Nah my opinion on climate change is that it’s bad, but it’s not going to end the world. Like of course we are gonna see sea levels rise, and some species will die out, and we are gonna see weirder weather patterns, but all these factors don’t affect humanity on a dangerous level. It sucks, but in the big picture it doesn’t really change much. Life goes on

Nah my opinion on suicide is that it’s bad, but it’s not going to end the world. Like of course we are gonna see less people, and some family and friends will be sad, and we are gonna see weirder mental health issues, but all these factors don’t affect humanity on a dangerous level. It sucks, but in the big picture it doesn’t really change much. Life goes on

Homie it’s biology 101, it will start by killing off smaller animals, which in turn will off balance the trophic pyramid.

it’s also going to make growing crops harder, tougher to maintain animals, etc… things that effect everyone’s day to day.

Might not be in our lifetime, but it will come harder later in life.

i got violated by my calc 3 exam today. the bad part is the math is easy but there is a gazillion topics to memorize which makes the class way harder than it should

If I sold my car and rode my bike everywhere and only ate plants and stick bugs and rocks…

One flight from Taylor swifts private jet would negate all of my efforts of reducing global emissions.

I think a lot of the suggestions people make about “reducing muh footprint” benefit your life in other ways, like using a car less, growing food, producing less trash etc. but doing that stuff with the goal of reducing ur emissions is restart bugthink.

also pretty sure the carbon footprint idea was started by a BP Ad so ya

On paper, your efforts are negated by Taylor Swifts jet, but you set an example for the people around you to do the same. They then start thinking about their carbon footprint and pretty soon you’ve got a whole town of people who are conscious about their waste. The towns representatives are now people who care about the environment and raise the issues up the political chain. Politicians might not care as much, but they recognize that the majority of their voters do, I mean look at Armchair_Skier, he got a whole town to eat sticks and bugs for Christs sake! Laws are then passed that prevent Taylor Swifts from flying her private jet excessively, and it all started with local action.

I was cleaning taplines yesterday at a Jackpot casino. It was me, an older woman working the bar, and a handful of dudes drinking and gambling at 1:00pm on a Wednesday.

They asked me how long I’ve been working at the brewery- I tell them I got a degree in teaching but couldn’t find a teaching job that paid enough so now I work at a brewery lol.

Bruh, the bartender and all these alcoholics started telling me how great teachers are and how this country doesn’t treat them well enough. They talked to me about it the whole time I was there and when I left people were shaking my hand and telling me I’ll be a great teacher someday.

it was heartwarming ngl- and I was really not expecting it at a jackpot casino of all places.

How the fuck did I manage to not get hired as a LIFTY ?

I get hired as a wildland firefighter first try a few weeks ago for next fire season but for some reason can’t get this job

Never underestimate the power of alcohol and the lovingness of good ol' classic drunk dudes. They are what makes the world go round.

There's nothing more liberating than the work crew all collectively agreeing that our bosses are dipshits and no one wants to do this anymore.

did you say you couldn’t work winter break or something?? that’s when they will be the busiest so if you can’t make that, then i could see why they don’t want you to apply until after.

the saying used to be ‘can you fog a window? you’re hired’ especially for a job that is $0.08 above current state minimum wage and come jan 1 when that state raises minimum wage, the current wage will be below the minimum wage so everyone will have to get a raise.

This is totally not personal, they are trying to move away from being so reliant on the college kids for winter season. There's been some bad bad conflicts the last two or three seasons and Purg is trying to minimize risk. It's impacted how they higher J ones too so don't let it bother you, it's been a large scale shift.....if you really want to work at Purg consider ski instructing, they have a better dynamic with their high school and college age employees.

ski resort jobs are also just straight up competitive now... used to hire anyone they could get but now they are getting stacks of applicants and can afford to be picky w/ experience and availability. baker had to close applications for parking lot attendants this season which used to be the ultimate 1 braincell job lmao

Really???? What's the deal with that? When I went through the Vail system in 2022 it was definitely anything goes but I believe you that it's changed

finding housing too is a bitch. Check any local housing FB group in a ski town and it's bedlam for people trying to get a place before the season. Lucky to be here till April at least.

i mean idk about it being competitive though lol. but since its an election year, there’s uncertainty in the economy and a lot of companies are holding off on any hiring until after the election. ski resorts are not so i think thats having a large impact on hiring this year. i know both the heavy hitters, vail and alterra, are seeing strong hiring numbers for this time of year. i would bet everyone is. bad time to make any significant career moves but great time to do a seasonal job while your pissed off at the man for a winter.

Did you go super hard then stop? That can happen sometimes when your HR goes really high then you stop exerting yourself. Do some sort of cooldown

Lol yep. Learned that the hard way a few years ago. Basically from zero I hopped on the road bike and did a ~10min max effort, then immediately stopped to answer my phone. Heart rate tanked to under 30bpm and everything started going black, fully thought it was a heart attack

homie doesn’t know that up until recent times, wildlife conservation, clean air, clean water, etc. were all bipartisan issues. the split happened somewhere in bush’s second term and now supporting those things is considered environmentalism and liberal. kinda crazy cause the NRA used to be pretty heavily involved. turns out a clean, healthy environment is great for all populations and therefore would allow for more hunting and rifle sales.

too bad fear mongering and dividing the people sells more guns than hunting and is now a partisan issue. its crazy to me that anyone on this site or any other ski site can be against advancements in environmentalism as our sport is heavily impacted by the climate impacts.
