Prizm, ChromaPop or other?

There’s so many completely different opinions out there on this. Some people swear by one or the other, some people think they’re both good, some ppl think they’re marketing bullshit. Any opinions from ppl who’ve actually skied with both? I’ve tried chromapop MTB goggles and they work great but I haven’t tried a sphericle lens in the snow with either technology.

Basically which is worth buying and which is better?

when in doubt live by the rule AO...(Always Oakley)

To be more helpful they are the same idea as far as technology goes. I have snow prizm, Road Prizm, and Trail Prizm lenses and all of them definitely help in there respective environments. The most noticeable difference is with snow Prizm lenses though, makes all non-prizm lenses obsolete as far as im concerned

Have you tried Smiths version or any other companies (like dragon or anon)? And what kind of conditions are typical of where your at?

I can vouch chromapops are the fucking shit 10/10

Can't say anything about chromapop or others, but i've got prizm (iridium red i think? whatever the low light one is) and they are unbelievable. Bought them as a low light lense but have kept them in ever since first using them. Really bring out the contrast low light but hold up surprisingly well in bright light. Honestly unless I knew I was going out on a pure blue bird spring day, i probably wont bother changing them out.

What makes them so bad?

He's vouching they're good lenses my dude... Modern lingo may fly over some peoples heads. I have IO/Xs with the chromapop lens and have to say they're pretty rad. Had a bunch of cloudy days but I could see perfectly throughout it. As well, the goggles themselves fit pretty nice and comfortable.

That being said, SPY just came out with their new "Legacy" goggle which has my interest too. I just came off of two seasons with Happy Lenses from SPY and got to say, they're awesome too. Pretty bombproof goggles too. I used the Bravos but wouldn't mind sizing up to the Legacys or Dooms if I didn't buy the IO/Xs.

I have a prism lens and i find it not bs, but I don't new extra contrast in sunny conditions so the darker prism lenses are kind of useless in my opinion

I love my smith I/07's...whatever the top of the line ones were. That being said the frame design is AWFUL. Never use them anymore snow gets inside way to easily

Giro is doing the new VIVID lenses which are really dope especially in the storm and low light conditions. Definitely would recommend!

VIVID by Giro is pretty crisp. no glare in there new cylindrical lens for the Axis goggle.I also think you gotta try some product on with a helmet to find the best fit and look.

just copped the squad XL for pretty cheap on black friday with 2 chromapop lenses, idk what the vision difference between the cylindrical and spherical lense is but i do know they where 100 cheaper. Just wearing therm they seem a lot nicer than the old non chromapop ones

Also have chromapop sunglasses for sailing in the summer and they work great

I have some oakley Prizm sunglasses and I'm looking to get some for mountain biking now, I think the lenses actually do what they're advertised to.

How about for storm conditions? I’m in bc and we get shit ton of cloudy days

The Chromapop storm lense is great for flat light. Most Smith goggles come with two lenses and they are super easy to change so I carry both lenses with me most of the time.

I’m prob getting a new helmet this season so I can buy to suit or vice versa depending on what I prioritize

I’ve heard good things about chromapop for sailing // spherical lense are made to match the curve of ur eye vertically as well as horizontally so that you get less distortion but if ur on a budget it’s deffinetly not always worth it

Ive been using IO/7s since they first came out and have never had this problem, even on the deepesttttt days where its faceshots all day. If its really wet and you get warm the might fog if youve been using them for a few years and the factory antifog wears off or your vent is blocked.

Yea. Think it might be when the foam on the inside gets wet. Didn't use them that much. Could be the vents though

ChromaPop just enhances colors. Prizm tunes the colors specific to an environment (re: snow, or dirt, not both) to help you see betterer.

Not that I don’t believe you 😅 but where did u read that?

Both are good. But smith wins because you can wipe the inside of the lens. Oakley you may not as it will smudge the antifog spray.

Smith has the benefit of fogging all on there own without any aditional fuckery.

I haven't had any fogging issues on either of my IOX's and regular IO's. I've owned them for 6 and 3 years in possibly one of the wettest climates in NA. (Whistler). I have had a few friend's experience fogging in between lenses due to a delam of the inside lens. Smiths warranty is bombproof and always just replaces the lens no questions asked.

I work in a shop in whistler and I have more prizm lens returned to me than smith every year. I sell both at a fairly equal amount. But I will say Prizm is definitely an awesome lens as well, and they have some very nice looking frames to go with it. I find most fogging issues are due to user error.

I used to be a Smith Guy, used prodigies with the sensor mirror, and turbo fans on stormy days for years. When they went to I/O series the troubles started and I had several pairs fog on me over the years. Went to Oakley Canopy and never had a problem.

The canopy is a very nice goggle. Especially with the rose or pink iridium prizm lens on the storm days. I've tried both of those on big snow days and really enjoyed them.

I agree I never had 'fancy' goggle lenses before gettting Oakley PRIZM lenses and they are absolutely unreal. It is amazing how well they work anywhere from extremely bright to cloudy days. I was skeptical they were worth it at first but after using them they absolutely are.

Same...HATE my IO7's for this reason as well. I dont know why they always fog up on me...great lense horrible design in my opinion. Always clicks out of the little turn clamp whenever you adjust your helmet or something

Really? I always wipe the inside and outside of my Oakleys and never noticed any smudging

Im currently using the prizm lenses. For the most part I've had positive experiences. The clarity is pretty solid along with the range of view. I did have a few problems with fogging on heavy powder days. Then my dumbass tried to wipe the fog off and got some nice scratches on the inner lens. Im switching to chromapop shortly because I have had better experiences!

I tried ChromaPop but didn't find them as versatile as my Oakley Hi-Amber Polarized lens - unfortunately they no longer make that lens, an have had no luck finding one used.

Are Prizm lens like a reengineered Polarized lens?
