Pregame meal

whats a good pregame meal? usually before lacrosse games i eat like a bagel and gatorade, but that gets boring after a while.

If it is an evening track meet and i have nothinggg to do all day, i try to eat a good sandwich on wheat bread with lettuce and tomatos and hummus, no mayo or stuff like that and some vegetables like 4 or 5 hours before. About an hour and a half before its a good idea to have some water/gatorade and maybe half a pb+j or a powerbar. Personally, i realllly like harvest powerbars so i would try those beforehand. Great balance of carbs, fiber, protein, and vitamins.

i eat whatever i want cuz im core as shit. mcdonalds. whatever. maybe go to the bar for a beer and some good ol' greasy pub burgers

yeah we usually do that sort of thing before our alley cat races. they usually start at a bar, so we drink a few beers. the one race, we had to finish a 40 on the start line before we were allowed to take off. and there were two stops where we had to take shots. racing your bike through downtown rush hour traffic while wasted is always a good time.

Eat something with carbs, they are really important for fuel during a game/race/whatever, do that like 3-5 hours before, and then have a small snack like 45 mins before like a gatorade and a banana or something

why would you drink a soda? soda dehyrdates you even tho you are consuming liquid, its not good before a practice/game or whatever

hahah yeah. who gives a shit. before club soccer games i'll usually down some gas station food and a big gulp. night before i pound some beers

well right before you do serious activity like that, you want to be carried over the whole time with your energy. fats are generally not a good idea because while they do slow digestion, they hamper your ability.

the best thing i would suggest would be a pre-workout meal of 40 grams of slow burning carbohydrates and 20 grams of fast acting protien. basically what that means is have at least 40 grams of whole grains, oatmeal, sweet potato, shredded wheat, etc, and also at least 20 grams of protien in the form of a whey protien shake. for a full game i feel that you might want to increase those two by a little bit at least, but its up to you.

that is proven to work very well for fueling during intense workouts, especially during things like weight training. eating a fast burning carb like gatorade and a bagel will lead to an insulin spike, causing problems for you; 1 it triggers fat gain (which isnt good any time but especially right before activity), and 2 it will cause you to burn that energy quickly, leaving you depleted.

you would be amazed at how well that the meal i eat before i workout or go to a practice works. i feel completely energized and full just right so that i can really do well.

if you're interested in supplimenting, i suggest an NO product which instead of a sugary energy drink that will leave you drained, will open up your veins and pump blood through your muscles, instantly giving you greater strength and endurance, as well as energy and focus. such products are N.O. Xplode and White Flood. while they can be taken with food, they give biggest pumps and stuff when taken on an empty stomach, meaning you ate 2 hours previously.

Eat some pickles to keep you hydrated and maybe work out a little bit it always seems to give me an energy boost. As for food just eat anything with lots of carbs but no candy or soda.
