Post Whats on your Skmind

Toboggan signed-off at work this afternoon. This has been the hardest fucking season of my life and still have lots more to complete on my checklist, but todays sled run felt good and was the hardest ski run I've ever done.

anyone else just walk-up to work early just to take it all in and see the hill first thing in the morning? Its like taking it all in during a big NFL game with a home crowd. Watching cats still groom, park crew raking features and stuff....It will never-ever get old!

I used to love showing up to Stowe when it was still dark and seeing the lights on the cats under the gondola with the sunrise peeking behind Mansfield. Shit was beautiful.

7 out of the next 10 days are predicted to be in the mid 50’s in northern VT. Rip east coast ski season

at least northern vt had snow, here theres grass and the last time we had actual snow was 10cm in early january.

Why is Midwest skiing so dead this year? I had big ideas for this season and this is the closest I came to any of my ideas

Watching the sunrise/sunsets while snowmaking last year was pretty sweet.

got 2's on 2nd try and am landing em like every try, not even a fat tube either. 2 to switch as well. kinda sad but its harder to get on unnatural than just 270 to unnatural slide for me

cant clock in early but I still like showing up early at least to help or to just have some chill alone time in the locker room. I can't sleep in past 0530-0600 so that sucks, but its still worth it.

So which came first? The NS Instagram page or the website? I remember back in the day when people were first starting to use Instagram being one of the first people to follow the NS ig page. If the Instagram page came first, I’m probably about as OG as it gets.

Bro NS was created in 1999. Before instagram existed at all. NS is one of the oldest sites in the internet that’s still got a active user base.

I feel like you’re making that up to rob me of my OG status.

Yo after a backflip, do i try front flip or flat/rodeo 3/5? Also are mistys easier than frontflips? I wont have powder this weekend

Mistys are a little harder to do but safer than fronts. If you can flat 3 on tramp then you could try one they aren't too different from a backy.

In my opinion, bad winters are still good because they really push the skier to figure out creative ways to still progress and have fun in less traditional ways.

Zero Zone never would've happened without the pandemic shutting down resorts and then installing reservation policies.

[tag=262770]@ReturnToMonkey[/tag] did an upright 7 with a nice stale grab on like a 35 foot jump last may at copper and I still think about that 720 all the time.

Shouts out to the old guy who followed-me down a run today as we center-punched it with wasatch wiggles. Ur my homie 4 lyfe and you get the idea.

i stupidly mounted a mid fat pow ski at -2.5 hoping that it would still ski good in pow (it doesn’t). but it does happen to ski all mountain and park more fun than any other ski i’ve ever ridden and i think i’m falling in love. would it be crazy to mount two sets of quiver killers on this ski, one set at -2.5 for low tide days and one set at like -6 for pow and just move the binding back and forth depending on conditions?

Haha dude I sometimes ski with has frame bindings so he always shifts it based on conditions. One time he forgot to adjust the other binding and skied like 5 runs with one ~4 cm behind the other.

skied MRG yesterday, despite the warm temps, no grooming and rain overnight it was some of the best skiing i’ve ever done or had. Me and my sister threw some yellow wax on our skis and ripped for a good three to four hours before heading to burlington with our pops to celebrate his Bday! One hell of a day at the glen! she loved the lift like drop right at the base area also lol. Hyped to get my slalom obsessed sister to ski some bumps and drops

about to be on of my favorite times of the year, 3 different events this weekend at 3 different resorts and then master shredder at troll next weekend. Bittersweet it means the season is coming to a close but hoping to still get another 3 or 4 good weekends.

Harlaut is also in that saudi shit show :(

stop pretending like you're actually mad, it's just virtue signaling, there's no way you actually have an emotional reaction to a comp being held in saudi arabia. that is pathetic. you're also mad that no one, not saudi arabia or pro skiers or fis, gives a fuck about your bitching.

The sportswashing shit is pretty wack and sucks to see our sport being used for it. the country itself is so backwards in terms of treatment of women that im surprised a freestyle womens skier hasnt said anything about it (have they?)

i'm sure they have. i mean this is bringing a lot of attention to SA, maybe it will be good in the end. no one is speaking in support of them.

I've thought about doing that before. But in actuality I'm too lazy to swap my bindings every couple days depending on conditions.

Also you gotta strategically place your patterns to make sure you have adequate spacing between the holes. Pretty easy for some binding patterns, surprisingly tricky for different patterns

i got tyrolia attack 14s which have a really good pattern for that. i saw somone have two sets of quiver killers on a ski where one was for alpine bindings and one was for touring bindings. it was proof of concept enough for me.

I've installed a bunch of QK inserts at home over the last couple years. lmk if you actually do it, I have a bunch of little tips. Perhaps I could make a thread with my findings

Would love to hear your tips. I've done it a few times but it's always spread out enough that I have to re learn every time

I don't even feel as strongly about this as twig but it makes sense that people are mad. I know a lot of powerful countries commit terrible acts, I'm not so naive that I think Saudi Arabia is uniquely terrible. That being said, you can't dispute that Saudi Arabia is hosts sports events to improve their reputation, which has suffered due to events like the war in Yemen or the Washington post they beheaded a few years back. Secondly, it's clear that anyone who participates is helping them do it. For those two reasons, it's pretty valid for people to be pissed.

If you wanna take the stance that pros might as well go since someone else would just take their spot, that's not an unreasonable stance. It seems like you're being a contrarian here since it's pretty reasonable for people to be mad that their fav skiers are playing any role in what's very clearly a case of sports washing.
