Gonna be an essential piece for whatever I have in hopefully 2-3 years for bikes and yes, hopefully a braap machine for the snow. If I didn’t buy a Subaru and got a rig id be hustling to get one right now.

Yeah tbh I'm terrified that the lifts won't open. I have a feeling that the backcountry will be a circus next year if the resorts shut down. Thousands of gapers on brand new touring gear with no way of getting avy training due to COVID — what could go wrong?

Also is there no way to run a trailer behind your Subaru? Might be worth looking into even if you have to run some weird mods

Yeah dude the wasatch is gonna be absurd idk if I’ll buy an Alta pass yet honestly even if they open in November they could close in December if people are still idiots, grizzly gulchs lot the first few days post closure in March was absolutely insane. I wish I had the money this year for a sled cause might be worth it to get away from the beaters, not a ton of great access like places further north but definitely a shit ton to explore on a sled. I still need to ride a few first cause I’m a smaller person and the one time since I was maybe like 10 I rode one this season, just need to learn control going downhill it’s so suspect on your friends $8k ski doo.

I could put a hitch on my Impreza but with 140k on it now by the time I have the funds it will not wanna tow that much, I know 4 cylinders can do it with one sled and a small trailer but I don’t want to blow up my transmission like that. Do wanna lift it by the winter with forester struts maybe, a wrx swap would be cool but not worth it too without $$$. Trying to keep this car decent enough to sell for 2-3k down the road and build up more savings and credit to get a solid newer truck/suv (ya know when an 06 tundra isn’t 12k with 200k miles) and then a sled if I feel I truly want one, cause I know Utah will be more and more filled with people touring by the year and I’ll wanna escape that and take trips further north. Only downside is not many of my friends here who I even tour with want to commit to a sled really, wouldn’t be hard to get a friend to come out with me though haha.

truee. yeah if i end up with a sled i'm sure it's gonna become another hobby in itself, seems like there's a lot to learn even after i figure out how to move/store it.

i'm def trying to recruit people to split the cost. got a few interested but most seem more excited to save the money and earn their turns haha

Yeah true, my friend from Montana said he use to sled more than ski, and now he tours everyday here. But yeah my main tour partners friends roommate has a sled here, might talk to him in the future about sharing it, obviously I’d pay the most but not a bad call to split it.

Bough a sled to ski, will likely end up sledding more than sled skiing tbh.

True, I mean the trailer might take up most of that weight considering sleds are under 1000lbs.

I could see it happening for sure haha, I know when the day comes I’m probably take some time to learn and make sure that I can control it right in off camber/steep sideways areas and such before taking my friends and skis out. Just so insanely nice to be able to lap an untouched zone without ruining your legs on the skin up.

Maaan sledtalk is a forbidden fruit for us, not allowed for other than transporting goods to a cabin and such :(

And even then, only with special permits and this and that.

All this sled talk is making me want a sled

What would be considered a reasonable budget for a used, but not total piece of shit, sled for a beginner?

Well, I am not sure how much to an affect dogfart networks production lockdown played into my decision to climb Kilimanjaro. The climb decision may or may not have occurred if dogfart network was still in production and producing regular content. I really do not know.

amazing things happen when dogfart shuts down

Those are sick, Ryan Schmies did a really good job on the topsheet

Top sheet smop sheet. It's everything beyond the top sheet that makes a ski worth a crap.

Check this sheet! This is my latest free skis, so actually not a purchase.

Avy class in feb + new patchwork for my trucks tire + school stuff and skis

Interested in the CAST system but the other binding options for touring out there now make the decision kinda hard to make. Its not too heavy of a ski though, should do fine for checking out stuff.

It's a heavy MOBA mouse but I bought it to see if it's viable for FPS games. Gonna compare its performance to my Razer FPS mouse. Wish me luck.

Hell yeah dude enjoy the avy course, idk what your body type is but with kind of a chargy looking ski I think the cast would be perfect, I feel like my stiff enforcers with kingpins won’t like my smaller body sometimes in fast oh shit moments. I just don’t suggest shifts cause they’re so finicky and annoying in deep snow, seeing Lucas Wachs and Sammy skiing in the kingpins is pretty helpful in trusting them but they always lock out.
