Post Whats on your Skmind

To all you midwest/appalachia homies, am I sleeping on any hills or parks here? Any spots here that've fallen off and aren't worth hitting? I've already got a shoe pass for weekends. Trying to see if I can sneak in a mid-week sesh a couple times this season. Not looking super promising, but I've done stupider shit before. I'm driving from the mid-ohio valley region of wv.

That’s quite a spreadsheet. The one thing I have to mention is that brandywine basically doesn’t have a rope tow. They do, but they almost never actually run it and it’s in the tiny park where they put awful features

Damn, good to know. Springs has a rope, but I never got a single lap on it last season (even though I skied there 10+ times) they never turn the thing on.

is it just me or has the redbull upside down rail pretty much already been done in street segments a ton of times?

14565297:Dlonetti said:
Not a rail but yeah kinda with upside down wall ride type features

14565300:hi_vis360 said:
Tim durtschi also does that upside down branch jib in EDIAS

agreed, but still everyone should go put some likes and views on that post so maybe redbull will keep seeing skiing shit as a good place to put their money!

there is a big group of people that skin up my local hill (600') every Saturday and Sunday morning before the mountain opens. Dudes get there at 5am skin up a few times then are drinking in the parking lot by the time the lifts start rolling. I like to refer to them as the "skin heads"

same at HV. i prefer touring at night especially with fresh snow. Ends up being way more fun.

[tag=261217]@Lazylightning[/tag] and I have been discussing if Loveland skis best early season. I think I am starting to think that it does.

only been once, few days into the season. had the place to myself. i was a broke highschooler so the affordable lodge food was a real treat. then i locked my keys in my car at the end of the day and had to wait 2 hours for triple A.

good times. need to make it back there eventually

I’m excited to see the rest of the mountain open, but overall pretty stoked. Sidehits all over the place, park is small now but still decent, there’s a lip to air over the ropes into the park which is fun.

The vibe definitely feels like bridger which is what I was hoping for

Tomorrow’s finally the day. Every resorts guns are on, it’s not preseason anymore. Winter. The reassuring feeling that I have plans on every weekend and multiple weekdays until at least march. Park laps with homies street missions and big trips. Inevitably cutting off everyone for skiing. Ahhh.

This sounds exactly like Suicide Six

Couldn't make it to the end of the tube at COP at the start of today, got most of my trick backs by the end but damn the first day of the season always sucks lol

They gotta start printing stuff in Chinese at ski hills. I love that Chinese people are stoked on skiing and do hilarious shit like smoke cigs by their Alfa Romeo in the parking lot, but holy shit are they clueless, and I’m sure a lot of y’all know what I’m talking about. Like they are on a whole other level of cluelessness compared to other beginners. It occurred to me today that there must be a reason for this, and it’s got to have to do with not being able to read signage and basic safety stuff. I spent a semester abroad in Japan and I can confirm that when you can’t read the language well you are bound to do some really fuckin stupid goofy stuff. So I say let’s help them out and print some safety and basic info in Chinese so that we don’t end up with novice skiers stuck on sketchy ass icy blue runs that I am TRYING to rip side booters off early season, end rant.

I want ski hills to stop catering to Chinese tourists. The more international tourists we get = the higher lift prices. International travelers are always willing to pay way more than people on a weekend trip from 200 miles away so they drive prices up.

Plus chinese are the worst behaved. The number of times i got cut off in lift lines by groups of 5+ chinese snowboarders last year was almost comically high

Maybe it’s me but I have never seen this anywhere out west. Most of the time it’s out of staters I encounter, the ones epic and ikon cater to.

I did meet a cool group of dudes from Austria one day, they were pretty with it on how skiing works.

If you are tired of expensive lift tickets go ski at a small community hill. I ski almost exclusively at publicly owned ski hills and tickets are dirt cheap. You are at a resort and will be paying resort prices, and wealthy international tourists will be a part of that. Also aren’t ikon/epic pretty cheap??

the take about them being rude/disrespectful is just straight up racist lol

in his experience, they have been rude. so he says "they are rude"

in your experience, they have been clueless so you say "they are clueless"

you both generalized a whole group of people based on your experiences, his experiences have been worse so naturally his generalization will be worse, but you both did the same thing and are equally as 'racist'. are you stupid?

Chinese isnt a race you muppet. The majority (92% and rising as the genocide on Uyghurs contenues in Xinjiang) of China is concidered "Han's". Chinese is a nationality.

Chinese commonly are very xenophobic. Just as Germans cant laugh, the British cant cook, and we cant not go to war. It has nothing to do with race its about culture.

Dude Chinese tourists are the fucking worst. Have you ever been to tourist hotspots out of the country? I grew up around a lot of American born Chinese and they're normal people, but Chinese tourists have no respect for the people and places they visit.

It's even gotten to the point that the CCP tries to educate (and funds classes for) their citizens on how to behave before they go abroad. The big Thai tourist sites even have separate chinese bathrooms because the chinese kept trashing the ones they have for everyone else.

They’re clueless because of the language barrier, which I pointed out and I genuinely think we should help them overcome that. The other guy said we should discourage them from skiing because they are all rude. Do those really seem like the same thing to you?

Ok fine dog it’s xenophobic then lol, either way stereotyping people because of the color of their skin or nationality and using it as an excuse to discourage them from skiing is wack in my book

my toes are almost too fucked up to ski at all and I can’t get a new pair of boots. on prodeal soon enough. This sucks.

On the flip side, open in day at alta was one of the best days of skiing i’ve ever had.
