Punk

hahaha, I love how anti-confrontational everyone in this thread is. Alright, that's cool. (so unusual for NS)

Yes i too, am quite surprised at the lack of "That isn't punk" or "that is emo, or screamo or dreamo, not punk" good to see.

i like very early punk like the ramones, sex pistols, and the clash. the newer stuff is kind of boring

Haha... I saw that too... maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are no 14 year old kids who wear XXXL and listen to purely "gangsta" rap posting in this thread... maybe...

I gotta say, as fucked up as GG Allin was. He did have some pretty sick songs. what was he? like a combination of punk, metal, and rock'n'roll?

he actually did a lot of stuff, rock'n'roll, punk, even some country

he lived in my town, went to my school, and is buried here

i also know some of his relatives

he still has a huge influence on the community

come on you know you lock yourself naked in the closet with your headphones on and listen to fall out boy, i mean who doesnt

If Iggy Pop and the Stooges are considered punk then they'd be number 1 on my list no doubt about it. I have always felt he was a little more rock n roll though. either way i dont care and i love his stuff.

Never heard of them? They are worth checking out. Listen to their cd Explode and you might like them. Millencolin is very good as well.

Comeback Kid is awesome.

As is Rise Against.

As is 88 Fingers Louie... which you better know if you like Rise Against.

As is The Killing Tree... which you ALSO better know if you like Rise Against.

Oh... and while on the subject of those bands...

I should also add Stretch Armstrong and Strike Anywhere...

I haven't listened to any of these bands in so long...

Thanks for jogging my memory!

Strike Anywhere are really amazing! Saw them at the festival where I also saw Against me! and Strung Out as I previously mentioned in this thread

And I'm going to see against me! again next month! Can't wait!

british post-punk/indie ftw!

the libertines - up the bracket is fucking awesome..

1. the libertines

2. arctic monkeys

3. the clash

4. bad religion

5. DPT

i'm not really into punk. I like operation ivy...is that more ska? I love the clash, but they are way more musically interesting than most punk music in my opinion.

Crass

Leftover Crack

Subhumans/Citizen Fish

NoFx

Varukers

There are too many good band I love, it includes Expoited, The Casualties, Dayglo Abortion, the Unseen, The addicts

i love leftover crack but they seem like they would be the biggest ass holes... i dont know just my observation from their lyrics

Anybody else have a Last.fm account? It's a pretty cool website... just make an account, install their (virus-free/spyware-free/adware-free) client, and it'll track everything that you listen to (Winamp, WMP, Itunes compatible).

Here's a link to mine... http://www.last.fm/user/rxvcgiii

I listen to quite a wide array of music, which this list can attest to. Back when I was in high school, I listened to pretty much purely punk... but since, my tastes, although not particularly changed, have broadened to accomodate many different genres.

yeah thats true rock the 40 oz gets me super pumped to ski but singing about shooting the kids at school is pretty low

Bump

Reel Big Fish

#5 is a 5 way tie between dillinger four, big d and the kids table, misfits, stivs, and against me!

Leftover Crack - I'm honestly suprised anyone else has ever heard of these guys but theyre amazingThe GermsMisfitsBad BrainsDanzig - H'es not REALLY punk, but he was in the misfits so i think of him as punk
