...join up if the people are cool. Find the fraternity that has members who are genuine and feel it out. If you think the members are sketch than quit, no harm. I joined one because I thought it would enhance my college experience, and it did. I went on so many roadtrips, ski trips, etc., and have so many crazy memories, I won't ever regret it. Dues pay for events, parties, all sorts of stuff. Do you really think that everyone in every fraternity is shallow enough to believe that they pay for their friends? You can make 600 freinds in college if you're even a little bit outgoing, but you'll never have all the opportunities a fraternity will offer you.
