I think what some people are missing out on/and maybe I'm also misunderstanding, but even though saying tranny in a skiing sense isn't offensive, the word itself may bring negative emotions from somebody that has been called it in a derogatory way. When skiing I just want everyone to be having a good time, so I'll try to stop using it, but it's not always easy to cut a word out of your vocabulary.

I think not being cognisant of the context of a word and blatantly deciding to take offense even when none was intended is some weak ass shit. You can apply this logic to literally any clean word that can be used as an insult. Hell, 'slope' was even a disparaging term towards the Vietnamese for quite some time but you'd never know it. It literally means your perceived gender aligns with your birth sex. So practically 99% of humans. It's funny that it's being used as an insult especially when most people have no clue what it means (I had no idea til like 6 months ago lol). It's like an inside joke ?. Out of genuine curiosity, can you elaborate on why you don't like the term cis?It's literally just 'straight' but referring to gender instead of sexuality. Certainly nothing to be ashamed of imo, like, the vast majority of the population is cisgendered.

I'm not going to cancel you if you still say tranny, cause it's not worth losing friends and dividing the community over shit like this. But IMO using a different word or just saying transition really isn't that hard.

It’s literally just somebody who’s not trans and the idea that it’s primarily used in trans circles to denigrate cis people is just laughable.

Definitionally it doesn't, but depending on the context it could come across that way. But that's true of any word that is descriptive tbh. Had a "friend" who was a white, cis, super leftist chick. She was cool and all but she would 100% through it around in conversations as some sort of insult.

I don't think it really denigrates cis people. It's just another word that can be used in a stupid way as an insult or to attack the group that someone has rather than the ideas that an individual has. TBH though it's use in that way is pretty limited to crazy lefties or Reddit circle jerks and has no bearing on 99% of society including myself
