance was pulling up the driveway with the lights on my sister said ‘reminds you of all those times they came to get her growing up huh?’ well goddam sis waita fuck me up.

im really sorry about that, very sad. this is my first thanksgiving without my grandfather, he had cancer and hadn't been the same the past two years leading up to his death. thoughts and prayers to you ?

It’s insane that a 6 month gym membership is most likely to cost more than an entire season pass for most hills

I am confident they would make far more money if they weren't charging so much. 160 bucks for a 10 visit punch card and that's at 25% off

Used to get 4 months for that price in Reno lol

climbing gym near me is 35/month for studemt, 45/month regular. It's great. It's in an old barn and everything is dusty as hell. Every other gym I've gone to seems lame as hell in comparison.

No kidding. I climbed at Momentum in Sodo about a month back and couldn't believe I paid $30 for a day pass to a boulder only gym.

does it ever happen to you where you go to your parents for thanksgiving but then your mom has a stroke and goes on hospice and dies so you are at their house for way longer than you thought and dont have enough clothes so you go to the only ski shop you know because skiing is your entire identity so you want a ski shirt but they dont have any shirts so you just buy gold pivot 15s instead and then drive across town but since your so tired and emotionally drained that seeing the baca motorcycle club makes you cry for no god damn reason at all as you unknowingly run a red light but make it to sheels anyway and then you find a shirt that is pretty long so great for your awkwardly lanky torso but it has really short sleeves so you try it on and really its a womens mini dress so you just get a colorado avalanche shirt instead and then drive home just to shower and put on the same shirt as you were wearing before? or is it just me??

obviously not enough lol. 5 pairs that i use. got an additional emergency set and boots at my parents in hopes that they get dumped on to hit some urban but all my hometown friends are lame anyway.

My wife bought a brand new car back in July. Took it to the dealer for its first free oil change yesterday. Made it all of 30 miles til the low oil pressure light came on. Dip stick was dry. Can’t wait to show up at the dealer tomorrow and tell them the kid that they pay 30k a year to change oil just ruined a brand new motor.

My thoughts exactly. I don’t think the motor is seized but it had to have done permanent damage. There was zero oil in it when I got out to where she was. It’s got 6k miles on it. The point of her buying it brand new was for it to be reliable, after whatever damage was done this time who knows how reliable it will be.

100% should replace your engine. Metal on metal with no lube tends to cause galling.

lol clearly you’ve never worked in operations at a ski resort. everyday your not open you are losing money at this point. unsure what mountain you speak of but i can guarantee that they are trying to open as fast as they can and they are doing the updates to keep people engaged. its often a situation where they are just sneaking by with enough to open without it being completely skied out within the day so it is quite literally a day by day call and greatly impacted by what the weather allowed and what the forecast predicts.

since you said corporate, i’m assuming its a mountain who has an expectation that once they open, they are 7 days a week until close so they need to be confident they have enough snow to withstand the dry spells. weather seems to be a challenge everywhere this year.
 
I dont really follow comp skiing, but I saw the reruns of the the three podium runs from Stubai and I thought AHall's run was wayy better than Evan or Macs.
 
been getting pretty bad pain in the outside sorta arch area on my left foot every time i hike. i can barely walk today lol ?
