Posting from my iPhone!

that's awesome man! i'm finally taking the time to watch the videos on apple.com explaining the iphone in depth, and there's so much more to it than i thought. it's truly an amazing piece of hardware. i just hope you don't run into any nasty bugs with it.

Words cannot describe this thing. It truly is like nothing I have ever seen before. Get to an apple or AT&T store and check it out yourself!

Taken from the apple website:

Power and battery

* Built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery

* Talk time: Up to 8 hours2iPhone on Dock

* Standby time: Up to 250 hours3

* Internet use: Up to 6 hours4

* Video playback: Up to 7 hours5

* Audio playback: Up to 24 hours

Shittiest battery available. Honestly, it slowly gets worse and worse every single time you charge it.

I don't really see what the big deal is... why is everyone camping out and shit for this stupid phone. Apple's greatest achievement is not making electronics and software... it's in the marketing department.

I'll contribute Apple's success for their ability to promote a young, hip, trendy lifestyle. And exactly right, thats who they sell to.

Blackberry and other companies have been making all in one phones now for a while, and the new ones have all the same capabilities as the damn iphone (minus the flip screen... because that alone is worth buying a phone for...). What I also find is funny is how they chose to launch on AT&T, which is one of the slower data networks. Yet they are promoting all of these online and data features. Not to mention the data service package that goes along with it costs out the ass. I couldn't imagine paying $90-$100 for my phone bill.

Please tell me what the big fucking deal is here? There are people camping outside the Apple store by my house waiting on this thing, like theres a famine and they're handing out the last of the food rations.

i agree 100%, its nothing great, minus the multi-contact point touch screen, technology wise its moving backwards compared to many european and asian phones

you guys can hate all you want but as soon as you play with this thing I guarantee you'll change your mind. No PDA compares to the iPhone. Its so easy to use and it runs so smoothly. No hating till you see it for yourselves.

each of those quoted times would be for each individual thing runing only. when you combine it all together seeing you'll probably want to use your phone and your music, and maybe watch a movie, then go check your e mail, because you just spent $2000 on your phone how much battery life do you actualy get?

i don't really know how to come up with a good formula for it, but supose you say since 250 is the total standby hrs.

add up each individual battery life time to figure out how much all the functions suck out of the 250 total

then divide total battery life by the total functions battery life to get a guess at how much battery you'd get running everything at once and you get 5.5 hrs

so even if that isn't exactly how it works, you still get my point, their claims at how long it will last, are not accurate. Just think of this situation, you go to class in the morning, and listen to music to get to and from class, you also durring lunch watch some video, and check some email. suppose one day you forget to turn the music off for a class, then you've got plans for after school to go do whatever. At some point durring the night, your cell phone dies. Thats convienient.

you are making baseless assumptions about the phone based on biased opinions. i dont know why you insist on sticking with these claims unless you have some FACTS to back them up. you say their claims are not accurate, and your evidence for this is some bullshit "math"?

it sure would be fun to have one of those in school. i heard that there's only 8 gigs tho. is that true? because thats not alot of space for music, vids, and photos

It's the hype, you know? The media makes a huge deal of it and Jobs has these big invitation only events that really get people going. In that way he's a great salesman. The product is certainly something different and new, but not what he makes it out to be. that and ever since the ipod everyones been obsessed with apple, and who knows.. is it just a trend to be gone in a few years or will apple stay on top?

please go to an apple store and try it before you claim its overpriced/ a pos/ etc. i gurantee you will change your mind.

i'm not a tester for the phone, i'd have no facts to be able to back up any cliams that i've made, any reviews that i could read would not be facts unless there was some sort of peer review to ensure that it was unbiased.

I'm not trying to post facts. my claims that they are not accurate are based on the fact that the posted times for the battery life are for paticular functions for the phone, and none of their battery life figures actualy attest for the actual USE of the phone. So i still stand by that their claims for battery life are not an accurate representation of how much battery life you can exspect to get from your phone durring daily use.

there is a difference between thinking criticaly about something and trying to pass reason off as fact. While you may think my post is the latter i assure you it is not. It is only to bring up points of investigation for the phone.

according to nomenstevens it'll last through the day, which in my oppinion is crappy for a cell phone. I'd like to know that i'll have more than a day's range away from an electrical socket. --- But let me make you aware, i am compairing the iphone to the average cell phone, that i won't use for email, or music, or movies. You might claim this is unfair, that i'd have to only regard the battery life for the iphone's talk time and not include the other functions of the phone when comparing it to a device that is only going to perform talk time opperations... To bad, i'm not going to do that, and i'll tell you why: You payed $500 for the iphone, if you say you're going to compair continuous talk times with the average cell phone and the continuous talk times of the iphone, to make it fair, allow the regular cell phone (lets just say it's a $100 phone for this) to have $400 worh of extra batteries.

with all that being said, here is a list of why the iphone still sucks:

Exclusivly on ATT: If you don't get good service from ATT in your area, no matter how bad you want it, it's not worth it.

Unless you are in a wifi zone, the internet is encredbly slow, slower infact that other ATT phones with internet capability

The battery is not removable... do you recall the complaints about the ipod? glad Jobs addressed that issue

Glass: dropped phones = cracked displays

No MMS picture messaging

No Flash (for if you ever do get on the internet)

- Also no Java

No video recording

No instant messaging

No songs as ringtones

No GPS

and finally ipod/apple bandwagon people

but who really care right?

got to play with a friends last night, as did a bunch of other people, and every person agreed, that thing is pretty awesome. Just go play with it if you get the chance, the UI works just as you would expect so it takes no time to learn, and every little thing I thought 'this would be cool if it did ___' sure enough it did it.

im sure there will be a new version in a year or less

so, if a new version comes out, and i need a new phone, then i might grab that
