if i am calling someone for an interview and their vm is full i no longer consider them for the position. i would do the same if i saw someone with 83 unread messages lol

Just got an email from my professor saying that I'm gonna be observed tomorrow and that I need to submit an entire lesson plan by this afternoon. I've literally been here for a week. Now I gotta scramble to get this lesson whipped up for 8th grade and get my presentation dialed before tomorrow so that I don't bomb this lesson. And then I have a meeting after that, and then a zoom meeting after that, and then I have a big assignment due Friday and idek what to do for it. ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

my heel ripped completely open through the skin to the tendon today erging and hurt so fuckin bad. Literally had to just lay there with my feet strapped in and it killed my final split. Finished it feet out but fuck i wanted to rip my last 5 minutes at a 1:45ish

on the verge of quitting the job i've been at for a lil over a year. Friend quit and told me that while doing so the boss was saying he wished i left and my friend stayed cause i was falling behind a little. went in today and apologized for getting to comfortable doing less then i should,(forgot to stock soda and take out recycling one day) and he told me verbatim that he wishes i left instead of my friend. funny part is when he left no one even asked me if i wanted his hours and just gave them all to me so im in five days a week and had to drop hours at my other job. didnt say thanks for picking up hours when we dont have anyone else to fill them, and kinda laughed in my face. never had to leave a job before so i dont really know how to go about this. normally i wouldnt say this is grounds for leaving and i should just be a better employee but the pay isnt great and i have other places to go

Can't stand when people have weddings in the middle of nowhere, where ride share doesn't exist, and then don't set up shuttles. The closest lodging is at least 30min away wtf.

Don't know about the competitive rowing world, but in the raft world there's a phrase "those that have and those that will" when it comes to flipping. Your time will come.

church weddings are the worst. I'd rather have a middle of nowhere cash bar than no bar especially cuz I feel bad leaving weddings early.

half the wedding I've been to at a church had the reception at the church, was going to clarify that I meant reception but figured it didn't matter, guess I was wrong.

i’ve flipped a single 7 times lol. Once in a race i mean the fuck heads in my boat couldn’t get in time and it’s a waste of my time. To be in a boat with people who can’t row, and don’t take pieces or workouts seriously

I took my boat out of the water today crazy how many people are rolling the dice and riding out this storm it looks sketchy AF. Not sure if I'll put it back in they asked for a ridiculous amount of money for a haul and launch even though I paid this place for winter storage said insurance would give it back to me but I don't trust that.

The shuttle left without me at my wedding at the end of the night.

Jay peak would be sick, especially if you time it right with a storm. Obviously not getting any strippers in the middle of BFE but would still be a blast. Be sure to get shitty at the Snowshoe

Retirement, the whole concept seems so f’d to me.

it’s so weird seeing how frugally people are willing to be in their 20s-30s etc while they work themselves to death during their prime so they can max out their 401k/Roth IRA and beyond in hopes of having this magical retirement…. My parents (still alive) were high earning medical professionals yet despite all the tailwinds boomers had going for them in regards of economic opportunity, didn’t retire until 65-70. How the hell are people our age ever to retire anyways with all the economic adversity we face, especially if PFAS/plastics further reduce life expectancy (or all the other ways we could die prematurely)? I was on a plane this week behind a row of retirees and they could hardly function. Meanwhile, my grandma wants nothing more but to finally die. She could give 2 fucks less about her great grandchildren, she wants to be dead.

Oh yea, we’ll if you die early at least you can pass your wealth onto your children (that you didn’t spend enough time with because you were too focused on your career). Let me tell you of all the success stories of the kids I know who lost a parent(s) and inherited a windfall of money. Success stories I tell you…. So much success..

Agree with all of this. I have a relatively well paying job and try to be thrifty as possible but the ability to buy a house seems like its been 1-2 years away for me for the past 8 years. I feel like I'm on a treadmill and retirement doesn't seem like a reality at all.

Lol and people wonder why the birth rate is declining. I've always thought I would have kids, but nowadays idk how I'd feel about bringing someone into this world that's going to have it even harder than we do. Ugh.

I have other savings but I'm definitely going to try and pull some of the retirement out early when buying the first house. One of the few ways you can be excempt from some of the penalties for doing so.

It's also cool to think about how I'm paying into social security that there is a 99.9% chance I will never see a dime of.

I actually did exactly that when I bought my house nearly 10 years ago. Thank god I did obviously.

then I got laid off in the very early days of covid, and you can’t easily draw from retirement during financial hardships without paying a big penalty which negates any benefit you received in the first place, because how can you pay off the 401k loan without a job? Feels like the whole concept of a IRA is to trap you

whole thing’s a scam, my wife puts all her money into retirement and not a single dollar in an accessible brokerage account, so what happens in a rainy day?

This makes me mad on a very regular basis. My parents laugh when I tell them that there's no way I'll be receiving social security payments when I'm their age. They think I'm crazy

I used to row in 8s and being the guy who is pissed at everyone else for sucking is a super bad look, and really annoying for everyone else. Trust me I know the feeling, I have good rhythm but I’m not that strong so I would often be stroke seat in a boat full of beginners, and it does suck. But getting mad about it makes everything worse and ruins the vibe, it’s about teamwork my dude

what kind of sick perverted fuck downvotes the first message i sent? i hope you get unwillfully anally penetrated by your goofy ass fuck look bindings, and i hope your parents fucking STARVE TO DEATH and you're forced to watch while getting slapped in the thighs with cold cuts. DIE DIE DIE

I'd leave. Put in a week or two notice if you can hang on that much longer, and get out of that place. boss sounds like a Jerk. Get more hours at your second job if that one pays better, you like it better and works with your schedule.

I've left jobs after only being there for a few months. When it isn't a good fit or the people suck it's not going to work. You'll just be torturing yourself.

i’m not even mad just disappointed, and when i tell the boat to get in line with me and 7 seat or we will row like shit it’s considered harsh. It’s a fact. I literally have to ask to run pieces or small boats it’s so bad

Most people don't have retirement savings, so whoever you're describing as being thrifty to save the max, is not the majority. This survey below is from 2023 and is pitiful. Some people don't wish to retire early, but most can't afford to. 65 is the traditional retirement age. Set it and forget it is the easiest way.

Retirement savings are so you can be able to survive without working for the last 20-25 years of your life, but of course life isn't guaranteed. Some take it to the extreme to retire early. Retiring by 45 would be sick.

BTW forever chemicals have been around since the 1940's. Your life expectancy isn't all of a sudden drastically changing. Read about 3M and Dupont and their ethics surrounding that shit.

You do you but unless you're planning on paying it back fast, I'd be careful. If you leave your job, voluntarily or involuntarily, you must pay back that loan by tax season or pay a hefty fine and income taxes on the whole amount.

Social security is anyone's guess. Yes 2034 is when they'll start having to reduce payments if nothing changes, however the future is up to congress. To say it won't exist (with certainty) is too bold.

A manager like that doesn't deserve notice. Unless he's contracted, if he's got another job, then quit on the spot.

just told em im gone by next friday. wasnt gonna give any notice at first but i thought id cover my ass incase i apply somewhere else soon and they call for a reference. feels weird af. Very stoked to go back to working outdoors especially during fall weather

There are so many babies in this restaurant it’s not fair. I had to step out to cry, I’d be in my second trimester by now and it’s absolutely awful how no one warns you that seeing fresh little ones is almost worse than seeing women that are still pregnant.

Good! Yes, that was smart. Leave on good terms with ahead notice. Now hopefully the last week there isn't hell.

I like working outdoors. My current job is great but I don't get to see enough of the outside. The boss doesn't want us having the doors open due to security and birds flying in. They hate it when they get stuck inside and crap on the machines.
