PSA: You Can Die Hitting Urban

If I would be able to choose where i died, and how I died, it would be by skiing. SIP to ya man. may you shred endless blue sky day pow in the heavens of snow

.

RIP,SIP fuck mann

Helmets kids, helmets. I fucking hate seeing ignorant ass little kids with no helments (not in anyway saying he was ignorant or a little kid) that think they are the shit (or that he was the shit, he might have been i don't know) but ughhh.

fucking awful. RIP. it scares me when people try and justify not wearing helmets when skiing super hard, you can never predict where you're head will end up during a fall.

That is such a horrible thing to go through. I've been through head injuries with friends and it's scary as hell. Much love to Will and all of his friends/family including OP. RIP Schooler. I hope this gets kids to open their eyes to safety.

I think it is about time that the different film groups demand that all of their riders wear helmets, all of the major athletes should be setting the example

thats awful, i feel like a lot of people have a few beers or drinks when hitting urban, or skiing park in general with friends, or even at rail jams i see it a lot

No not at all.

This issue has been around for a while though. I remember in ride bmx mag around 2000-02 some kids mom wrote a letter to the mag about helmets and how they shouldn't put people in the magazine riding without helmets. Basically they just left it up to the riders, and I think that should be how it is.

I understand that kids would be more willing to wear helmets if they saw all the pros wearing them, but I still don't think it should be forced. For younger kids a lot of parents make their kids wear helmets. That makes sense to me, but when your an adult, it's your own choice.

I just think it would be lame to force riders to wear helmets.

It would be dope though it some helmet company teams made some sick edits with riders who did have helmets.

Idk if that made any sense. I'll be wearing my helmet this year though.

This. Vies to you man it's great that you did this and spreading the word on how important a helmet really is. None of us want to be "pussys" and go to the er if we hit our head but damn this shows that you shouldn't screw around with falls when you hit your head. I hope everyone can learn something from this. R.I.P.

Really sorry to hear that your friend passed away. RIP.

I do wonder sometimes why alot of people choose to do urban without a helmet. It's just as or perhaps more dangerous than other sub-categories of skiing.

Let us hope something like this doesn't happen again, vibes to you sir.

RIP. That sucks, it seems to me that I'm hearing more and more about these types of deathes latley. I dont care how "cool" it is not to wear a helmet, its just dumb. He'll be missed, vibes to his fam

Yes. This was a horrible accident that happened to a great friend of mine, while he was surrounded by people that care about him. Nobody had any idea he had really hit his head until 20 minutes after when he finally mentioned it hurt a bit, and for the rest of the night he was acting normal and gave no signs of a head injury.

We are in the process of getting stickers and arm bands (that will fit over ski jackets) made up. If anyone is interested in purchasing some, message myself or OP for information, all proceeds will go to Schoolers family.

Please everyone protect yourself, it can happen to anyone. Will was an amazing skier and one of the happiest people I've been lucky to meet.

Ski in peace will. We miss you already man. And i love this community for the amount of support shown for someone they dont even know. Big ups to everyone and my thoughts and prayers go out to wills family

not intending to spam multiple posts, but id like to say a couple words to this post, your other one has been deleted already and I never read it.

Its easy to say stuff like that on the internet, and when you dont know the person and there is no connection at all to who he was. But when they say "only the good die young" it fits Will perfect, he was always happy, always nice, always shredding hard and I dont know a single person that he didn't like/wasn't friends with around here, and I especially dont know a single person that didn't like him.

I wish I could agree with you that riding urban without a helmet is like riding the back country without a beacon, but thats not where we are right now, it doesn't have the same reputation and everyone, EVERYONE, is a lot more slack about riding urban without a helmet. I always saw Will wearing his helmet on the mountain, he always had that, his shoulder brace, and his beacon. He had it all the time, often in bounds too, because he'd always be slipping in and out for a run here and there, and he was safe about his back country skiing. The group he rode with would check the avi conditions regularly and they were smart about what they did.

So my response to you is really that we do need to get the community of skiers to have the same attitude about helmets with urban as we do with beacons in the back country. I know if I see any friends hitting urban without a helmet they will be getting yelled at very loudly by me.

He's permabanned for the shit that he said.

Really sucks how little respect some kids have. I find it disgusting how little respect some kids on here have for fellow skiers. This kid died young, died doing whst he loved, what we all love. I'm glad the vast majority of people understand that.

Sorry about your friend though. RIP

Fuck this is terrible news. Didn't know Will very well but had a great time cruising around Nelson last winter with him briefly. RIP buddy, far too soon.

holy shit, that's why I hate brain injuries, you never know what's really going on. RIP +++vibes.
