Post Whats on your Skmind

Skiing at red lodge today went from shi weather to actually decent and some how my feet stopped being cold, overall decent first day

Yeah, traffic was terrible today for no good reason. I was to the canyon by 7 this morning and it still took 45 minutes to snowbird. My friends that left an hour later spent over 2 hours crawling up the canyon

I'm looking forward to skiing Alta next year where i can avoid morning traffic and show up at noon instead.

I'm trying to understand how the entire lots and everything was filled up by 9 and yet I skied onto Peruvian pretty much all day.

Yeah, that was weird. Peruvian was great all day, but every other lift I went to was swamped. I guess the average IKON visitor doesn't realize that there's more to Peruvian than 3 groomers and a cat track.

hopefully we can keep it that way.

hell yeah dude, once they clicked they felt super easy for me. its just like a little bit of patience off the lip and then quick rotate your hips. tho I prefer sw lip 2 which some people think is weird. now I feel like if I can go switch on a feature, I should be able to switch 2 it.

SW lip 2 is def less scary on any high rail because getting your tips over is easier than your tails. However because this rail had a gap into it I felt that tails would be easier. I struggled with being patient off the lip though so I still need a lot of work on these.

Now I need to learn some blender natural sw 2s because I can't look over my left shoulder lol.

I might just do brighton pass + solitude next year to avoid the snowbird mess. Friend said BCC has been super easy to deal with this year. Don’t know the best solution for LCC, but free for all ain’t it.

That's a valid plan. I don't really like the Brighton vibe but at this point I'll support anything except Snowbird.

POWDR has embraced the stratification of skiing even more than Alterra and I'm fucking sick of it.

Come to my country where the big powder day of the season is 20cm! And its on a random tuesday!

Every day I have available to go skiing it seems it always snows :( I just want a nice not snowing day at big sky

Ive had a ton of fun skiing mega resorts and/or places that are on every skiers bucketlist to check out, but I'm falling in love with the indy resort vibe going on lately. I really wanna go ski Powderhorn sometime.

I really miss old Big Boulder right now. Used to be able to show up and know that they would have a decent park this time of year and usually half way through April.

can you at least still park at Bypass Road? For me, it was going back to the truck for lunch and/or beers/safety meetings and wait until things settle-down in terms of crowds and then go hammer some laps.

There is always a spot if you look hard enough and know a thing or two

Powerhorn was my local for a season. It’s a grand old time. I really wanted to make it there this year especially since I get 3 free partner tickets. Last I saw, the main express lift was down but they do have Poma Leitner down in town (GJ) but they’re waiting for a part from Europe

100 days!!! I bet you'll get more next year!

I'm happy to hit 60 this weekend. That's better than my average!

Same, i should reach 60 next week, better than my last two seasons combined. Feeling really grateful for this season

I'm at 34 days today. All but 2 in resort

Idk how long I'll drag out the season, but I'm hoping for some late season mammoth trips to end it in the 60s

Damn dudes I hit five days this season and popped my knee in the mammoth parking lot lmao

Also as a follow up on this. Turns out I nastily dislocated the hell out of my patella, and somehow was able to create a couple of microfractures that run along the inside of my knee. But no ligament damage or meniscus damage like they thought i had that would require surgery.

Seasons still fucked, but at least I don't have to get knocked out and scalpeled.

Moral of the story is don't try to jog around a group of slow walkers in the Mammoth parking lot on the first day of your homie's bachelor party.

I hope that when Candide is about 60 he drops that he's actually got dozens of hours of footage he never released and it'll all be dropped at once.

fr, im feigning to see a full movie of this guy ripping

To the dude who was rocking swallowtails and a white helmet at eldora today:

you are a fucking beast. Idk how you pulled that shit off under the rainbow rail.

Love, the kid who slipped out on the long

tube like 3 runs in a row

Is Bend Oregon a nice place to live?

It’s kinda turning into a boulder-y city as far as i know. But I haven’t been in a couple years so it might have changed direction. There is lots of cool rafting spots

cruising in at 66 days so far, about 35 day below my average for this time of year. but boy has the quality of skiing improved since skiing big sky religiously

Been sifting thru the jetskis yt channel, trying to track down the song they used for 'Midwest 2023'. It's definitely sampling beautiful girls, but shazam didn't bring anything up. Custom track for the vid maybe? Wanna hear the whole thing, super interesting vibe.

Damn bro I forgot about this edit for a sec. The dub backie clip is so sick, everyone was so fucking hyped

I think what bothers me the most about all the crowding occurring in places like the Cottonwood Canyons is the sheer recklessness and disregard for safety and others safety. I'm seeing content of Mt. Superior that slid this morning pretty big and instead of conducting beacon searches for potential victims, dudes are just walking up the debris path to go ski some terrain that literally just slid or people coming down on terrain attached to it. Maybe I'm over thinking but wouldn't that be enough for you to just go back to the truck, grab your pass, and take some lift laps in bounds or just call it a day?

The fetishization of risk is real here. One of my friends consistently talks about wanting to "ski something sketchy" in the backcountry. I really don't get it.

There's plenty of steep terrain in bounds that I'll ski with my comfy downhill boots and bindings. But the backcountry is for skiing low-mid angle powder and not taking unnecessary risks. Honestly I blame The Chuting Gallery for a lot of this attitude in the Wasatch

Meadow skipping low angle glades really is the best thing ever. I miss that a lot.
