'Punk' Sucks

i'm not hating on them I just don't think they're emo. It's funny some of you kids would argue till your dying day that death cab isn't emo (yea I know they say they're indie), but then you go and say weezer is. hmmmm. Whatever the person who started this thread listed the white stripes as a punk band.

'It was probably the most improved park in north america last year. That's mostly due to us getting up at fucking 8 am everyday and raking like monkeys, untill we were to baked to talk. Every now and then some texan would eat shit and it would be funny and we would call ski patrol on our radios. we would steal food from the base and cook it on our grill, then heckle people on the lift with our mega phone while we played frisbee across the run. and took naps behind the shack in the most exclusive hut on the mountain. o christ, best winter ever.'

those are just some of the kick ass 'punk' bands ...and music is not going down hill if any thing it seems like it's going way up right now . lots of bands have been around for a long time and still are amazing like NOFX are so old school and i still lisen to them like every day ..stuff never gets old . maybe your just going down hill . maybe the bands dont make a 'huge impact' to you because you dont like them so your part of music is the only part really 'going down ' lol like think about it ...who cares if songs all talk about girls i think thats a good thing unless your gay or something i dont see why it's a bad topic to sing about . whatever

just to say ska sucks is a terrible generalization. Ska shouldnt even be a genre, there are so many genres of ska. You have emo ska which most people just call 'ska' but also on the underground, not publicized punk world you hav hardcore ska like Choking Victim then theres also pop ska which is pretty publicized

this whole entire post has been misinterrperated(sp) I'm not ttrying to sit here and put these bands into genres, im simply stating that music today has gone way down hill since music of the late seventies early eighties. im not trying to classify what type of emo so and so is, and what type of ska this group is. Im simply stating the fact that music today sucks...

I read the first page and I'm not gonna bother reading the rest before posting this. This thread is nothing but a punch of people confusing their musical genres. Weezer is emo, Taking Back Sunday is punk, White Stripes are good, c'mon people! But I guess if you listen to The Strokes and the White Stripes and think you're listening to punk then you would think the 'scene' is going downhill. But c'mon, ska sucks? Ska is going as good as it's ever been (well, at least as far as 3rd Wave is concerned). Now that MTV doesn't care about ska anymore, (remember when Rancid and Aquabats and Reel Big Fish used to be on the radio?) ska is becoming more underground where only the devoted bands are making a difference.

third wave ska is a joke. original stuff was good, 2nd wave had its ups and downs. third wave ska just doesnt work for me. deals gone bad, thats one of the only recent ska bands i listen to

1. The song 'Davey Destroyed the Punk Scene' is by Anti-Flag, not NOFX.

2. NOFX currently sucks. They are better than the 'War on Errorism' album, which is just a total piece of shit.

3. 'Davey Destroyed the Punk Scene' isnt even about Davey Havok of AFI.

4. AFI is so bad right now, they should have their instruments taken away from them. 'Sing the Sorrow' is a piece of shit.

5. AFI played better punk the NOFX several years ago. Go buy 'Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes' or 'Answer That and Stay Fashionable.' Put on either one of those then put on 'Pump Up the Valium' and tell me which is better.

ReggaeConcept, if anyone follows what a band says that mindlessley they should be shot. (i am refering to what you say about nofx and not having any plans after we get rid of bush and so on...) that being said, I think they are doing a great thing. Us liberals are very devided in what we want to do first. nofx is trying to get us to focus on one thing and it sounds like a good thing to focus on for the time being.

about Minor threat vs. Fugazi, i think Fugazi is five times better! i reconize all that minor threat has done to the punk seen but i just cant see why anyone would like their ''screching randome noise'' that much. i mean i dont disslike them but i would listen to any one of the newer (good) punk bands any day before i listen to Minor Threat. i have heard/own by fugazy: 'Repeater', 'End Hits', The Argument and 'red medicine, (the only one that is marginally bad is red medicine. End Hits and The Argument are absolutly great) and when i compair that the the minor threat cd i have heard (the red and black one not sure what it is called) they dont compair. i would listen to the fugazi albumes any day over the minot threat one.

nofx did not jump on the i hate bush bandwagon, they we're the first aboard. they have always been gov't bashing (perfect government and others). they hate on those things that ruin a good way of life (the decline). bush happens to be one of those things right now, so they sing of him.

they do have plans for what to do after bush is out, that is, bitch about kerry, they will bitch until things are right and there is a true democracy in america.
