ok I know I sound like a total noob but what exactly do booster straps do? I know they wrap around the cuff of the boot liner and somehow make it more comfortable??

They link your calf to your boot even tighter. Since it’s elastic, you can get a super snug fit that works with your leg muscles, as opposed to the static strap or most boots. All this leads to way better power transfer into your skis and way more control.

From my understanding, the elastic band patent is expiring soon and most boot manufacturers will be incorporating first-party “booster straps” into all performance OEM boots launching in the next couple years. If the boot mfrs are going to this tech, you know it’s legit

The argyle strap attracts potential mates. It is extremely important that you make sure it dangles outside the bottom of your pants.

...oh yeah and it is a drastic upgrade over the stock strap of most boots.

Team mount (-2.15cm from center)

thanks! I have a pair of unmounted 112 and 122 here :o

but kinda holding on mounting as Im considering putting either grifons, jester, or duke PT pro.. or pivot + cast or just pivots...

duke PT toe is kingpin(/alpinist toe, soo yeah and the skis are fairly light

Sooooo the 102’s are lightttt. But the jester pros being full metal are heavy... so overall the skis themselves are kinda heavy. With that being said, the mount at team is pretty far forward. I can easily butter the noses, but I’m having trouble getting on the tails.

I want to get the 112’s and throw some pt12’s on them and use those as a touring/deeper days ski.

Ha ha. Do you know what a heavy ski is like? I mean, you gotta' have a chair lift with extra power!

I have 194cm 2018 devastator with Pivot 18s on them, I think thats the definition of heavy OVER 4KG per ski

Oh absolutely! I have some 2015 Bent Chetlers in a 185 with Atomic STH2 WTR 16’s (I believe they’re metal) and those babies weigh at least 8lbs a ski. But they cruise through crud and variable terrain like nobody’s business.

Yea, I think the few pairs of Atomics I have with plates and race binders are at least 10 lbs per ski!

Puts some lead in my light ass!

Never been mounted, in great condition other than some UV discoloration. Hopefully gonna find some cheap bindings to put on em and rip some bumps

Oh shit! You are going to ski those and not want to ride anything else!ahahaha I had a very similar pair back in the late 80’s early 90’s then bought some K2 Extremes in 93.

4ks are more ks! will it still have your voice on slowmo tripp out feature?

I hope so! Ha ha! It's going to be a learning curve. New menu to negotiate.

Should be a great video cam.

In the crash, the lens of my HF G-30 was broken from the camera, and now it's just barely hanging on. For sure moisture going to get in there. I will try to use it though until I get the G60.

Bought this same one! Stoked to take it to Idaho/Wyoming this upcoming weekend. I have been really impressed so far with how easy it has made snapping quick, quality shots.

X100 V. Never had a nice digital camera before and I'm kinda over film. And after reviewing a lot of my photos it's clear I can deal with a lack of zooming. All the ones I like are at a really similar focal length, and almost always between 24-35mm equivalent.

Where in Idaho? If you're down to shred I'm at bogus every weekend, gimme a PM!

I’m from Idaho (grew up skiing Pomerelle every day) but I’ll be in Island Park and skiing the Ghee for the weekend

Yeah I've had all sorts of cameras but never a modern digital camera, especially off this sort. I'm excited for it.

The Big Orange Book

and I saw this particular book referenced by Bruce Tremper in one of his books and figured it would also be another great read and another good educational experience.

Thought a one-boot quiver would be fine given my Roxa R3s are advertised as a 50/50, "120 flex" 3 buckle touring boot. However, feet have been feeling like they're swimming on lift laps and super unstable while charging fast and landing off stuff in the resort. Also started developing early stage tendonitis in the hinge of my left ankle up into my shin, which is painful and seems very probably related to the boot issue. So taking the week off to ice ankle, and went all out and got the stiffest 130 flex all mountain boot known to man. Got a super good deal too. Stoked!

I swear if there was an official ski instructor boot that would the one. I mean that in the best way possible.

Some p15s that I'm gonna throw on my kartels (with cast system), literally can't wait to ride those skis in the backcountry

I feel so sorry for your legs... I love my Kartels but there’s no way in hell I’d ever put a CAST with metal Pivot 15’s on it to tour. Those things are like bricks attached to my feet with Pivot 14’s, I can’t image trying to skin up with them.

with that being said; I’ll blow through just about any crud or variable terrain without problem and they’re hella fun in deeper stuff so it’ll be a blast coming back down.

14233189:Lazylightning said:
I'm coming off daymakers so anything will be lighter lmao, I do also have a dedicated pin setup so the Kartels are more my charger

That makes muchhh more sense haha I was thinking about doing a Kartel backcountry set up until I picked up a ski. They’re absolutely bomber as far as not taking coreshots and busting through crud but at the end of a long powder day, my legs are screaming haha

I loaned a super superfit buddy cochise dyn 130s + touring setup, not a light setup, he made that shit look so light and was just running up hill

Stepping up the coffee game a bit.

Also, first RF lens for my camera. Just wanted a light, walk-around lens for when I don't need to bring my entire kit.

My current touring setup is Jefferys with metal pivot 15s and daymakers. It won't feel heavy as long as I don't try anything lighter

this popped up locally, with unopened minimist speed

my first moment skis, probably to short for me, realisticly, but tested GF boots + my new boots and both fits, aprox 1cm rear of mark.. but.. meh I need the float

I'm envious of your quiver. Some excellent skis in there

these boots crush ass so hard. Not too much of a fan of the stock powerstrap once it gets worn-out and loses its touch, but its a fixable issue with boosters. I threw a set on my MVs this winter and feels like these things got nitrous in them lol. Also look into replacement soles for these too.

My "touring" setup is also Jeffreys with burly metal telemark bindings. Don't tour much so I don't really care that they are heavy.

All my friends have pin bindings and lightweight setups, but I'm the one laughing when we end up skiing chop and shitfuck.

Heavy and damp skis forever

I can't recommend this book enough to people, I describe it as Gladwell's 'blink' but with science instead of anecdotes.
