also speaking of weddings what are peoples (Age 25-30ish) opinion of a jay peak bachelor party

it’s so weird seeing how frugally people are willing to be in their 20s-30s etc while they work themselves to death during their prime so they can max out their 401k/Roth IRA and beyond in hopes of having this magical retirement…. My parents (still alive) were high earning medical professionals yet despite all the tailwinds boomers had going for them in regards of economic opportunity, didn’t retire until 65-70. How the hell are people our age ever to retire anyways with all the economic adversity we face, especially if PFAS/plastics further reduce life expectancy (or all the other ways we could die prematurely)? I was on a plane this week behind a row of retirees and they could hardly function. Meanwhile, my grandma wants nothing more but to finally die. She could give 2 fucks less about her great grandchildren, she wants to be dead.
Oh yea, we’ll if you die early at least you can pass your wealth onto your children (that you didn’t spend enough time with because you were too focused on your career). Let me tell you of all the success stories of the kids I know who lost a parent(s) and inherited a windfall of money. Success stories I tell you…. So much success..
14551310:GrandThings said:Agree with all of this. I have a relatively well paying job and try to be thrifty as possible but the ability to buy a house seems like its been 1-2 years away for me for the past 8 years. I feel like I'm on a treadmill and retirement doesn't seem like a reality at all.
Lol and people wonder why the birth rate is declining. I've always thought I would have kids, but nowadays idk how I'd feel about bringing someone into this world that's going to have it even harder than we do. Ugh.
14551315:Lonely said:I have other savings but I'm definitely going to try and pull some of the retirement out early when buying the first house. One of the few ways you can be excempt from some of the penalties for doing so.
It's also cool to think about how I'm paying into social security that there is a 99.9% chance I will never see a dime of.

14551213:piss.boy said:on the verge of quitting the job i've been at for a lil over a year. Friend quit and told me that while doing so the boss was saying he wished i left and my friend stayed cause i was falling behind a little. went in today and apologized for getting to comfortable doing less then i should,(forgot to stock soda and take out recycling one day) and he told me verbatim that he wishes i left instead of my friend. funny part is when he left no one even asked me if i wanted his hours and just gave them all to me so im in five days a week and had to drop hours at my other job. didnt say thanks for picking up hours when we dont have anyone else to fill them, and kinda laughed in my face. never had to leave a job before so i dont really know how to go about this. normally i wouldnt say this is grounds for leaving and i should just be a better employee but the pay isnt great and i have other places to go

Trust me I know the feeling, I have good rhythm but I’m not that strong so I would often be stroke seat in a boat full of beginners, and it does suck. But getting mad about it makes everything worse and ruins the vibe, it’s about teamwork my dude

I've left jobs after only being there for a few months. When it isn't a good fit or the people suck it's not going to work. You'll just be torturing yourself.
