Racers in the park?

No. Fuck you. You are wrong. You will get good at skiing wrong, but there is no way you will become an actually good skier from only park skiing, Hence your lack of powder skiing ability. Racing teaches you how to control and use the actual ski, not just slide down the mountain. Trust me, you might think you are skiing well, but if anyone who actually knows how to ski even see's you on the snow, they will automatically know that you suck. You can tell if a person knows how to ski pretty easily, even if they are just hitting a rail. Its all about how you are on your skis, and it is very apparent.

But that aside, just cause you dont know how to ski and dont want to learn doesnt mean you can't have fun, I have plenty of friends with no racing background at all and they can still ski, they just will never have the understanding that they would if they had been taught correctly.

I'd been hiking the pipe for a few hours with my dad last month (he's a remarkably good pipe skier for an old dude), when two race coaches showed up and led their teams making turns down the middle of the halfpipe. There were MOGULS in the pipe when they got to the bottom. One of the coaches turned to my dad and said "so, how'd you like our run? Maybe you should try some real skiing sometime." At that point, my dad told the coach that he was on the PSIA demo team for 12 years and started yelling at the guy for ruining the pipe and the guy left in shame, but I stupidly tried one last run through the moguled pipe. Hit a bump my first hit, crashed into the wall, and broke my thumb and pole. I never really hated racers in the park before that, but now they really annoy me.

holy shit this kid is exactly right, now granted i know of a few racers that are chill like 2, but the other 300 that ive met are total and compete assholes that ruin park features and start fights with me and my friends, and a good example of ruining features is...a few weeks at gore there were moguls in the park before the jump and on the landing because a group of like 20 racers kept going through and carving the shit out of it, now landing on moguls sucked and i fell almost every time and that sucked so racers that go into the park need to know that they need to change their attitude or they are gonna get beat up by me or anyone that i ride with

exactly. you think you fucks are any different? everyone else on the hill hates you just as much as the racers. baggier clothes but just as much rich-kid attitude.

so many pros used to race, i think thats what u need to say to get these gay pro hoe ns kids to pay attention. i raced for a while and was pretty good, i always loved park and was about to switch to snowboarding so i can do it. and i saw sessions 1242 and im like wow, this is great, and i am in deep love with the sport because i love how progression and stile is more bold then anything in racing. i am so glad that i raced tho because i am a good skier also. dont hate on racers, you cant say o one of the racers is a duesch, im sure you can pick out several fuckers on this website as well. i was in the program for 6 years. my last year i blazed chron with like all the kids in my district, ahaha i was stoked on that. so stop judging books by the cover. if they come in the park there just doing the other side of the sport and wana see whats up. racers are brothers to guys!

i think he was talking about the racers that just drop into the park before a run and wreck themselves trying rails with razor sharp edges, yeah they piss me off because they are huge pricks

try having the race court thing next to the park? like its littlerally next to it, no trees seperate it so they just come on.

haha ye same here, the racing parents are usually worse than the kids though. back when i raced some crazy ass mother tampered with my bindings.

This topic has been done before, MANY times. They're up on the hill to ski, just like you are. Get over it.

well said

also to the dude who said:

"being a racer is how you get good at actual skiing... then when you have the skills quit and buy twin tips"

im calling bullshit, budweiser does open races at my mountain alot, and i ski harder, faster, and more in control than half the racers my age. Granted i started skiing at 3, was taught by great skiers, asked to be on the race team, but never raced so i guess i have a similar background to most racers, except for the fact that i never gave up my sexual orientation for carving through gates and having a "i own the entire mountain" attitude...the only reason i hate racers is cause they think they are god's gift to skiing, when in reality they're their only fans, everyone else on the mountain hates them. thats my mountain atleast its pretty funny to hear the lift operators and everyone else on the mountain talk so much shit about the "queers wearing spandex"

i race and i completely get what you guys are saying. but we're not all gay hardcore. me and my friends are good at racing without being hardcore and we do park too but we dont make like fucking turns. some of my friends can do cork 1080 270 on double switchup 270 out. im sorry that alot of racers are gay but it really is just a stereo type theres alot of cool ones who are sick at freestyle too.

the racers are so annoying at my mountain and they just cut off and just wriggle around in the air when they get off a hump. its pretty funny

there are a few racers that are good at park at my mountain, but they look REALLY gay because they are wearing their like tight clothes and stupid yellow helmets

but they are good

racers are good at racing... thed b pissed if we went on the corse n carved real hard in front of them...

haha whenever the racers get courses closed and start slipping it we always go cut the rope on it because you go shooting by them, and then they try to talk shit to you because you ripped down a part of there course they probably wont even ski on.

if the can slide the rails and are not fucken anything up then its cool but if they are not doing sshit and going of the side of kickers tell them to get the fuck out!!!!!!!

I ONCE SAW A RACER HIT A JUMP IN A TUCK AND JUST ABSORBED THE TAKE OFF AND OVER SHOT THE SHIT OUT OF THE JUMP AND HAD TO GET TAKEN OFF IN THE SLED.

i just race if theres some kind of race where you can win stuff like skis. its really funny how every guy over 50 has a pair of brand new rossis that are like 180s and he thinks hes the greatest racer ever and then misses a gate

i saw a racer overshoot a jump by like 20ft and he did like 7daffy's it was the funniest shit i had ever seen i even took the time to skip the jump just to laugh at him, the racers at Gore mtn are assholes

Amen. Most of the top pros have racing or mogul comp roots. Either way there are shitheads hittin gates and in the park. One love, skiing is fun.

they are better than all the little kids that climb up the lip and ski down the other side

its not like u own the park everyone starts somewhere

racing is the best way to get good at skiing and alot of the pros will say racing helps freestyle skiing and alot of them used to be racers

i know racers that are awsome in the park. also i have never raced a day in my life and i feel i can ski as good or better than most racers on any part of the moutian

i am a freeskier. not a racer. i joined my ski race team jsut to go skiing, but it turned out i was the best in my city and went to ofsaa (all ontairos), it was so fun to rock twins on the race course wearing the baggy steeze. I even 180ed the finish line. I dont liek racers at all also they are so stuck up and think the are teh best that y when eve i see them on teh hill i jsut squeee my tials togeather and roost them. All teh racers in my local club are gettign twins now, tey must realize that they are not the future of skiing we are!

everyone started racing, i ddnt ski park til like 3 yrs ago n iv ben skiing for my whole life. i cant imagine someone skiing just park all there life, they wouldnt b able to saki a decent line if there life depende on it

although many racers are fags who just think they own, not all are like that. i agree with what's said before, in that it's all fun, but racing does in fact improve your overall skiing.

also, i challenge you guys to go into a good downhill or super-g race course (the faster ones with fewer turns) and tell me that it isn't fun. Especially if you have a bunch of friends too, and there's proper timing. It starts getting competitive, and eventually you're all enjoying yourselves.

I just hate it when racers are all cocky and dicks

ya they are alright when they are trying to get good and wait their turn but when they just go thru and cut infront of everyone they deserve to all eat shit on any fuetture they hit

haha one of my friends cut into a race couse, then he did like 3 gates normal, a 540 butter then did like 4 more switch. some little racer kis was like OMGZZZ he did NOT just do that. then i was like if racers are aloud in the park, why cant we be on the race course?? the kid just shut up and i skkied away
