^ didnt answer question

its the same reason pros in almost every other sport dont, its because they think they know what they are doing and it looks cooler

mostly because they are in control most of the time

i think pros dont wear helmuts because they're in control with their tricks so that they wont fall and hurt themselves. bit i bet they wear helmuts when trying a new trick.

armada, what cool people ridizle.

i think everyone who was in the x-games had one on... but if they are doing stuff that they can hit every time or powder they dont need one

Its winter, the birds have all flown south, all but one. One little bird that waited too long. As it flew to catch it's buddies it got icicles on its wings and fell to the ground. The bird then saw a nice looking branch at the top of a nearby tree and it said to a nearby cow, 'I want to reach that top branch but I don’t have then energy to fly up, can you help?' The cow said, 'Here, eat some of my poop it'll fuel you to climb up the tree.' The little bird said, 'Thanks!' and had some of the cow poop. The bird flew up to the first branch of the tree and rested, then the next day flew to the next branch, until finally the bird reached the top branch. Then the farmer came out with a shotgun...

The moral of the story is, bullshit may get you to the top, but it wont keep you there.

^^ I think the Xgames might have a helmut rule or something, or at least redbull wanted to get their name out a lot.

well thats the first quality post you have ever made..

you mean it's not spelled 'helmut?' In all seriousness though, most riders wear helmets at comps, largely because of rules but I think also because in comps the riders are often really pushing their limits, a lot of the time in icy parks. A lot of riders don't tend to wear them as much for videos and the like but I think that's either just a personal choice or due to softer snow etc.

When your doing something big there is no 'in control' you give'er and hope it goes all right. you plan stuff out but you leave room for error.

^^^^^(someone way up there)

I think your wrong, there is a such thing as in control, most pros know exactly were there body is at all times...I'm sure there are exceptions. but being in control of their actions is what makes them pros. It's what seperates them from weekend worrier, the guy who just goes out and hucks.

Yeah, exactly. For a pro to land on his head he has to fuck up REALLY badly. If they lose control in the air they should be able to still land on their feet.

yea so candide is just really really lucky....

ITS ALL SKILL AND TRAINING. Jesus dude.... think

even though its still stupid, they dont wear helmets cause they do have enough control so that if they do fuck up, it wont be on their head. if you watch any of the crashes its usually on their feet or side.

ask rory will about wearing a helmet. he asked someone why they were wearing one during warm-ups one time because it was only practice. he then overshot the hell out of the jump and almost killed himself. even pros aren't always in control. other factors can come in to play also like wind.

i think that olnick and dumont grew up wearing helmets because their parents made them so they just feel comfortable with it.

i have been wearing a helmet for a long time and when i go skiing with out it i feel kind scared or just wierd. but maybe its just me

Pros do know how to fall better then most of us from expierence. That doenst change the fact that what there doing involves way more energy then what most of us are doing. Things go wrong all the time and when your doing something the size of candide's hits.. soemthing small like a gust of wind can fuck you over pretty bad. Just because we dont see there crashes in the movies doesnt meen they dont wreck themselves. Remember in strike 3 when candide ran into the tree?

i think its just a matter of being used to something. if you grow up wearing a helmet, you'll probably just wear one on a regular basis. the only time i ski without my helmet is if im doing urban stuff or moguls, other than that, its just one of those things that will better your odds if you pull an eggbeater into some wood. plus ive had a couple concussions with my helmet, that would have been worse without it.

i can't wear a helmet, i just can't. i havent skied with em since i started, cuz the first one i had was heavy and hurt my neck (a boeri) so i never wore em, i got a giro cuz i thought it might be a good idea to wear one since i see ppl almost die. but when i wear a helmet i feel more prone to fall because i am not comfortable with it on. its different

well what im trying to say is some of these guys been skiing before helmets and they are wierd to them.

Weed: My Anti-Drug

I wear them sometimes and not other times doing the same things, but i know some riders that can't ride with them, and some that can't ride without them, and they all say its a comfort thing

/\ not always true, but yeah some people do. and its the most retarded thing you could do.

i just got a helmut and its annoying but u get use to it. i dont get it when u see guys wearing helmuts that are like 10 sizes to big for them and have like beanies and shit underneath, if they're trying to look cool it doesnt work, they just look gay.

I have a helmet, never worn it tho... I got one just after Dave hurt himself in China... he's got brain damage now... I also saw chris crashon his head with a helmet on and he was alright... it doesn't take a genious to figure outwhichis safer.. but I still don't like wearing them... when I start doing stuff that I could really injur myself on, then I'll wear it...

Not afraid to be mistaken not afraid to try, not afraid to be uncertain not afraid to die

scott hibbert is deffinitly controll 100 percent of the time. i mean, come on, hes a professional.

no such thing as control when you go big, thats why they eat shit/come up short/crash becuase its so big!

i wear a helmet now, and if i was a pro, it'd be all the more reason to wear a helmet. the magnitude of the stuff i'm doing goes up, and i'd have a lot more to lose if i fell and messed myself up just because i wasn't wearing a helmet.

find em fast, kill em slow

they say i got stupid when i hit my head

No one is in contoll all the time, will you people watch the falls segment ever. Pro that fall can be much worse than what people who are as good are doing because they are going much bigger and much more can go wrong. They wear helmets in competiticion because its less insurance for the mountain

I think pros wear or don't wear helmets based on personal comfort, the same as any of us. they're just regular people

Helmets have saved my head from concussions more than enough times. Thats the only reason i wear one. My helmet doesnt look bad either cause i got a bunch of stickers

I personaly dont like them at all. but Im really picky when I ski, I have to have everything perfect. I cant ski with googles cause they mess with my vision and air awareness. helmets are just extra weight really. theres only one real thing a helmet can prevent, and thats impact injuries. a helmet isnt going to save a broken neck or arm, and even deceleration concussions. if Im hitting handrails though I sometimes wear one if theres pavement underneath

I think they should always wear helmets because they hugely influence pretty much every other skier.

Most Pros don't wear a helmet because of the 'Image' I do full time, same as Olenick's Dumont and Hibbert. Jon and some of the other Red Bull athletes wear them quite a bit too. When you say it's not comfortable or it messes you up that's just cause you're not used to it, or you have a bad Helmet. The pros can't say that cause at every contest they have to wear them and they ski just fine. I can't ski with a helmet that fully covers my ears it messes with my equalibrium, so I take the ear flaps off and wear a bandanna or a thin beanie. Trust me, I skied for 12 years before I ever wore a helmet, and even then I only wore it for Aireals. I didn't start wearing a helmet full time till 2 years ago and I can't believe more people/pros aren't doing it. Pros are supposed to be roll models for everone else in the industry but if they're not wearing a helmet then that's not setting a good example for the kids out there who should be. it doesn't matter how in control you are there's other people on the mountain who are not. I'm more scared skiing from the lift to the park, or from the park to the lift than I am throwing a 9 on a hundred foor table. I'm just saying that helmets make the sport we all love a little bit safer, and with as many variables as we all deal with every day there's no reason not to take every precaution possible to make sure that you'll be skiing for the rest of your life.

W Helmets 4 Life!

^No, some people, like me, just don't like the way helmets feel period. and chin straps always make me feel like I am suggocating even if they are as loose as you can safely wear them.

I usually don't wear my helmet, just because I don't like it. I wore one a lot growing up when I'd be racing and stuff but when I was just skiing on my own time with my dad I would never it and never really needed. I do wear my helmet when I am trying new shit and know that I will be falling, and sometimes when I am hitting rails but other than that I hate wearing helmets.

ahahah i bet its cause at the hights their busting shit, a helmet wont make one bit of fuckin difference, think about it, if someone landed on their head off chads or the big parkasaurus table, theyd prolly snap their neck, or kill themselves with a helmet anyway

in all honesty it could be your helmet, if it doesn't fit you right it feels akward and 'Suffocating' but one that fits, once you're used to it you don't even know it's there.

believe it or not a helmet will help you even on big hits like Parkasaurus. Mine had saved me serious damage at least 5 times this year, all on pretty big stuff. I got a concussion at Parkasaurus in the pipe but had I not been wearking my helmet my season could have easily been over.
