and a whole bunch of other computer shit for my first PC build, have pretty much no idea what the fuck I'm doing. Bye bye dying laptop.

Yo same here.

Went with the following:

Ryzen 5 3600 for the CPU

MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon ATC for the motherboard

G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32 GB for RAM

Western Digital 1TB hard drive for storage

Intel 660p Series 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for the OS/booting

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB for the GPU

Corsair RMx (2018) 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX for the PSU. I wanted a 750 buuuut I couldn't find a 750 or 650...

Fractal Design Meshify C for the case.

Also had to get a keyboard+mouse+monitor. In the end it was ~$1,750 or so because of the latter 3 items+rush shipping for others. I think without that stuff it was more along the lines of ~$1,400 after taxes.

I've got a few things I double ordered because of wiiiide delivery date windows so I'll have to refuse delivery on those and have them sent back.

I went with a lot of RAM because it's going to be used for a work computer till I can return to my office and I deal with a lot of large databases and excel files.

Should all get here by Thursday PM/Friday AM. I'm excited.

Yeah I know some of those words

I was initially thinking about just a basic gaming PC, but I've never really been into video games. Then I was thinking about a mini ITX build, then I found this ASRock Deskmini thing and saw it was under 2L and I was sold. I can even mount it to the backside of a monitor with a VESA mount adaptor.

Computer part prices are so fucking volatile. I was going to use a Ryzen 5 3600g but it went from $150 to $200 to like $300 over a couple weeks but I think the Ryzen 3 3400g should suit my needs well. I honestly have no fucking idea what I'm talking about tho. I'm just hoping I can mabe play Steep on low settings.

That thing looks sick. Great if you're tight on space and don't want to spend a lot of $$. If you're not into gaming, I think that'll suffice.

What's your plan with it?

Yeah, it seems part costs are ALL over the map right now with the quarantine going on.

I've heard mixed reviews of that stem (the bearing preload screw loosening) but I really like the concept, do you already have the EDC tool?

Yeah. I’ve heard the same. I just got the basic stem, without the preload thing cause I’ll just have the SWAT tool in there. One up tool can go on my other bike. Basically just got the stem cause I needed a 35 mm stem and could get a deal on this one.

Pretty much just going to be a basic home computer for streaming, youtube, basic productivity stuff, light photo editing to replace my laptop that never leaves my desk. Might run some games from my childhood like Crimson Skies and MX vs ATV but I doubt i'll actually get into gaming much.

Gonna climb some shit

Still wondering if I’m gonna want some considering I just bought this today, was in a shop about to buy a 50cm one for $100 but a kid hit me back with a 60cm for the same price and until the beer I just gunned it’s unused. Got carabiners and a leash at the shop for $40 so would’ve spent almost the same but got a longer axe in the end.

not necessarily but probably. Did superior on a pretty gross snow day this szn and they made it significantly less scary. got tired of renting them from oa so i bought some. also the axe is a wonderful gun tool

Yeah I think the only thing I’d do right now with it is suicide and maybe a few other chutes that still go with easier access. Next year I plan to use it a lot, probably will get some crampons soon, i did superior post storm so it was ok but did LSB about a month ago and that was getting bit crusty on the southern side

And with that I've decided to do the Superior Hiking Trail this summer. I also bought $10 worth of tyvek, cuz I'm not spending $70 on a footprint.

After seeing people with a wire bristle stuck in their gum I had to quit using them. Slice a lemon in half and run it across a hot grill cleans it super nice. Along with this weird composite brush I got.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat, a buddy who works in an ER told me horror stories about how many folks he's dealt with who had bristles logged in their intestines. Not trying to rain on the parade, but never using one of those again.

I need to get a new grill so bad.

How'd it turn out?

Guess I'll be inspecting the grill for wire pieces before I flop that steak on

Went pretty well, albeit with a few hiccups, just booted it up and installed Windows a couple hours ago. This thing is tiny, the thingy on the side allows me to mount it to the back of my monitor and it’s pretty much invisible.

Somehow managed to get the wrong type of hard drive but the local computer store had what I needed. First got a 1TB m.2 sata iii drive when I needed a m.2 nvme. I may be able to adapt the sata iii to use in the 2.5” bay so not a total loss.

planning on picking up a super cheap used second monitor tomorrow and figuring out how to route all of the cables neatly. Pretty fun lil assembly, now I kinda want to see if I can figure out what’s wrong with my laptop

Here it is on the back of my 24” monitor. Best part is my desk is a lot more cat proof. The lil fucker spilled water on my laptop a couple weeks ago which is actually why I started looking into building a new computer

I have one of these grill paddle things and it is great. I just grabbed this pic from the internet but it looks like there are lots of different ones inexpensive or just make it yourself. Way better than a brush to scrape the grill with IMO

Just leave the grease on there. It adds extra flavor and the heat from the grill warming up will keep it sanitary. It cleans itself too when it eventually catches fire.

I feel like this thread is a trigger for people to buy similar things. This page starts out with two people buying climbing gear, then someone buys bike parts, then someone else buys bike parts, then someone buys a bike, then another person buys a bike, then someone else with more bike parts. I buy a tent, further down another person buys a tent. Clearly we're all just circle jerking in the thread.

Granted there's seasonality to the gear, but still.

Was hoping to get em lower but was bidding against a bot, so I just hit buy now cause $150 for two new radios is a bargain.

Upgrading all the internal parts of my fork.

Push ACS3 for the air side

And the Charger 2.1 for the Damper side

Did you go Charger RCT3 or RC2?

I've been considering doing that upgrade to my Revalation RC instead of shelling out for a new Pike Ultimate, but first I should definitely just get a full suspension service and upgrade to the new Debonair Spring

Wow, that's a steal!

BCA radios are nice and sturdy, good battery and the smart mic is cool, just a bit of a ripoff at msrp imo.

BCA is pretty much alone on this specific BC skiing radio segment so they milk it as much as possible, can't blame them, but I find the $180 retail price per radio for a 2 watt radio way too steep, when you can get a quality motorola + good shoulder mic for less than half of that.

But good find, $75 per radio, makes it a no brainer!

I went with the RC3. I didn't think that I would really need that amount of adjustment to justify the RC2. I'm not racing or biking for money, so having a simple climb/trail/decent switch was enough for me. I also did the Debonair spring last summer, and it definitely helped. But I figured since I was spending money, might as well go all-in with the Push kit. Once installed, I'll rent a Shock Wiz and get it dialed.

Yeah I think with shipping it’s as much as a new single radio without shipping, still in the wrapping and all which is nuts. I have a few buddies I go out to bigger stuff with so not a bad idea to have one for them, gonna fuck around with it in the yard in a few days when it comes lol.

Even if you decide you're not a runner, this is a great purchase. I love the Salomon running vests. They fit so comfortably and just work so well. I run in mine a lot, but I also do longer bike days, and bikepacking trips in it.

Solid purchase!

Hate to break your bubble, but I don't think the ShockWiz is compatible with a coil, even though the Push kit has the air charged bottom out damper. Maybe useful if you install the Charger first while you still have the air spring though.

I didn't know that. Maybe I will try it out with the the Charger. Thanks.

Bit the bullet just now on these at a ski shop, mainly between these and the rustler 10s, they had a dictator 3.0 but the sidewall had a little shot in it. Figured I’d try a normal fairly stiff ski before going up to a lot metal, maybe I’ll get them for the resort but these should have a kingpin soon for touring, stoked.
